    I try to simply databind IsSelected property with IsSelected field in my class. But after I change the value in code its doesn't change the property, neither does clicking on ListBoxItem change the field value.     Is there some way to change Rails environments mid-way through a test? Or, alternately, what would be the right way to set up a test suite that can start up Rails in one environment, run the first half of my test in it, then restart Rails in another environment to finish the test? The two environments have separate databases. Some necessary context: I'm writing a Rails plugin that allows multiple installations of a Rails app to communicate with each other with user assistance, so that a user without Internet access can still use the app. They'll run a local version of an app, and upload their work to the online app by saving a file to a thumbdrive and taking it to an Internet cafe. The plugin adds two special environments to Rails: "offline-production" and "offline-test". I want to write functional tests that involve both the "test" and "offline-test" environments, to represent the main online version of the app and the local offline version of the app respectively.

    I have a school project to do which requires us to develop an online voting website. how do i ensure one user has voted once only? the website is supposed to be in booths in public places which means i cannot use ip addresses or cookies. i was planning to use fb login id or maybe some other email id but i cannot find relevant codes/links. i just want people to go through the procedure of entering the log in id but not go to fb directly. my website cannot be published online. could you please suggest how i can achieve this? it is a bit urgent, thank you!

  • Learning C++ from AS3

    I'm a decent AS3 programmer. I work in games, and that is my reason for programming. While there is much I can accomplish with Adobe AIR, my understanding at this point is that learning C++ is probably a good direction to take. I would learn a lot of valuable lower level programming if I needed it down the road, and I would have an easier time learning other C oriented languages. I see a lot of information for people looking to learn AS3 who know C++, but not the other way around. Why C++? Cross platform compatibility is important to me, so I'm not particularly interested in C# or Objective-C at this junction. I'm also aware of HaXe, and while I love the concept, after doing some research I'm worried about investing a lot of time into something so recent with limited learning resources and documentation. I'm looking for advice and resources (books, articles) related to this topic. Thanks in advance!

  • How to Embed/Link binary data into a C++ DLL

    So I have a Visual Studio 2008 project which has a large amount of binary data that it is currently referencing. I would like to package the binary data much like you can do with C# by adding it as a "resource" and compiling it as a DLL. Lets say all my data has an extension of ".data" and is currently being read from the visual studio project. Is there a way that you can compile or link the data into the .dll which it is calling? I've looked at some of the google link for this and so far I haven't come up with anything - the only possible solution I've come up with is to use something like ResGen to create a .resources file and then link it using AssemblyLinker with /Embed or /Link flags. I dont think it'd work properly though because I dont have text files to create the .resources files, but rather binary files themselves. Any advice?

I want the selected value in a combobox to be bound to this property. I thought I could do this but Im getting errors: <ComboBox SelectedItem="{Binding Source={StaticResource model.Foo}}" /> Heres the error: Cannot find resource named '{model.Foo}'. Where did I go wrong? What extra parameters do I need to specify to properly bind to a subproperty?

  • How can I refer to a binding converter in another namespace in Silverlight XAML?

    Since you apparently can't create a Silverlight DataTemplate in C#, I'm trying to create one in XAML. I have a converter that I need to refer to, that I have defined in C# in another namespace. I've tried doing this: <UserControl.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="PriceTemplate"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Price, Converter={Converters:PriceConverter}}" /> </DataTemplate> </UserControl.Resources> Where Converters is an xmlns that points to the correct namespace. However, I get a compilation error that says: Type 'Converters:PriceConverter' is used like a markup extension but does not derive from MarkupExtension. I tried adding System.Windows.Markup.MarkupExtension as a parent to my converter, but it apparently doesn't exist in Silverlight. How can I refer to my converter in XAML, without having to rewrite it in XAML?

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off". Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

  • Namespace with index action in Rails

    I have an admin controller located inside /controllers/admin/admin_controller.rb I also have a pages controller located inside /controllers/admin/pages_controller.rb In my routes.rb file, I have the following: map.namespace :admin do |admin| admin.resources :pages end When the user goes to localhost:3000/admin, I'd like the user to see a page with a link to /admin/pages (Pages CRUD) and to / (To go back home). Since I am using a namespace, I cannot have an index action for /admin. How would I get this done and still have my controllers located inside my /controllers/admin folder (rather than using admin as a map.resources component and a has_many association to pages). Please note I am only interested in the show action of admin. Thank you!

I'm looking to development something with the look-and-feel that users get from sites like: http://www.datamasher.org/ http://www.thisweknow.org/ (About page says it was made with Ruby on Rails, which I'm unfamiliar with) (stackoverflow.com) Any pointers on whether I should just go the Miscrosoft route, and develop in ASP.net with WebForms, or if there's a quick qay to do this kind of development (with a WYSIWYG environment) on an open-source platform? I'm willing to learn, if it's somethat I can use to quickly drag/drop, add code, and publish online. Templates would be a plus, too. I apologize is the question seems a bit vague.

  • Cygwin diff won't exclude files if a directory is included in the pattern

    I need to do a recursive diff using cygwin that needs do exclude all .xml files from certain directories, but not from other directories. According to the --help option I should be able to do this with with the --exclude=PAT option where PAT is a pattern describing the files I want to exclude from the diff. If I do this: diff -rw --exclude="classes/Services.xml" the diff does not ignore the Services.xml file in the classes directory. If I do this diff -rw --exclude="Services.xml" the diff does ignore the Services.xml file in all directories. I need to do something like this: diff -rw --exclude="*/generated/resources/client/*.xml" to ignore all .xml files in the directory */generated/resources/client/. Whenever I add path information to the --exclude pattern cygwin does not ignore the file(s) I've specified in the pattern. Is there some way to make cygwin diff recognize a pattern that identifies certain files in certain directories? It seems to not be able to handle any directory information at all.

    Say I have eclipse installed in office and home. Both eclipse are 3.5 but may have slightly difference, like plugins version. I'd like to commit the code to online repo when get off work and then checkout at home. What would be a possible solution? github? sourceforge? Are they free? Would those slightly difference in eclipse cause any problem? Since I might commit whole project folder which consist some configurations. Can the community explain a bit or suggest some keyword? The application take data in order to generate reports from more DB SQL Server 2005 istances. What is the best way to approach to a migration activity? Is there an internal migration tool?     I want to ?reduce? the CPU usage/ROM usage/RAM usage - generally?, all system resources that my app uses - who doesn't? :) For this reason I want to split the preferences window from the rest of the application, and let the preferences window to run as ?independent? program. The preferences program ?should? write to a Property file(not a problem at all) and to send a "update signal" to the main program - which means it should call the update method (that i wrote) that found in the Main class. How can I call the update method in the Main program from the preferences program? To put it another way, is a way to build preferences window that take system resources just when the window appears? Is this approach - of separating programs and let them talk to each other (somehow) - the right approach for speeding up my programs?

  • Protocol/Packet Design Questions

    I'm looking to a design a protocol for a client-server application and need some links to some resources that may help me. The big part is I'm trying to create my own "packet" format so I can minimize the amount of information being sent. I'm looking for some resources to dissect their protocol, but it seems some completely lack packet design, such as SMTP (which just sends strings terminated by CLRF). What are the advantages/disadvantages of using a system like SMTP over a system that uses a custom made packet? Couldn't SMTP use only a couple bytes to cover all commands through bit flags and save bandwidth/space? Just trying to get my head around all this.
