• How to add a local file to trusted zone in IE8?

  I want to add a file on my local drive (C:\something.html) to the Trusted Zone in IE8 (my OS is Windows Server 2003). The Add Sites Dialog box, does not seem to take entries for files on the local drive. I have tried: file://C:\something.html file:\\localhost\c$\something.html I have seen other solutions (on superuser and elsewhere) such Mark of Web, that allow your local file to be treated as if it were part of the internet zone, but I want to add my file to the Trusted Zone. How can I do this? Thanks.

• virt-install error: Host does not support any virtualization options

  Completed CentOS 5.4 perfect install from howtoforge.com (ISPConfig 3). I have ISPConfig 3 deployed with a handful of sites. I installed xen: yum install xen kernel-xen i installed the recommended (linuxtopia.org) virtualization packages and started libvirtd yum install virt-manager libvirt libvirt-python libvirt-python python-virtinst i have damn small linux .iso in /root virt-install --name damnsmall --ram 16 --file=/var/lib/xen/images/damnsmall.img --file-size=1 --vnc --cdrom=/root/current.iso yields the error: ERROR Host does not support any virtualization options i have also tried this from GNOME (virt-manager) and i cant even add a connection. i read somewhere i need to reboot with the xen kernel--i dont think i want to do that--though, not really sure why. i need to keep ISPConfig untouched.   Hello, I'm having problems with my SQL Server 2008 installation (10.0.2531.0 - SP1 installed). It works as a database server for small hosting environment (about 500 sites). I'm getting errors like this: The client was unable to reuse a session with SPID 62, which had been reset for connection pooling. The failure ID is 29. This error may have been caused by an earlier operation failing. Check the error logs for failed operations immediately before this error message. in Windows event log and when I run this: SELECT * FROM sys.dm_os_performance_counters WHERE object_name = 'SQLServer:General Statistics' I see that one of counters looks a little odd: Logins/sec 429 Connection Reset/sec 163459 Logouts/sec 399 User Connections 30 Logical Connections 33 any ideas how to check what is causing this problem?

• Webmin and/or port 10000 not working

  I've recently installed Webmin on a Ubuntu server but I can't get it to work. I asked a recent question about saving iptables but it turns out you don't need to "save" iptables changes. Anyway, I still can't get Webmin working after opening the port up: iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 10000 -j ACCEPT It seems that either the command is not opening up port 10000, or there is a separate problem with Webmin. If I run iptables -L I see lines like the following, but no port 10000: ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:5555 state NEW ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:8002 state NEW ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:9001 state NEW However, there is a line: ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:webmin Any ideas why Webmin is not working? The IP address works fine and we can view web sites on the server, but https://[ip]:10000/ (or http) doesn't work.

  Howdy, I have a client who has a WAN with 7 sites. At one site in particular, randomly about 4-5 clients do not get an IP address. The local gateway is a cisco 871 and relay's to a windows server in a Data Center running a valid scope for the subnet. If I put in a cisco 1800 and configure a dhcp scope (disabling the scope on the server) all clients get an ip address and everything is right with the world. The Wan providing keeps saying it's a local issue although we can work around with the 1800. The provider says a 3Com switch is at fault and the 1800 does not have a local switch, and because the 871 does, means the internal switching will receive a different uplink policy. The 3Com is the only managed switch in the subnet. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Reuben

  I currently have a Windows Server 2003 setup to serve multiple sites via IIS. One of our directories needs to allow access to only 1 specific AD Security Group. I know there are two ways to accomplish this. One is using IIS to add permissions and the other is to set permissions on the folder/directory itself. A script runs at night and populates the content so users only need read permissions to view it in a browser. My question is which one is preferred?

  When my Ubuntu Apache server (apache2) starts up I get a warning message that reads: [warn] NameVirtualHost *:80 has no VirtualHosts however, the web server is working fine... could anyone explain what I might have wrong in my site's configuration to make it give me this warning? the config file in question (located in /etc/apache2/sites-available) reads like this (details removed for brevity) <VirtualHost *> <Location /mysite> # config details here... </Location> # use the following for authorization <LocationMatch "/mysite/login"> AuthType Basic AuthName "My Site" AuthUserFile /etc/sitepasswords/passwd Require valid-user </LocationMatch> </VirtualHost> Could the fact that I'm using <Location> be a part of the problem?

