  • How to build a database from an XSD schema and import XML data

    I have a complex XSD schema and hundreds of XML files conforming to the schema. How do I automate the creation of related SQL Server tables to store the XML data? I've considered creating C# classes from the XSD schema using the xsd.exe tool and letting something like Subsonic figure out how to make a shiny database out of it, but not sure if it's the best way to approach it. Has anyone managed to elegantly import XSD files into SQL Server?

    PHP brings a class for ZIP file manipulation. It also allows the creation of directories with addEmptyDir() and the deletion of an entry with deleteName(). But the deletion does not work on directories (empty or not). Is there any way to delete empty folders in a ZIP file (prefered is buildin PHP functionality)?

    I'm using Entity Framework for creation of my Data Access Layer and I want for all of my classes to be internal. I know it is possible to manually assign it manually in the designer for each class. But looks like it also requires to set internal modifier for each single property in every class! I have about 30+ entities and it will be a huge work to do. Do you know any ideas how to set a 'default access' for the entire model?

    I'm trying to update body of all sms on Android device with getContentResolver().update(Uri.parse("content://sms"), values..... query but after request done, also updates message creation/received time. How i can update message but leave old message date? I have tried send to update query ContentValues values = sms values oject; values.put("body", updatedBody); values.put("date", oldValues.getAsString("date")); but it does not help.

And therefore, user must declare that an entity belongs to the same entity group as another entity when you create the entity.     I once read somewhere that apps should not copy data while doing an installation but rather all data creation must be done the first time the app is used. Q1: Does this apply to Windows Mobile apps also? Q2: Is it not okay then to copy a blank database to the \appdata\product\ folder and populate it when the user uses the app or must I wait for the user to se the app to even create the database.     Is there an easy way to add chapters to existing movie files? Note: Actually, I’m not 100% sure if they’re called “chapters” in video files, but it’s the same concept as DVDs. I assume this differs with the video encoding, but any help at all is progress! I have video files in various formats (although .mov, .mp4, and .m4v are my most common). I’m on Mac OS X, but I posted here (instead of the Apple Q&A) because I figured any answers may be useful to other non-Apple power users. Apple-native, application-based solutions preferred (usability is top of my list). However, command-line programs and utilities that do the job are just as welcome. Please share any indirect-but-related wisdom you may have on this topic. Thanks!

  • Videoediting slow on windows with HD footage in .MOV format

    My camera is a Canon 5D mark II that serves me .mov files in HD. But these are a pain in the neck to edit on my pc. I have tried Premier, Vegas, Pinnacle, etc, but it is almost impossible to edit and do a movie. I do have a good computer with Windows7 but that doesn't help me, and I don't want to buy a new monster pc just for that task. Question: I could convert the files, but what would be the best format? I don't want to lose much quality. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Remote control a computer using another computer

    I've got a main desktop computer at home, I'd like watch movies using it but able to control it afar. For example, I would like to lay on my bed and control the desktop using my own laptop via wireless. I've been looking for solutions to my question. I tried to use remote desktop, I can pause the movie but I then have to go to the pc to log in the OS again. I also tried to bind my desktop to my mobile phone over bluetooth, this works as I can control the mouse etc. but I found I can barely see the mouse pointer when at long distance. I still wish I can use my laptop as a remote control, is this possible?
