  Hi , I want to over ride the selection behaviour of listbox Items. We can traverse through listbox items using Up and Down arrows where as I wan to traverse the list using Left and Right arrow keys. While I am trying to add the key down event for Listbox, It shows almost all key presses except for Arrow Keys, Home, End and Similar keys. I have the following Code: private void listArtist_KeyDown(object sender, System.Windows.Input.KeyEventArgs e) { if (e.Key.ToString() == "Enter") { //Go to Some Page } else { MessageBox.Show(e.Key.ToString()); } } I am clue less about it. • Drawing with GDI+ under IIS

  I'm running a web application under IIS that we draw graphs with that are sent to the clients. We were previously running under iis6, while migrating to 2008 ( iis7 ) we have encountered some very weird issues with the graphing. I stumbled across the msdn docs for GDI+ stating that "GDI+ functions and classes are not supported for use within a Windows service." I suspect that my issues are probably related to further isolation of services http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms533798%28VS.85%29.aspx My question is how the heck are we supposed to draw graphics? Raw GDI? OpenGL - but doesn't that still require a DC?

• Multiple selection in a TreeView

  I am using a Windows Forms TreeView control in my program. I would like to allow the user to select multiple nodes at the same level by dragging their mouse pointer around (also called a "lasso" selection). I don't think a standard TreeView allows that. My question is what would be the best way to achieve this? Do I have to write custom selection behaviour of my own in perhaps a custom or derived control? Where do I start? I don't need a detailed explanation. Just a small nudge in the right direction.

• Where happens merging in SVN - on the client or server?

  At my company we evaluate working with feature branches. We want to use mergeinfo to track merging. I have issues in some of our tested projects where merging a trunk that has only little changes into branch leads to lots of changed files because of the changed mergeinfo. I read that this behaviour improoved between version 1.5 and 1.6. Does this mean if I update the SVN - server from 1.5.6 to 1.6 I can expext some improvements when merging, or does this depend on the client (which is 1.6.11)?

• How to force ListView to show first page programmatically

  I have a paged ASP.NET ListView. The data shown is filtered, which can be controlled by a form. When the filter form changes, I create a new query, and perform a DataBind. The problem however, when I go to the next page, and set a filter, the ListView shows "No data was returned". That is not weird, because after the filter is applied, there is only one page of data. So what I want to do is reset the pager. Is that a correct solution to the problem? And how do I do that?

• Passing NULL values into mysql Stored procedure

  I am trying to pass a few NULL values to a stroed procedure but PHP always retains the varaibles to be empty strings '' and not NULL. My DB insert function looks like this. (I am using a Framework and ADODB so if it looks weird thats why). function insert_emp($f_name, $last_name, $dob) { if(!isset($dob)){ $dob = NULL; } $this->DB->setConnection("CALL insert_emp('$f_name', '$l_name', '$dob')"); } I have ensured that $dob is being passed an empty string ''. But for some reason when it calls the stored proc it is not changed to NULL. dob is a datetime field and mysql complains that you can not enter an empty string as a DATETIME. If I hard code the insert such as this $this->DB->setConnection("CALL insert_emp('Test1', 'Test2', 'NULL')"); it will work. Thanks for the help.

  this is might be really weird, but I have no idea what kinda wizardry of this. Basically, my Visual Studio stopped responding to my changes, it stopped building solution. I can comment code, which would completely ruin the logic of program, and Visual Studio will still run program that I guess it has in memory. It's really annoying, and I have no idea what it is. I keep restarting software, but it's still does the same. It's a licensed software. I was wondering If someone knew what was going on. Thanks!

Here are my candidates: d : Too generic, too short, violates pylint rule C0103. def : Conflicts with function defintion builtin. defer : Conflicts with module twisted.internet.defer deferred : OK but pretty long cb : Still too short, violates pylint C0103, conflicts with many callback method names. cback : Too Weird? callback : Conflicts with method Deferred.callback() I'm looking for other suggestions. It seems like most of the Twisted example code uses "d" which is fine for simple invocations, but when you're passing Deferred's around to methods and storing them as member variables, it's really far too descriptive.

• Reading a file over a network path

  I have this weird issue,when I use > File FileToRead = new File("\\\\MYSERVER\\MYFOLDER\\MYFOLDER\\MYPICTURE.JPG"); to read a file over a network,all I get is a null pointer exception.Normally a local path works with this,but when on a network path,I just couldn't manage to get it to work.Any ideas? PS:oh and my network connection seems to work,no issues when accessing data in windows explorer... • Regex: How to leave out webding font characters?

  Hi, I've a free text field on my form where the users can type in anything. Some users are pasting text into this field from Word documents with some weird characters that I don't want to go in my DB. (e.g. webding font characters) I'm trying to get a regular expression that would give me only the alphanum and the punctuation characters. But when I try the following, the output is still all the characters. • Error : The Type Initializer of Daemon.Global threw an exception in c#

  I am using the below class file, where some variables are declared to use in the entire application. Now I used that variable BlockLogOut in another class file to make the value true. I just put this below line and getting error in it.. TypeInitializationException Global.BlockLogOut = True; The weird thing is, it was working fine for many months and i am getting this error now on the above line. Of course i was modifying some other stuffs in the application, but surely not this class file. • Lightbox getting open multiple time on enter.

  Hi All, I am going through a weird problem while using lightbox . Where ever the new light box is used user is able to open the same light box on same page number of time. For e.g Using tab button go to `Lightbox link`. Press enter --> Light box will open. Press enter --> second light box open below the previous one. and so on....... The problem is occurred when I use tab and entered on the link my focus is not getting changed from the link and so user is able to open multiple lightbox on clicking enter. • IE7 Negative value cuts off half the element - bug?

