    Hello, I was searching for a long time a Linux Live USB that I can boot my macbook pro from. Is there such distro so I can install it on Snow Leopard or Windows 7? UPDATE I've found this: "isohybrid" CD images (..) are special in that as well as the normal CD-based ISO9660 filesystem they also contain a valid-looking DOS-style partition table. Thus, if you simply copy one of these images raw to a USB stick a normal PC BIOS will boot the image directly. (...) Finally: I'd like to add support into xorriso for creating the nasty HFS hybrid images that are needed for booting Macs. The code that does this in cdrkit is probably some of the worst that I've ever worked with, and I'd like to get away from it.     Hi folks, currently, we're using TFS2010 at our office and we're about to move. Part of that move is a split of teams. Our team will get their own servers. So we need to build our own TFS server and add our current projects to that. Right now, our TFS server exists on TWO servers - one for TFS and one for our Continuous Integration .. i think that's a build controller or something. That really suxs for us - having TWO servers instead of one for all our source control. We love CI and how it works (after the massive massive pain it was to get our VS2010 solution to CI + web Deploy) ... but it does work. So - can we do this with ONE server? Also, we don't want to have an Active Directory. Will this also work?

  • Windows service only gets called when Visual Studio is attached to process

    I've created a simple windows service in C# using Visual Studio 2010. It uses a TcpListener and socket to listen for messages on a given port. This worked absolutely perfectly when my laptop had Windows Vista on it. However, since upgrading to Windows 7 and re-installing my service it only responds if I'm attached to the process and debugging in Visual Studio 2010 - at which time it behaves as expected. I've tried running the service under my (administrator) credentials and setting the exe to run as administrator. I've also checked "Allow service to interact with desktop" when it was running under the Local System account. I'm testing using both a test console app and an Adobe Air application - both with the same results. Are there some specific permissions that I need to allow the service to be called?

    I don't know if this feature exists, but I'd like a way to control Visual Studio 2010's scratch disk behavior (other than completely turning off intellisense). Right now it creates a massive .sdf file in the project folder (50MB+), and then it goes and creates an IPCH folder with 60MB+ of precompiled headers. All that's well and good while VS is running, but after it exits, I really would like the disk back. Is there a way to configure vs 2010 to Use the same location (%AppData%\VSScratch) for scratch disk files (so its easier to blow it away?) Automatically delete .sdf /ipch on exit? I know they don't delete them because its faster to startup.. but if you delete them yourself, startup time isn't that much increased..

  • Exchange 2010: Import a PST when Local Move Request fails

    So the trail of tears continues with my SBS 2003 to 2011 migration: all the mailboxes have moved mailbox store from OLDSERVER to NEWSERVER, with the Local Move Requests completing successfully, except for one. I've logged into their machine and have exported their mailbox as a PST. I'm about to import it, but it seems to me that because the mailbox is still on OLDSERVER, even with a new Outlook profile pointing to NEWSERVER in Outlook, it'll push the mail into the current mailbox store on the old server. Please tell me I don't have to blow away her existing mailbox, logon, etc. on the old SBSERVER: is there a way to change the state from "Legacy" to "User Mailbox" without actually moving the mailbox store? Create a new mailbox for her user in NEWSERVER?

    When working with Exchange Server 2007 or newer, disabling a mailbox is a fairly common operation. However, the Technet documentation has no details about the side effects of disabling a mailbox. This is all it says. "This task removes all the Exchange attributes from the user object in Active Directory. Based on the deleted items retention policy, the Exchange store will retain mailbox data for the user object." Perhaps the boss has delegated calendar control to a secretary. Maybe a team of staff members all share access to a public folder. Perhaps a power user has been granted the ability to receive email at several different addresses. Two clear questions come to mind. What happens to links between mailboxes after a mailbox is disconnected? Can the Disable-Mailbox operation be easily undone?

    I've struggled with this one for a whole day, so here is both the problem & solution: After profiling an ASP.NET application on Windows 7 (x64), I exited Visual Studio (possibly a crash) and installed some updates which required a reboot. When I loaded back up the ASP.NET Web Application in my Visual Studio Solution was dimmed out, and the Web & WAS services turned out to be stopped. When I tried starting Windows Process Activation Service, I got the error "parameter is incorrect".

  • How do most small businesses acquire Office licenses?

    A company I sometimes consult for is relatively small (40 employees), and they have a royal mess of Office licenses. OEM, Retail, Upgrades, O2K/XP/2K3/2K7, etc. They basically buy whatever retail license they can find cheapest online, and have someone track it all in a spreadsheet for compliance purposes. They also use a Microsoft Action pack license for getting another 10 copies of Office/Vista for free. While it all seems to follow Microsoft's licensing rules, it also seems horribly inefficient. I've talked to them about Microsoft's Open license, but they don't see any advantage to it. What do other relatively small businesses do? Are Open licenses popular, or do most of them just buy retail like my client?

    I am trying to connect my Microsoft Surface tablet to an ad-hoc network that I setup on my Windows-7 desktop machine. The Surface machine can see and connect to other hotspots, but it cannot see the ad-hoc network, whereas a second Windows-7 laptop sitting next to the Surface machine can see it. What would cause the ad-hoc network to be visible to Windows 7 but not to Surface? Additional data: Windows-7 is on domain, but Surface is not.

When I first was using it 3 years ago, it would let you search a database of thousands of ready-made templates, which I think Microsoft hosted at their own website.
