I have 2 Radeon HD 4650 video cards running 3 monitors right now on my new PC. Would it be possible to use Eyefinity with this or would I need different video cards?
I have an EVGA NVidia GT 610 card in a media center PC running Windows 8 x64
When the TV has been turned off for a while and then turned back on, there will usually be no HDMI signal until I unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in.
Any ideas how what might be causing this or what I should check? I have the latest drivers from NVidia and the card recognizes the TV just fine. Also, my XBox 360 and PS3 work just fine and always show up.
I am choosing a wireless headset for my PC (I hate cables) and am looking at Sennheiser RS 170 / 180. They supposedly sound great, however, there is a 25ms audio latency. I've heard that this is OK when watching TV or listening musing but is bad for games.
The question is - has there been any research / hard data that would show how much of a delay is noticeable by human brain? 25ms doesn't sound like a lot but I may be wrong.
My Windows 7 machine was powered down without logging out first. Now when booting the PC, Windows 7 does not completely start--instead it boots to an all-black screen with a mouse cursor that can be moved around. There are no icons, toolbars, etc. Ctrl+Alt+Del does not bring up the Task Manager. Booting to Safe Mode renders the same result.
I have a Win7-64 with Home Premium.
Recently I installed Torchlight via Steam on my PC and tried to keep the shortcut in my Games Folder. Instead, it make a blank icon (as in, default application icon) which doesn't launch the game and un-removable. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the icon?
It hangs my browser and sometime PC also.

Is there anyway to get rid of this ?
Well, for the project I envisioned I have MY software and want to attach 4 webcams to the PC. I dug deep down into development only to find out that...
Windows won't work with more than 2 webcams?!
Is there a way around that problem?
Information about my configuration:
Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
Relevant applications running in x86 mode
Canyon or Prestigion 2Mpix web cam (running in 640x480 resolution at 30 FPS)
I would like to configure a task like "child control software",
so it would hibernate the pc at certain times.
Is it possible to prevent modification (here: pausing) of
a task through requiring the entering of the admin password to modify,
EVEN THOUGH the currently-logged-in (and only) user is
the admin account itself?
(Do you know of any child control software that does NOT require
an additional account yet is able to hibernate the system at
certain times?)
Thanks a lot!
I keep seeing a lot of stuff about VMware and virtualization on the net these days, after some research it appears it is mainly to run different operating systems on the same PC and also at the same time.
What are some other uses for this technology besides multiple OS's?
Also is there a free version of VMware?
Recently I have bought a second hand HP Notebook from a friend.
The PC still has the recovery partition not backed up yet. However, I'm thinking of resetting Windows using the new Windows 8 resetting feature.
Windows warned me that all files will be deleted.
Is it okay to reset Windows then backup the recovery partition in order to have a fresh backup or this can lead to losing the recovery partition and, with it, my genuine copy of Windows 8?
Somebody was using my Windows 7 and she hibernated it instead of shutting down. Later, I booted up Ubuntu and moved about 2GB worth of files from the Ubuntu partition to the Windows partition.
After booting up Windows (from hibernation), I couldn't find any of the files. Then I restarted the PC, and the files showed for a second or two and then disappeared.
Did Windows delete all the files I put on it while it was hibernating?
the volume from my windows 7 computer lowers automatically.
Regarding the several "similar questions" that have been posted to SU.com before, they have never been properly answered.
Questions for reference:
Windows 7 lowering volume without my consent
Windows 7 lowers applications' volume automatically
My communications button has already been set to "do nothing". Yet a louder sounding program still insists on lowering down other application's volumes.
I fight for the equality of all programs on my PC, help me out please :(
I have an external HD (WD MyBook Essentials) with all of my backups (1TB)
for some unknown reason, when I try to connect the drive (Tried several interfaces: eSATA/plugged it into my PC/USB)
I get this message:
"You need to format the disk in drive M: before you can use it"
I've looked in disk management at the drive, and its listed in there - with the same full capacity.
The file system under disk management now says RAW and that its healthy
The hard drive for this PC has failed and I want to replace it. However, I need to know if once I do that since there will not be a recovery partition on the new hard drive will the Gateway OS disc install on the new drive?
I've looked up comparisons and found that single core performance seems to be better on i7 4770k, but has less cores that the i7 4930k. Would VS take advantage of extra cores when compiling, or would the difference be negible.
I'm looking to buy the PC primarily for programming, so which would be better for visual studio? I already have the rest of my build ready, I just need to decide on this! :) thanks
What is the best way to assign IPs in your opinion?
I've got ~100 PCs, some servers and see three ways to assign IPs:
Static IPs for every PC/server
Static IP reservation by MAC-address in DHCP
Dynamic IPs via DHCP.
Of course, you can combine them, i.e. dynamic for PCs, static for servers.
But, again, what is the best way? How do you do that?
I'll be going to a country side for a few days and the speeds there are pathetic!
Which voice messenger uses the least amount of bandwidth in order to make voice calls to other pc's.
Speeds are a little better than dial-up nearly 80-100 kbps
Following on from this question:
Can Apple Macintosh computers boot from a USB volume?
Can I use any USB 2.0 DVD drive to boot a Mac from?
I had a look around my local PC World today and only the more expensive drives explicitly state on the packaging that they were Mac compatible. Is this just because these products have been through Apple's hardware approval/testing programme, or do Mac's have some special requirement?
Is there a way, using Windows GPO, to set up a list of "default" mapped drives that can be applied to a group of users?
I runs small network and would like to make sure that certain groups of users (like Sales or Support) have the same network shares mapped to the same drive letters irrespective of which PC they log onto.
This would make the setup of new users easier and allow the centralised administration of the network locations shared.
Any links to examples and/or step-by-step guides would be greatly appreciated.
I'm having the problem of needing a hard drive that can be written to by both a Mac and a PC. I have found that FAT32 might be an option, but as a video editor I often deal with files over the 4 GB limit. And since Mac doesn't read NTFS (very well with third-party programs) I'm considering FAT32.
I'm curious, what happens when you try to write a file that is over 4 GB? What is a good way around this?
I'm away from my home office fairly regularly but I find it difficult to really settle to productive coding without my custom 4-screen custom built PC. My laptop (a slightly ageing HP Pavilion with a 1440 x 900 display) would really benefit from a portable monitor to plug into the vga port.
Is there any suitable products out there which offer an easily luggable lightweight monitor which would fit in my laptop, offer reasonable resolution and response, and significantly enhance my screen real-estate?
please see following link,i want to know it this server is able to work with many host?

I have my desktop PC running Windows 7 and Acer netbook running Windows XP and I want to use its screen as second monitor for my desktop via LAN. Are there any software to do that?
I have a the following test environment:
1 - Windows 2008 (DC Edition) Role - Active Directory
2 - Windows 2008 (Enterprise Servers)
I would like to create a MSSQL Cluster in this test environment. I am using a desktop PC and I would like to know
how I can configure second network card in order to configure the MSSQL Cluster?
and how I can use a shared storage without using any external drives?
I have been using TCPview lately to see what connections are made by different processes on my PC. Would somebody please explain what the following situations mean? Thanks.