• Windows Update when Group Policy Forbids

  I am in the administrators group for my local Windows XP machine and I would like to get updates via http://update.microsoft.com/[1]. However, this is prevented via the group policy: Network policy settings prevent you from using this website to get updates for your computer. Is there anyway to override this specific policy for my machine or my user? [1] Several installed applications are Microsoft based, but are not part of the machine standard (eg Visual studio). As such, I am not getting the updates for these applications. I could periodically go to the various application sites and look for hotfixes, but that is beyond tedious.

  I'm having a hard time finding information about whether implementing ipv6 or using a stretched vlan is a better option for geographically dispersed sites is better. Does anyone know: Problems with stretched vlans (mac address broadcasting etc) costs for devices to solve those problems pros for using IPv6 instead EDIT. What I am looking for is pros and cons against implementing the equipment required to implement stretched IPv4 vlans vs simply using IPv6 to solve the same problems. Eg admins stretch vlans instead of route because protocol X can't be routed, but IPv6 can encapsulate protocol X so there is no need to worry about that problem.

• website uses an invalid security certificate (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

  I am running IIS 7 on Windows Server 2008. I have two websites: www.website01.com www.website02.com I have an SSL Certificate for each website. When I access a secured page on www.website02.com I get the error: www.website02.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for www.website01.com. (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain) I have googled this error and I understand that it is caused by the fact that I have bound both sites to the same IP Address / Port No. (443). However, I don't know what I need to do to remedy this situation. Would someone please help. Thanks in advance. Kind Regards Walter

• Project Server 2007 Task Updates hangs on 'Loading Grid...'

  A strange problem began occurring after applying MOSS2 (KB953334) and the August 2009 cumulative update to our Project server. When a user enters the 'Task Update' screen they are prompted to download a new ActiveX control. Upon refresh, and subsequent access attempts, the user is presented with a blank grid with the caption 'Loading Grid...' We have attempted to fix this issue by updating the 'Trusted Sites' list and changing the security settings according to KB818046. However, nothing seems to definitely fix the problem. Also, when the problem randomly fixes itself, it still occurs when viewing specific projects. Any ideas on a fix?

• Cisco VPN Connection - No internet no nothing

  Hi all, Sorry if this has been posted, I tried searching but I am not exactly sure what I am looking for, I am a developer not a networking guy. We have a client whom we need to use Cisco VPN client to connect to their servers. I have installed the software, dropped in the provided .pcf file, and I can connect. However, when I do, I lose all local and internet capabilities, no hosts resolve, and I still can't connect to their internal FTP and development sites. This leads me to believe either a setting is wrong in my Cisco software, and/or their network is not correctly configured. Does anyone know anything about Cisco VPN'ing that can give me a hand? My colleague seems to indicate that they need to enable split tunneling on their end (or a similar setting).

• I removed my-freeze.com NetAssistant, but now can't access two websites

  I used "Revo Uninstaller" to uninstall the spyware which left me with a problem using Internet Explorer so then downloaded the free version of "Hijack This" from the website and, not reading the Super User answer correctly, used fix for the general issues it found and saved the log file of the other queries. NetAssistant is completely gone or appears to have - Malwarebytes Malware remover cannot find anything and most Google searches now seem to work correctly. However in removing it I seem to have made an error and now whenever I search for and try to open or try to directly access two sites which I had tried to access via NetAssistant whilst infected IE8 says they cannot be displayed. One of them is Wikipedia and I use both regularly. I am not sure at what point this happened I think it may have been after using Revo Uninstaller and the second section where it looks for references to netassistant (in the registry?). Not sure if this is relevant but I can remember deleting some flags or something relating to Internet Explorer but not sure what. Any suggestions?

• Using nginx + wordpress with all wordpress files in a subdirectory

  My setup I am running nginx 0.7.67 on Debian Lenny as a webserver, not as a reverse proxy. I am using php5-fpm to handle my PHP requests, which works fine. My aim I would like to have a wordpress installation that is layed out as described here clean wordpress subversion installation. I would like to have a clean wordpress installation without cluttering my server root directory with all the wordpress files. That means that my wordpress installation would be in /wordpress and my themes and plugins inside /wordpress-content. The important point however is that if you navigate to my domain www.example.com then you would be taken directly to the wordpress blog, without having to specify the subdirectory where wordpress lives. I found a how-to at the nginx site installing wordpress but unfortunately this is for moving the entire wordpress directory instead of redirecting the traffic to it. Instead I would like my wordpress to appear then. Also if I navigate to "http://www.example.com/wordpress" I get a "file not found" error. However if I comment out the fastcgi_split_path_info line in my php5-wordpress.conf at least the wordpress installation works inside /wordpress. I need help how to debug this behavior or where I can find more information. Thanks alot.   How does Subnetting Work, and How do you do it by hand or in your head? Can someone explain both conceptually and with several examples? Serverfault gets lots of subnetting homework questions, so we could use an answer to point them to on serverfault itself. If I have a network, how do I figure out how to split it up? If I am given a netmask, how do I know what the network Range is for it? Sometimes there is a slash followed by a number, what is that number? Sometimes there is a subnet mask, but also a wildcard mask, they seem like the same thing but they are different? Someone mentioned something about knowing binary for this? Not looking for links to other sites (unless maybe you have one post with a bunch of good ones). I already know how to subnet, I just thought it would be nice if serverfault had a generic subnetting answer.

