• Printing fails after first print with Centos 6 and HP LaserJet P3015dn printer

  Centos 6 recognises and configures a HP LaserJet P3015dn printer connected via USB. This machine is being configured as a small group file/print server. I can print a test page, which is processed/printed correctly. The next time printing is attempted (say printing a second test page), the page is not printed and the printer is set to disabled.   Just want to know everyone's experience and take on managing users/authentication on a multi-node db2 cluster with users groups. I have 17 apps in production (project based company, only 2 online apps), and some 30 users with 7 groups. prodsel - group that has select privilege on all tables produpdt - update group on selective tables (as required by the apps) proddel - delete prodins - insert permissions for the group Now what my company does is when an app uses certain user (called app1user), and needs select and insert privilege on a table, they 1. grant select and insert for prodsel, prodins respectively 2. add the user under those two groups... now this creates one to many relationship between user and privileges, and this app1user also gets select on other tables granted for the prodsel group. I know this is wrong. Before I explain, I need to know how this is done elsewhere. Please share your experiences, even if you use other Databases that uses OS level authentication.

This program is just a c# console application and doesn't do console.write until the computation part is finished, so output won't affect the performance. I got the following: STRING: QUOTE (options {greedy=false;} : . )* QUOTE ; WS : SPACE+ { $channel = HIDDEN; } ; WORD : ~(QUOTE|SPACE)+ ; For the corner cases, it needs to parse: "string" word1" word2 As three tokens: "string" as STRING and word1" and word2 as WORD. Basically, if there is a last quote, it needs to be part of the WORD were it is. If the quote is surrounded by white spaces, it should be a WORD. • YouTube API Get all videos uploaded feed

  Hi Guys, I can't seem to retrieve ALL videos from a particular channel on YouTube, despite the API giving example code that should perform just that. I'm using Java. http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/GoogleDevelopers/uploads The above rss feed is the URL they suggest using along with the following sample code.. /*init the list*/ String feedUrl = "http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/GoogleDevelopers/uploads"; VideoFeed videoFeeder = null; videoFeeder = serviceobject.getFeed(new URL(feedUrl), VideoFeed.class); Looping this with a for loop suggests 25 entries (as per the RSS). However - the actual number of videos uploaded is significantly larger. (662 at time of writing). My query is how on earth you retrieve everything with the API, not just a subset of the data. Considering the requirement of a 64 bit OS, consider a new separate machine as ready to go with Win 2008. Have I missed any details? Where might virtualization help in this project?   I am testing the following with Freeswitch and different devices (nokia n900, nokia e60, ekiga) and have similar results between them. On the Freeswitch server (1.0.4 in multi-tenant mode) I have several user profiles for a domain, e.g. 1000, 1001 for host.com The user are authenticated correctly and calls can be placede. When I place a call from a device registered as [email protected] to [email protected] it will show up at the other end (1002) as [email protected] I would expect this call to show up as [email protected]. The IP address is the one of from the Freeswitch server. Because of this, the calls are no correctly recognized by the address book on certain devices. Can the he domain FQDN of the callers domain/acount be used, instead of the IP address of the server in the SIP uri?

• Sql Server database logs "missing"

  Here's the problem we're having: In the applications that are using the databases we get errors like: The log for database 'redactedDatabaseName' is not available. Check the event log for related error messages. Resolve any errors and restart the database. Cannot close event log because there are still event handle users active. The server log says this: Error: 9001, Severity: 21, State: 1. Context: The server in question is holding databases for a multi-tenant application and lately it's been under quite heavy loads. It has something like 3k small databases on it and these errors have been coming in the last week. We have a work-around right now, which is taking the database offline then bringing it online again. Any ideas why this is happening and how we can fix it?

  Setup: an online tv channel with "youtube" like clips and categories our own flash video player which can be embeded into other remote sites as2 flash player Goal: To track who's embeding my videos, at least with basic statistics per domain. Since it's AS2, it's harder to do this. My ideea is that I can create a php page which should be opened each time the player loads on any website; than the flash player can do a "geturl" of the php file which has Google Analytics code or some other decent tracker. The geturl command could contain a variable like the Video Title which already is included in the player; and this title would pass on with GET to the php file and setup a dynamic page title which can be tracked very well. Problem: how to i use the GETURL function without have user's browser open a new tab or window. Is there any hidden way to do it?