  I've relatively positioned one of the elements with negative 'top' and 'left' values, the negative 'left' value actually takes the element outside of the 'body' width, this seems fine in all browsers apart from IE7 where it just cuts it off. establi.sh I thought it might be that weird bug where if it's outside the parent container then you have to set a z-index but that didn't work, then I thought it might be the hasLayout bug but trying to fix that didn't work. I'm not an expert on IE browsers so need some help. I'm thinking IE7 might be choking as the negative left value actually takes it outside the body? Thanks

• How can I cut down on this spam, and what is the point of it anyway?

  I run a small, niche personal ads site. People post ads and then other people reply to them, which sends an email to the original creator of the ad telling them that someone is interested and giving them contact information for that interested person. Lately there's been some weird spam. People are receiving nonsense replies to their ads. Here is an example of one: Name: xkauwvyr Reply: vRYmbI <a href="http://rypmoxdkfblf.com/">rypmoxdkfblf</a>, url=http://pnjlwvhizwbq.com/]pnjlwvhizwbq[/url], [link=http://hmenwoujxrfv.com/]hmenwoujxrfv[/link], http://ogsekuhoyeud.com/ They vary in length and composition but they all look roughly like that. The first idea I had was to simply throw out any reply that contained the string " Also, is this spam just some ass playing a trick on my website, or is it something more malicious?

• If I don't odr-use a variable, can I have multiple definitions of it across translation units?

  The standard seems to imply that there is no restriction on the number of definitions of a variable if it is not odr-used (§3.2/3): Every program shall contain exactly one definition of every non-inline function or variable that is odr-used in that program; no diagnostic required. It does say that any variable can't be defined multiple times within a translation unit (§3.2/1): No translation unit shall contain more than one definition of any variable, function, class type, enumeration type, or template. But I can't find a restriction for non-odr-used variables across the entire program. So why can't I compile something like the following: // other.cpp int x; // main.cpp int x; int main() {} Compiling and linking these files with g++ 4.6.3, I get a linker error for multiple definition of 'x'. To be honest, I expect this, but since x is not odr-used anywhere (as far as I can tell), I can't see how the standard restricts this. Or is it undefined behaviour?

• ExtJS panel does not render properly unless I open Firebug - WTF?

  I have the following ExtJS Panel embedded in another Panel, which then resides in a TabPanel and the TabPanel is in a FormPanel. With that being said, these start/end date fields are initially displayed in very small cells -- the cells are so small that I see horizontal scroll bars. Now here's the weird part: if I open Firebug, everything pops into place. Does anyone know what's going on? • How to handle #(hash) character in SEO friendly url?

  How do you bypass the default behaviour if #(hash) which is to go to a specific part of a page? The problem that I have is that the # character is a part of the SEO friendly url which is a title and the #(hash) is part of the content (i.e. like with C#). I can't retrieve the whole string and I only get the characters before the #. Example: www.domain.com/C#-programming-book in this example I only get 'C' and not the '-programming-book' part. I am not using any javascript at the moment and would like to only use a PHP solution for this. Before anyone suggests that I used url encoding, the criteria for the seo friendly url is that it should be human readable and easily remembered. So converting the hash to '%23' does not pass the criteria. Is there no way around it?

• Empty R environment becomes large file when saved

  I'm getting behaviour I don't understand when saving environments. The code below demonstrates the problem. I would have expected the two files (far-too-big.RData, and right-size.RData) to be the same size, and also very small because the environments they contain are empty. In fact, far-too-big.R ends up the same size as bigfile.RData. I get the same results using 2.14.1 and 2.15.2, both on WinXP 5.1 SP3. Can anyone explain why this is happening?   Hi guys, I've just updated my nexus one to 2.2...now all of my (own and some from the market) apps throw exceptions and were closed... It's weird, in the app i'm developing atm, there it displays only my start page with buttons, but when i tap on one button to fire an intent to another activity my app gets closed with an exception. Yesterday before the update everything worked fine... The same thing in my emulator: I have two devices, one with API level 7 and one with level 8...Level 7 worked fine, but level 8 killed my app :( What is the problem and how can I solve this? I'm desperatly trying to get it working again :( I hope someone can help me fixing this

• UISearchBarDisplayController - Fixed SearchBar

  I've been trying to get UISearchBarDisplayController to not animate, and stay fixed below the navigation bar. Is this even possible, I've been getting some weird results. This is all configured through a storyboard. I am just trying to figure out If I should just create my own implementation of UISearchBarDisplayController since it kinda seems a little impossible to customize it to my need. Clicking the search box When I start searching the top has extra paddding (20pt). It's assuming its on top of the origin y: 0 to prevent overlapping of status bar. • How can I create a profiler GUI in WPF?

  I am looking to create a task profiler in WPF with an UI similar to the one of incredibuild. Eg, timed tasks appear as strips on their respective line. Have a look at: http://baoz.net/wp-content/2009/06/ib1.png to see what I mean. I am unsure what the best way to tackle this problem is? Should I override the Panel class creating a custom layout panel for this or might there be an existing control/library out there that can fit my needs. I have so far had a look at various charting controls but am unsure of weither they can be tweaked to achieve this behaviour or not. I am really hoping for someone who has been using WPF for a while to help me narrow down my search. It is not exactly easy to know what to google for either :)