• How to configure Apache so all requests go to single CGI file

  I'm porting a CGI application from an embedded web server to run under Apache. In the effort of changing the least amount required I'm trying to figure out how to configure Apache so any requests coming in go to my CGI program, which then will use the QueryString environmental variable to determine which file needs to be created. I have Apache working now to where it will process my CGI file if it's requested directly i.e. localhost/cgi-bin/cgi_test.out but I need to figure out how to get my application to be called whenever any file is requested: localhost/ - call my application with QueryString set to "" or "/" localhost/thisFile - call my application with QueryString set to "/thisFile" etc. I have been doing all of my configuration testing under /etc/apache2/sites-available/mysite, which has been enabled and the default disabled. Thanks for any help. I've tried the recommendation from here: http://serverfault.com/questions/56082/configure-apache-to-handle-all-requests-via-single-index-php but I keep getting circular redirects.

  Hi There, I have a Sharepoint 2007 web farm installation with two site collections, one is a blank site and the other is a migrated Sharepoint 2003 site collection. I want to move some specific content from the migrated 2003 collection to the 2007 collection, however I also want to change the path of where it exists, an example is that in the migrated 2003 collection HR is under Admin HR, in the 2007 collection I want HR to appear before Admin. I've looked around but haven't found a lot of information regarding how to move specific content between sites, any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

  I have to proxy a site which is hosted on an external webspace through my lighty on example.org. My config so far: $HTTP["url"] =~ "^/webmail" { proxy.server = ("/webmail/" => ( # this entry should link to example2.org ("host" => "1.2.3.4", "port" => 80) )) } The webspace provider has configured my domain as vhost. So if i access http://1.2.3.4/webmail/ lighttpd will only deliver the main site of the webspace provider which says "Site example.org was not found on our server." Any suggestions how i have to configure lighty to proxy sites that are only hosted as vhost (and do not have an ip on their own)?

  I have a number of VirtualHosts config files controlling sites served on Ubuntu server using Apache. I'm writing a ruby script to parse these files, and then display information about the site being hosted. One of the things I'd like to do is display a user friendly name for each site for easier identification, rather than relying on ServerName, or ServerAlias, to determine the site name. Does anyone know of an Apache configuration directive that exists for this purpose, or for displaying other related meta information about a config file, or will I have to use comments rather than a directive instead? • sharepoint 2007 access denied when accessing user profiles via ssp

  Guys I have a really strange problem in regards to sharepoint mysites today I go into user profiles and properties in order to setup a property all of a sudden I get access denied. First off I know that I'm logged in with the correct account after the access denied I decided to click on personalization services and permissions I than get An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface.Exception Information: Cannot complete this action. I'm not seeing anything in the server application logs either. So have any of you guys seen this before is there some kind of way to grant a user account the manage profiles right permission using stsadm. BTW all other fucntions of the ssp are working fine so my question is if the user profiles and my sites of a ssp tanks how do you repair that portion of the ssp? BTW the user accounts that I'm using are site collection owners and also they have full control at the web application level. • Can't create VM with virt-install on Debian wheezy

  Cant find any answers anywhere so here goes. I am trying to CREATE a new virtual machine using the virt-install command from a console on a Debian wheezy install. I keep getting the following output: Starting install... ERROR internal error process exited while connecting to monitor: char device redirected to /dev/pts/1 inet_listen_opts: bind(ipv4,127.0.0.1,5951): Cannot assign requested address inet_listen_opts: FAILED I assumed that the port (5951 in this case) was being used judging by the error message and other sites I visited for an answer, but the same error occurs whatever number I use for the port. I cant see that port being listened upon in netstat either. Anyone have any ideas what may be wrong?
