• .NET connecting with RDP

  I want to connect to a remote desktop connection to a specified server/username from c#. I have found: __http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/RemoteDesktop_CSharpNET.aspx a AxMSTSCLib dll should be referenced to the solution. I don't want to download this dll from anywhere as I'm not sure if I can trust it. However it also says: "After research on the web I found that I have to create new AxMSTSCLib and MSTSCLib DLLs. So I did" How do I "create" this new AxMSTSCLib ? Other link, doesn't use this dll but run an script instead. http://bytes.com/topic/c-sharp/answers/517024-remote-desktop-connection-c but that code throws Security Exception. So I cannot use it.

• What is best practice (and implications) for packaging projects into JAR's?

  What is considered best practice deciding how to define the set of JAR's for a project (for example a Swing GUI)? There are many possible groupings: JAR per layer (presentation, business, data) JAR per (significant?) GUI panel. For significant system, this results in a large number of JAR's, but the JAR's are (should be) more re-usable - fine-grained granularity JAR per "project" (in the sense of an IDE project); "common.jar", "resources.jar", "gui.jar", etc I am an experienced developer; I know the mechanics of creating JAR's, I'm just looking for wisdom on best-practice. Personally, I like the idea of a JAR per component (e.g. a panel), as I am mad-keen on encapsulation, and the holy-grail of re-use accross projects. I am concerned, however, that on a practical, performance level, the JVM would struggle class loading over dozens, maybe hundreds of small JAR's. Each JAR would contain; the GUI panel code, necessary resources (i.e. not centralised) so each panel can stand alone. Does anyone have wisdom to share?

  in these i'm playing with thread library and trying to implement some functions. One of the tutorial says that to run the program use : gcc -lpthread -lrt -lc -lm project1.c scheduler.c -o out first of all i need deep understanding of what is gcc doing in each line, lpthread is used for what? what are the contributions of lrt -lc -lm ? project1.c and scheduler.c is compiled together so what should i understand? i checked the code and any of them not included in project1.c or scheduler.c. as an output clearly it gives "out". secondly the author states that to run the program you have to use ./out number filename (For example, ./out 2 sample.txt) To make these clear as far as i understand the main function gets number and sample.txt as an input.(?) thanks for your answers and making me clear.

  I know it is offtopic and I will delete my question as soon as I get any answer, but somebody deleted my question. The question was opened for the whole day, but when I got 3 reopens and edited my question for asking for 2 more reopens to reopen my question, somebody deleted my question. It was about efficiency during the programming. Why somebody deleted my question and didn't let to be it closed? I found there many good answers although it was closed and now I can see absolutely nothing so I suppose it was deleted. Can somebody tell me smth?

• Selling an app to a company - How much to charge?

  I wrote an app targeting a particular clientele. A software company with a reputation among my target audience is willing to negotiate a price to either license or buy it. As a newcomer to the app store, I am not sure that I will successfully market it myself. What would be appropriate terms of a sale or license and what about pricing? I am looking for answers that draw from personal experience with software, although not necessarily apps. I've seen this post on SO, but it's a few years old and I assume that the app market has changed and stabilized somewhat. Thanks.

In another example, I've seen another form: http = new Http http(/* argument here */) Is this valid Scala? I guess it must be, because the author is a Scala expert. But it makes no sense to me. Actions are usually performed by invoking methods on objects, whether explicitly as object.doSomething() or implicitly as object = something (using the apply() method underneath the syntactic sugar). All I can think of is that a constructor is being used to do something in addition to constructing an object. In other words, it is having side effects, such as in this case going off and doing something on the web.

  One of my interview Questions, if multiple users across the world are accessing the application, in which it uses a Table which has a Primary Key as Auto Increment Field. The Question how can you prevent the other user getting the Same Primary key when the other user is executing? My answer was I will obtain the Lock on the table and I will make the user to wait Until that user is released with the Primary key. But the Question How do you acquire the Table lock programmatically and implement this? If there are 1000 users coming every minute to the application, if you explicity hold the lock on the table, then the application will become slower? How do you manage this? • SQL - query inside NOT IN takes longer than the complete query ??