• Amazon RDS Pros/Cons of Multiple DBs per instance

  I run two completely independent websites. I am moving their MySQL databases to Amazon RDS. I'm not going to do Multi A/Z deployment - let's remove that variable from this question. I'm not sure whether to create a single RDS instance with two databases, or two Amazon RDS instances with a single database. Ignore cost for the sake of this question. I will not hit the 1 TB data limit so let's ignore that. However, it is extremely important that crashing one of the websites doesn't impact the other. Based on this document - http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/Concepts.DBInstance.html I'm assuming that if I write terrible code that crashes one of the databases in a given RDS instance, it could possibly take down the entire RDS instance (and thus inadvertantly affect the other database). • Which e-reader for O'Reilly books?

  Most of my programming books are from O'Reilly. Several of them need to be updated, and I'm thinking of going for an e-reader this time. O'Reilly sell their e-books as a multi-format bundle (PDF, EPUB and Mobipocket (Kindle)). Has anyone done a comparison of the formats as for suitability on a small e-reader screen? In Europe, the Kindle DX is not (yet?) available, so I'm not sure whether a Kindle or a Sony (or some other reader) is best suited for these books. Disregarding other advantages/disadvantages of the different readers for now, which one in your opinion gives the best experience with O'Reilly books in particular (or programming books in general)?

• What is meant by the terms CPU, Core, Die and Package?

  Now this might sound like too many previous questions, but I am really confused about these terms. I was trying to understand how "dual core" is different from "Core 2 Duo", and I came across some answers. For example, this answer states: Core 2 Duo has two cores inside a single physical package and dual core is 2 cpu in a package 2 cpu's in a die = 2 cpu's made together 2 cpu's in package = 2 cpu's on small board or linked in some way Now, is a core different from a CPU? What I understand is there is something that does all the heavy computation, decision making, math and other stuff (aka "processing") is called a CPU. Now what is a Core? And what is a processor when somebody says he has got a Core 2 Duo? And in this context what is a Package and what is a Die? I still don't understand the difference between Core 2 Duo and Dual Core. And can somebody explain hyper-threading (symmetric multi-threading) too if they are super generous?

• Save matrix of double values in OpenCV

  I have an OpenCV matrix of double (CV_32F) values. I'd like to save it to the disk. I know, I could convert it to an 1-Channel 8-bit IplImage and save it. But that way, I loose precision. Is there a way to save it directly in the 32-bit format, without having to convert it first? It also would be nice, if the resulting file would have an image format, so I can view the result as an image.

• Tool to maintain/keep track of filesystem content integrity?

  I'm looking for a tool to maintain the integrity of a filesystem and it's contents using checksums. Effectively storing a list of checksums/filename pairs somewhere on the filesystem in a way that can be verified later if files are somehow damaged or lost. Git does what I want, but because it stores the contents of every file in it's object database, the disk usage will at least double. And the fact that it does not provide a progress bar when scanning files tells me it was not designed for the multi-terabyte filesystem I have in mind. I can do this crudely by storing the output of md5deep, but is there a tool specifically designed for this purpose, using whatever smarts possible to make the process efficient?

• Edit a video to embed a bitmap.

  I would like to edit a video so that i can embed a small bitmap image at any corner. The bitmap image has to be replaced with another image, for every two video frames. If somehow it is possible to covert a group of pictures into slideshow video then i want that video to be embedded at the corner of the main video. • Best Design pattern for social media file transfer

  Our system would like our clients to link their accounts with different social media sites like youtube, vimeo, facebook, myspace and so on. One of the benefits we would like to give to the user is to transfer, update and delete files they have uploaded to our sites and transfer them to the social media sites mentioned above. this files could be videos, images or audio. We started thinking about using a strategy pattern, as all of these sites share a common process ( authentication, connection, use the API to transfer/edit/delete the file ), but we soon realized that it may not work as me may want to use some of the extended functionality that is specific to each service (eg: associate a youtube video with a channel, or upload images to a specific album on facebook, and much, much more...) My question is, what would be the best Structural Design Patter to use for this scenario?

• Cabling: What to keep in stock?

  I have worked a few different places, each one with a different solution, so I would like to hear your suggestions and ideas. I am looking at a situation with multiple server-rooms. We have a mixture of copper (both ethernet and telephone), multi-mode fibre and single-mode fibre. We have all types of connectors: RJ-11, RJ-45, LC, SC, FC, SMA and several I probably forgot about. We have a lot of people working in the area, and keeping track of cables is turning into a full time job. So, here are a the questions: What types and lengths of cable do you keep in stock on site? Do you make your own or buy pre-made? Adapters? Dampeners? How do you manage cable inventory? How do you label the cables? Any other tricks to stop this from driving me crazy?
