• design question for transportation agency/workflow system

  Hello everyone, I am designing a transportation agency/workflow system, and it including 3 types of people, customer who requests to transport some stuff, drivers who deliver the stuff, and truck manager who manages transport source/destination truck coordination and communicates/organizes drivers. The system is expected to be a web site, and 3 kinds of people could use the web site to submit request, accept request, monitor status of specific stuff transportation, etc. The web site is more like an open agency or a workflow system. I am wondering whether there are any existing technologies, tools or projects (better to be open source, but not a must) which I could build my application faster based on? I prefer to use .Net technologies, but not a must. thanks in advance, George

• I'm using the correct content type & Headers so Why is FireFox saving Zip Files without extensions

  Users on my site have the option to download all the photos in an album as a zip file.The Zip file is dynamically created and saved to Response.OutPutStream to be detected as a file download on the user's browser. Here is the Header and Content-type I am outputing context.Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=Photos.zip"); context.Response.ContentType = "application/x-zip-compressed"; ..Well everything works fine with every browser except FireFox. Although Firefox correctly detects the download as a Zip file, It saves the file without the .zip extension. I thought adding this header context.Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=Photos.zip"); ..is supposed to force FF to save the extension. I believe I am following the correct protocol so why is FF behaving this way and how do I fix this?

  Hi All, I need to compare different data objects. Can any one tell me how can i do this. I don't know what are the data types i will get priorly. If i need to use any util from apache commons then please give reference to it. At present I am using .equals() for comparing equality of objects .It is working fine when I am comparing quality for two strings. • Monitor and Terminate Python script based on system resource use

  What is the "right" or "best" way to monitor the system resources a python script is using and terminate it if the resource use exceeds some predetermined values. In my case memory usage is of concern. I am not asking how to measure the system resource use although I am open to suggestions. As a simple example, let's assume I have a function that finds prime numbers less than some large number and adds them to a list based on some condition. I don't know ahead of time how many prime numbers will satisfy the condition so I what to be sure to terminate the function if I use up to much system memory (8gb lets say). I know that there are ways to monitor the size of python objects. What I don't know is the proper way to monitor the size of the list and exit is to just include a size test in the prime function loop and exit if it exceeds 8gb or if there is an "external" way to monitor and exit.

  Hi, I have following definition in ivy.xml <dependency org="southbeach" name="ego" rev="4.3.1" conf="properties->asterik" > <artifact name="ego" type="conf" ext="conf" conf="properties->asterik"/> </dependency> I have files with either extension conf or properties which i need at runtime, in ivysettings.xml, i have following: <filesystem name="privateFSa"> <artifact pattern="${localRepositoryLocation}/[artifact].[ext]" /> </filesystem> It always tries to look for ego.jar instead of ego.conf. can please somebody shed light on this? am i doing something wrong or ivy just supports tar,zip,gz, jar and not properties or conf files? I did workaround for now in ivysettings.xml <filesystem name="privateFSa"> <artifact pattern="${localRepositoryLocation}/[artifact].conf" /> </filesystem> but this doesnt looks good to hardcode conf there. I need to use a custom Sql type for Ms Sql, but it would throw an error on SqlLite. What strategies can I use?   I've a problem that number of Handles in my app is continuously growing. I did the debugging and recognize that this is caused by System.Threading.Thread class which is used for some routine. To simplify the debugging I’ve created a sample .NET application: ... private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { Thread t = new Thread(DoWork); t.Start(); } public void DoWork(object parameter) { // Do something... } ... Each time I’m clicking the button, a thread is created using System.Threading.Thread class. The problem is that looks like the thread do not frees Handles because each click cause number of Handles growing by ~5. • Movable Type: MTEntries sort_by="title" doesn't really work

  Hello Im trying to sort <MTEntries> by title. I know you can use <MTEntries sort_by="title" sort_order="ascend"> but this modifier some how prioritizes capitalized letters first to the sort. Im not sure if this is a glitch in the system but this modifier should sort by purely the alphabets(caps or no caps) used in the title. Example: I would like to sort these titles alphabetically: APRICOT Aligator ABBEY Apple If <MTEntries sort_by="title" sort_order="ascend"> is used: ABBEY APRICOT Aligator Apple But it really should be (and I want) ABBEY Aligator Apple APRICOT Would someone know how to achive this?

