  • How can I search a Drupal site with the new Unity lens?

    I'm creating a simple Unity lense for my college site which is based on Drupal, but I don't know how to adapt this command for Drupal API. Please help, it's python. We now create our query url, using the Wikipedia opensearch API url = ("%s/w/api.php?action=opensearch&limit=25&format=json&search=%s" % (self.wiki, search)) I'm using template to write lense following Wikipedia example http://developer.ubuntu.com/2012/04/how-to-create-a-wikipedia-unity-lens-for-ubuntu/. I don't know python but Im familiar with C. This Drupal API calling is the only problem I have to successfully develop a lense. Please help!

    Orchard has its own caching API that while built on top of ASP.NET's caching feature adds a couple of interesting twists. In addition to its usual work, the Orchard cache API must transparently separate the cache entries by tenant but beyond that, it does offer a more modern API. Seriously, how many times have you written code like this: var faviconUrl = (string)cache["Vandelay.Favicon.Url"]; if (faviconUrl == null) { faviconUrl = ...; cache.Add("Vandelay.Favicon.Url", faviconUrl, ...); } Orchard's cache API takes that control flow and internalizes it into the API so that you never have to write it again. Notice how even casting the object from the cache is no longer necessary as the type can be inferred from the return type of the Lambda. The Lambda itself is of course only hit when the cache entry is not found. In addition to fetching the object we're looking for, it also sets up the dependencies to monitor. You can monitor anything that implements IVolatileToken. Here, we are monitoring a specific signal ("Vandelay.Favicon.Changed") that can be triggered by other parts of the application like so: _signals.Trigger("Vandelay.Favicon.Changed"); In other words, you don't explicitly expire the cache entry. Instead, something happens that triggers the expiration. Other implementations of IVolatileToken include absolute expiration or monitoring of the files under a virtual path, but you can also come up with your own.

  • Moving all UI logic to Client Side?

    Our team originally consisted of mostly server side developers with minimum expertise in Javascript. In ASP.NET we used to write a lot of UI logic in code-behind or more recently through controllers in MVC. A little while ago 2 high level client side developers joined our team. They can do in HTMl/CSS/Javascript pretty much anything that we could previously do with server-side code and server-side web controls: Show/hide controls Do validation Control AJAX refreshing So I started to think that maybe it would be more efficient to just create a high level API around our business logic, kinda like Amazon Fulfillment API: http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/fws/latest/APIReference/, so that client side developers would fully take over the UI, while server side developers would only concentrate on business logic. So for ordering system you would have a high level API like: OrderService.asmx CreateOrderResponse CreateOrder(CreateOrderRequest) AddOrderItem AddPayment - SubmitPayment - GetOrderByID FindOrdersByCriteria ... There would be JSON/REST access to API, so it would be easy to consume from client-side UI. We could use this API for both internal UI development and also for 3-rd parties to create their own applications. With advances in Javascript and availability of good client side developers, is it a good time to get rid of code-behind/controllers and just concentrate on developing high level APIs (ala Amazon) that client side developers can consume?

  • Is there a way to disallow crawling of only HTTPS in robots.txt?

    I just realized that Bingbot is crawling my company's website's pages over https. Bing already crawls the site over http, so this seems frivolous. Is there a way to specify Disallow: / for https only? According to Wikipedia, each protocol has its own robots.txt And according to Google's Robots.txt Specification, the robots.txt applies to http AND https I don't want to Disallow: / for Bing totally, just over https.

The API will have authentication to protect private data. The front-end sends GET and POST requests to the API. A MVC framework can be used, such as Backbone, Angular, or Ember.js.   • How do I use multiple settings file in Django with multiple sites on one server?

    I have an ec2 instance running Ubuntu 14.04 and I want to host two sites from it. On my first site I have two settings file, production_settings.py and settings.py (for local development). I import the local settings into the production settings and override any settings with the production settings file. Since my production settings file is not the default settings.py name, I have to create an environment variable DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE='site1.production_settings' However because of this whenever I try to start my second site it says No module named site1.production_settings I am assuming that this is due to me setting the environment variable. Another problem is that I won't be able to use different settings file for different sites. How do I start use two different settings file for two different websites?

  • Why is /usr/bin/env permission denied to rails server?

    I've just set up rails on an apache server running on Ubuntu, and when I try to go to the root page it gives this error: /usr/bin/env: bash: Permission denied env and all the directories in the path all have permissions 755. I tried setting env to have permissions 777 but still got the same error. Rails is running as "nobody". Why is this happening? I don't know what else to try.   • PHP Page Stopped outputting content After Running "yum install php-devel" Command

    This error is bizarre but after running the "yum install php-devel" command (after a long day of trying to install Facedetect and OpenCV for face detection) my site stopped functioning. The site uses mysql and php. When you hit the url, the page executes the mysql and the php, but it appears to randomly stop outputting the content of the page. None of the code was changed and the site was working flawlessly prior to running the mentioned ssh command. I do use output buffering in the site, but after removing the calls "ob_flush", "ob_end_flush" and "ob_start" it didn't appear to help—still having issues with the site. Any ideas what this could be?     Hello! I’am using Google Map’s GClientGeocoder for reversing map coordinates into string address. Exactly as shown in google’s example here http://code.google.com/apis/ajax/playground/?exp=maps#geocoding_reverse But, I would like to extract LocalityName (place.AddressDetails.Country.AdministrativeArea.Locality.LocalityName) from place.address. The straight way will be join all AddressDetails elements, excluding LocalityName. However order of the structure elements in final string representation is depends from geographical location. For example: Order for Australia city: ThoroughfareName + “, ” + LocalityName + “ ” + AdministrativeAreaName + “ ” + PostalCodeNumber + “, ” + CountryName Order for Russian city: CountryName + “, ” + PostalCodeNumber + “, ” + LocalityName + “, ” +ThoroughfareName Moreover PostalCodeNumber was not supplied in AddressDetails for the last example. Please, help!