  Hi every1, I'm using NOT IN inside my SQL query. For example: select columnA from table1 where columnA not in ( select columnB from table2) How is it possible that this part of the query select columnB from table2 takes 30sec to complete, but the whole query above takes 0.1sec to complete?? Shouldn't the complete query take 30sec + ? BTW, both queries return valid results. Thanks! Answers to Comments Is it because the second query hasn't actually completed but has only returned back the first 'x' rows (out of a very large table?) No, the query is completed after 30 seconds, not to many rows returned (eg. 50). • How can I find which process has opened a specific file?

  How can I find which processes have a specific file opened, and their open, access and share modes? Additionally, is it possible to change these values for a process? Or is it even possible to open a file for reading if it is already opened for exclusive access by another process? Please note that I don't want to invalidate the handle of the process having the file opened. I just want to be able to access the file (if possible). (I'm mainly asking about Windows, but solutions for other platforms are welcome, since they contribute to the community's knowledge.) Edit: I found some answers for my first question here and there. • :focus in IE not working

  Hey, I've created a site with CSS that requires the :focus pseudo class. I change the 'filter' and 'background-image' effects when a textbox is selected (i.e. has focus). This works in Chrome/FF, but doesn't seem to work in IE8 (and, presumable, previous versions if IE). I tried to look for answers, and have tried to use :active - but that doesn't work. Is there a way of changing attributes such as 'filter' using psuedo-classes? Failing that, can I do it in JS with the OnClick event? Thanks

  Ok, I am like other and new to jUnit and having a difficult time trying to get it working. I have searched the forum but the answers provided; I am just not getting. If anyone out there could lend me a hand I would greatly appreciate it. Let me provide the basics: OS: mac OS X.6 export JUNIT_HOME="/Developer/junit/junit4.8.1" export CVSROOT="/opt/cvsroot" export PATH="/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/localmysql/bin:/opt/PalmSDK/Current/bin/:/usr/local/mysql/bin:$PATH:$JUNIT_HOME:$CVSROOT" export CLASSPATH="$CLASSPATH:$JUNIT_HOME/junit-4.8.1.jar:$JUNIT_HOME" I can compile a test class from a java file, however when I try to then run the test java org.junit.runner.JUnitCore MyTest.class I get the following: JUnit version 4.8.1 Could not find class: MyTest.class Time: 0.001 OK (0 tests) Now I have been in the directory with the MyTest.class which is just somewhere in my file system, I tried moving the source folder to the "junit" folder and the "junit/junit4.8.1" folder and the same result. • Windows TCP connection - Still alive after process terminate

  Hi People, I run a license server in linux and a process in Windows to check out tokens from it. It does a tcp socket connection to server to communicate and once the process in Windows is closed, the tokens are checked in back to server. But I see sometime the connection show as established in netstat output even when process in Windows is terminated. This happens when the process in Windows is running for a long time and terminate. It takes 2-3 hours for the connection to go away in neststat output. TCP BABDT350:4505 180.190.40.34:51847 ESTABLISHED 2832 [app.EXE] Can you guys tell me is this is a network stack configuration issue in Windows? Is it possible for the connection to go away once process terminate? Please let me know your answers to this.

  I am struggling to find a good tutorial or best practices document for the use of memcache in app engine. I'm pretty happy with it on the level presented in the docs. Get an object by ID, checking memcache first, but I'm unclear on things like: If you cache a query, is there an accepted method for ensuring that the cache is cleared/updated when an object stored in that query is updated. What are the effects of using ReferenceProperties ? If a cache a Foo object with a Bar reference. Is my foo.bar in memcache too and in need of clearing down if it gets updated from some other part of my application. I don't expect answers to this here (unless you are feeling particularly generous!), but pointers to things I could read would be very gratefully received.

• Why use I-prefix for interfaces in Java?

  Is there some reason why people use I-prefix for interfaces in Java? It seems to be a C#-convention spilling over. For C# it makes sense, as the answers to this question explains. However, for Java a class declaration clearly states which class that is extended and which interfaces that are implemented: public class Crow extends Animal implements Bird I think Joshua Bloch didn't suggest this in Effective Java, and I think he usually makes a lot of sense. I get the I-verbing as presented in an answer to the question above, but is there some other use with this convention for Java?

