• Random freezes on MBP9,2 + Ubuntu 12.04

  I have a MBP9,2 (mid-2012) at work. I put Ubuntu 12.04 on it after some efforts. Everything works more or less now, except I get random freezing every now and then. I have to power off the machine to restore it. Wondering if anyone had the similar issue. My setup: MacBook Pro 9,2 (mid 2012) Ubuntu 12.04 (installed using the special image for Macs) No proprietary drivers xmonad on Unity 2D So far the freezes look to be sporadic and spontaneous.

    Ich darf ja keine Namen nennen, aber der Gewinner unserer Umfrage auf der DOAG Konferenz 2012 steht fest und hat sich mit seiner Teilnahme selbst ein erstklassiges Nikolaus-Geschenk gemacht - und zwar ein niegelnagelneues iPad!!! Zugegeben - genau so wie auf dem Bild sieht das iPad des glücklichen Gewinners nicht aus, denn dieser Custom Design Wunsch von mir hätte wahrscheinlich ebenso viel gekostet wie eine ausgewachsene Exadata, aber das wird die Freude nicht trüben. • Disable printing extraneous job info when I print a images

  As of 10/11/12 I this is still a problem. Peterling, that link you gave me was for Windows. Not Ubuntu. I need to know how to do this in Ubuntu. Whenever I print off an image, before the actual image prints, I get these weird "print job" sheets. (I named them that, because I don't know what else to call them.) • File access forbidden in htpasswd

  I have been using the htpasswd generated in this question and it seemed to have been working well until recently. Since yesterday, I am not able to access the newest file created in the folder ChatLogs(named 10_07_2012.txt). The server returns a 403 Forbidden error saying: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /ChatLogs/2012/07/10_07_2012.txt on this server. I am still able to access older files(until 09 July, 2012). At first I thought it might be because of file permissions, but they are the same as on other 9 files in the folder. What could be the problem? Please Help.

  JSR 355, JCP Executive Committee Merge, is currently nearing the end of the Public Review period.  Review the current draft here and provide feedback here.  The review closes on 12 June 2012.  The JCP Executive Committee met face to face in Sao Paulo, Brazil earlier in May, and has published a revision (version 2.1) of the EC Standing Rules.  The EC Standing Rules were introduced in October 2011 with the launch of JCP version 2.8 (JSR 348).  Version 2.1 of the EC Standing Rules will modify rules for attendance at EC face-to-face meetings. Remote observers will be permitted in "read-only" mode but unless a member attends in person they will be counted as absent.  The review period for these changes will close on June 30 2012.  Please comment on the proposed changes by logging an issue in the JCP EC issue tracker.

Mac OS X users running Java-based applications are instructed to download the latest version of the Java 7 applet plug-in from Oracle.   I have this url: http://domain.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Hvilke-vilkår-følger-med-når-du-bestiller-nyt-bredbånd.png If I ftp/ssh or just browse to that folder (apache index feature), I see the file Hvilke-vilkår-følger-med-når-du-bestiller-nyt-bredbånd.png If I click on the link from the apache index, I can see the file, however, if I copy the URL and try to browse to it directly, I get the error: The requested URL /wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Hvilke-vilkÃ¥r-følger-med-nÃ¥r-du-bestiller-nyt-bredbÃ¥nd.png was not found on this server.   Google analytics stats: 04 june 2012 Visits: 4.423 Unique visitors: 3.558 Pageviews: 77.352 Pageviews / visit: 17,49 Visit length: 00:06:26 Bounce rate: 1,09% 05 june 2012 Visits: 4.652 Unique visitors: 3.825 Pageviews: 45.087 Pageviews / visit: 9,69 Visit length: 00:06:45 Bounce rate: 19,60% From one day to another the bounce rate went from 1% to 19%, the pageviews dropped by half so did the pageviews/visit. The only thing I changed (If I remember correctly) on the site, was an advertisment that used a javascript. Could this be the reason? and, if it is, how can I know which one is the real stats?

  I've been in my first programming job for just under 2 years now (it will be two years next month). I went from Junior Developer initially to just Developer after about a year (when the senior developer left). It's a small company and I write all the code. I have been offered a cool new job (Windows 8, Visual Studio 2012, SQL Server 2012, MVC etc etc) and I am considering it not because I hate my current job (I don't, it's fun) but because I am scared that if I stay in the one job for too long, other employers won't want to hire me as it will look like I can't get a job anywhere else. It would help a lot if you could answer this question: How long did you stay in your first programming job? Thanks

• RPi and Java Embedded GPIO: It all begins with hardware

  So, you want to connect low-level peripherals (like blinky-blinky LEDs) to your Raspberry Pi and use Java Embedded technology to program it, do you? You sick foolish masochist. No, just kidding! That's awesome! You've come to the right place. I'll step you though it. And, as with many embedded projects, it all begins with hardware. So, the first thing to do is to get acquainted with the GPIO header on your RPi board. A "header" just means a thingy with a bunch of pins sticking up from it where you can connect wires. See the the red box outline in the photo. Now, there are many ways to connect to that header outlined by the red box in the photo (which the RPi folks call the P1 header). One way is to use a breakout kit like the one at Adafruit. But, we'll just use jumper wires in this example. So, to connect jumper wires to the header you need a map of where to connect which wire. That's why you need to study the pinout in the photo. That's your map for connecting wires. But, as with many things in life, it's not all that simple. RPi folks have made things a little tricky. There are two revisions of the P1 header pinout. One for older boards (RPi boards made before Sep 2012), which is called Revision 1. And, one for those fancy 512MB boards that were shipped after Sep 2012, which is called Revision 2. So, first make sure which board you have: either you have the Model A or B with 128MB or 256MB built before Sep 2012 and you need to look at the pinout for Rev. 1, or you have the Model B with 512MB and need to look at Rev. 2.