  I am in need of a software that is PHP-Based, or similar that can be installed on my server that doesn't offer SVN Perks. It should be somewhat similar to an SVN, however, since the server doesn't support SVN, we'll need another means of doing sort of the same thing. We have a team of Developers and need to accomplish progress in the same way that an SVN does, but without that type of server support. Is there any software that could be installed via webhosting that would be somewhat, if not exactly, similar to an SVN?   Here I have the following bit of code: private IList<IState> _states = new List<IState>(); private ReadOnlyCollection<IState> _statesViewer; public IList<IState> States { get { return _statesViewer; } } Generally it is preferable to return interfaces than the concrete classes themselves, but in this case, shouldn't I set as the return type of the States property a ReadOnlyCollection? Any user of my library will think it is possible to anything you can do with an IList if I set it as so, and that means adding elements. That is not true and I'm definitely breaking the contract exposing it as an IList. Am I right with this view or there is something else I am missing here?

  I'm referencing the NHibernate dll version 2.1.2-GA, and am unable to compile under Mono 2.8.1. I've tried using NHibernate 3 instead and it compiles fine. A simple example of the code that's failing is NHibernate.Cfg.Configuration cfg = new NHibernate.Cfg.Configuration(); and the error is Error CS0584: Internal compiler error: Could not load type 'NHibernate.Cfg.Configuration' from assembly 'NHibernate, Version=2.1.2.4000, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=aa95f207798dfdb4'. (CS0584) As mentioned it compiles with no problems using NHibernate 3, does anyone have any ideas how to get it working with NHiberate 2.1.2?

• navigation framework in silverlight 3 skipping constructor when usercontrol is of a derived type

  Hi: I am using the NavigationFramework in Silverlight 3, and am running into issues where the constructor of the UserControl in the xaml I am loading is not being called, and I believe this is because the UserControl in the xaml I am calling is actually derived from another user control. I have stepped through the debugger with specific break points and the constructor is being ignored completey. I have MyWindowBlue which is of type uctrlBaseMyWindow. The constructor for uctrlBaseMyWindow is being called when the xaml is 'navigated to' but the constructor for MyWindowBlue is being ignored. This is not the case if I add the user control via markup directly. Anyone else have this issue? The code I am using to navigate to the MyWindowBlue is this.MyContentFrame.Navigate(new Uri("/Controls/uctrlMyWindowBlue.xaml", UriKind.Relative)); Has anyone run into this or could offer any help?   Doing something like this is perfectly permissible in javascript: var newWindow = window.open(...) However, this does not work in the senario of GWT (I am using 1.5 I dont know about later versions), Window window = Window.open("", "", ""); Throws me a compile time error that the open is a method with a return type as void. Why should it be void ? What if i want to close my popup from the main Window ? how do I get its handle ? I will have to resort to native javascript no doubt but i was just curious so as to why this is so...

  I'm using a bytea type in PostgreSQL, which, to my understanding, contains just a series of bytes. However, I can't get it to play well with nulls. For example: =# select length(E'aa\x00aa'::bytea); length -------- 2 (1 row) I was expecting 5. Also: =# select md5(E'aa\x00aa'::bytea); md5 ---------------------------------- 4124bc0a9335c27f086f24ba207a4912 (1 row) That's the MD5 of "aa", not "aa\x00aa". Clearly, I'm Doing It Wrong, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm also on an older version of Postgres (8.1.11) for reasons outside of my control. (I'll see if this behaves the same on the latest Postgres as soon as I get home...)

• net.sf.hibernate.PropertyAccessException: Null value was assigned to a property of primitive type

  Hi! What might be reasons for running in the quoted exception upon a HQL select, when there is actually no NULL value in the respective field in the database? I've checked the database multiple times. I've manually submitted the query statement produced by hibernate (extracted from debug). Null values for the respective field are actually never returned. However, the corresponding row in the database is in fact nullable. Does hibernate care about the data base definition? I know, I could simple change the filed to a wrapper type, but we have a number of such fields in a legacy application and this only occurs upon a single query. I'm just wondering about the actual reason for getting this exception only with a single property. Any hints would be greatly appreciated.