  Where at all did I say ANYTHING about organizing some kind of anti-government activity? Nowhere. I do not give a flying fuck about America in case you hadn't realized, I'm talking about what I'm going to do when Jesus Christ returns. Besides, why would I make it easy for them to throw me in a black site prison? Use common sense, sheeple. In the end I guess it doesn't matter anyways, since I do not recognize the government as my ultimate authority. Police/Army/Whatever-- funny outfits and a shiny badge don't make you better than me. Allah will do away with your kind. However, as long as they're with me (as they semi-currently are), we have no problems. I fear the government will have other plans to control the population when things start to further decline, and that is when they will run into problems with me and mine, and probably a large percentage of the public. You'd have to be a fucking fool to think we'd fall into anarchy immediately, given the vast resources and blind loyalty of this country. Saying there are practical limits to free speech for anything I have said in this thread is not only ignorant, it is unpatriotic. I should be being celebrated as the modern day Paul Revere for warning you people about our impending doom. You would do well to study the foundations of this country. Nothing I have said is treasonous at all. Besides, the DoD knows I'm harmless until shit pops off, they have bigger fish to fry right now, go forward. Keep in mind, I don't personally have to do anything to overthrow the government. I just said, I would not advocate for any paramilitary organizations at this time, only if/after we dissolve into (more) tyranny. I am not a terrorist, like some soldiers in Iraq. The machine is doing a great job of ruining itself, while I get to comfortably laugh at it on the nightly news knowing that I'm ready for it to shut down.

• DIV menu ontop of <li> on hover

  Hey guys, this is my first time actually posting at stackflow but i've used people's answers before. Really a great site. Anywho onto my problemo. I have some 'li' tags. When I hover the mouse over these 'li's, I need a DIV to appear over the 'li' with some buttons, etc. Basically it's kind of a menu. the 'li's are an unpredictable length, usually somewhere from 1 line to 5. A great example of what I'm trying to accomp is the dribbble.com homepage. Hover over an image (though I'm using 'li's) and a nifty lil info thing comes up. I have absolutely no experience with javascript or jqry, I'm just a PHP guy with some CSS. I do the back-end work. Anywho, can anyone show me how to do this and include a basic example please? Would really really appreciate it. Help?

• Does it make sense to commit after every save with a DVCS?

  I know the question has been asked before how often to commit with a DVCS. All answers have one thing in common--as often as possible. But they're usually something like, after finishing a thought, a user story, getting code that compiles, or passing tests. I was thinking, given that a DVCS gives you you're own repository, with very cheap commits, doesn't it make sense, to commit after every change to a file? After all, this is what happens in NetBeans, and you get a nice free "time machine" without even asking for it. If not every change, then at least every save, or compile. Does this make sense, or do I have the wrong idea about DVCS. My feeling is that this not the workflow most people have with DVCS.

• Databind List Of Objects To A WinForms DataGridView, But Not Show Certain Public Properties

  I'm not even sure if i'm doing this correctly. But basically I have a list of objects that are built out of a class. From there, I am binding the list to a datagrid view that is on a Windows Form (C#) From there, it shows all the public properties of the object, in the datagrid view. However there is some properties that i still need accessible from other parts of my application, but aren't really required to be visible in the DataGridView. So is there an attribute or something similar that I can write above the property to exclude it from being shown. P.S. Im binding at runtime. So i cannot edit the columns via the designer. P.P.S. Please no answers of just making public variables (Although if that is the only way, let me know :)).

  I was struck today, with the inclination to compare the innards of Buffer.BlockCopy and Array.CopyTo. I am curious to see if Array.CopyTo called Buffer.BlockCopy behind the scenes. There is no practical purpose behind this, I just want to further my understanding of the C# language and how it is implemented. Don't jump the gun and accuse me of micro-optimization, but you can accuse me of being curious! I've never run ILasm on a dll/exe I didn't create. Does this mean that I won't be able to see how these functions are implemented? Searching around only revealed a stackoverflow question, which Marc Gravell said [Buffer.BlockCopy] is basically a wrapper over a raw mem-copy While insightful, it doesn't answer my question if Array.CopyTo calls Buffer.BlockCopy. I'm specifically interested in if I'm able to see how these two functions are implemented, and if I had future questions about the internals of C#, if it is possible for me to investigate it. Or am I out of luck?
