  • How to install PHPMyAdmin on Linux EC2 instance?

    I just finished setting up a default Linux EC2 instance and would like to install PHPMyAdmin. I already have Apache and MySQL installed but cannot seem to install PHPMyAdmin. I tried using sudo apt-get phpmyadmin but the command apt-get is not recognized. I also tried sudo yum install phpmyadmin but that I get the message No package phpmyadmin available. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

  • rsync over ssh is not working anymore, while ssh itself is working fine (Write failed: broken pipe)

    This issue started happening after i changed router. This is the scenario: Windows7 Host Ubuntu 10.04 Guest (VirtualBox) Ubuntu 10.04 remote server What i used to do is run a very basic rsync command: rsync -avz --delete /local/path/ username@host:/path/to/remote/directory This worked perfect until i did change adsl provider, and i changed router aswell: now, this happens: rsync on Ubuntu Guest is not working anymore (to any random server), if using this new router rsync on Ubuntu Guest is WORKING, if i switch back to old router i tried a new virtual box ubuntu install, and the command is WORKING with both the routers So, the not-working-combo is oldUbuntu + newRouter. To get things worst, i can state that (on the not-working ubuntu) i ping the remote host plain ssh connection to the remote host is working fine (i can auth, connect, and do stuff on the remote host)     I was thinking of setting up a partition on my Vista comp and installing Linux on that partition. I was gonna install Ubuntu on this partition.     Is there a way to set windows 2008 file and folder sharing permission so you only get prompted for a password on certain shares? That is, right now, when I got to \theserver\ I get prompted for a password despite having some shared folders that permit anonymous access. Is there a way, asides from setting the policy sharing model to guest rather than Classic to allow a user from a non-domain pc to go to \theserver\ and see the shares and permit him or her to enter a folder with anonymous access without having to enter a username or password?

  • iPhoto printing PDFs sideways

    When I print to PDF from iPhoto (7.1.5), my scans (which are all portrait) all end up sideways in the PDF file. I've searched high and low for some setting that will alter this. The only one that I could find that would plausibly affect this is the Layout menu item in the Print customisation view, but this has no effect. Even rotating the images doesn't change it. Why is iPhoto printing my PDFs sideways, and how do I get it to stop?

    The title pretty much says everything: I'm using server-side filtering so I need Thunderbird to watch all folders for new messages using IDLE. I've already tried enabling "When getting new messages for this account, always check this folder" but after restarting TB I did not have an IMAP IDLE connection open for every folder. I've also tried setting mail.check_all_imap_folders_for_new (which did not exist before) and mail.server.default.check_all_folders_for_new to true - nothing changed.

    In Photoshop CS6, the default behavior of depressing the spacebar as a shortcut for the Hand tool was working as expected, then stopped for no apparent reason. I have rebooted, closed browsers, shut down all other applications and deleted preferences and the problem persists. The spacebar works properly elsewhere, including Photoshop CS4. Is there a keyboard shortcut setting I'm missing (I've checked Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts and can find nothing for the spacebar, and can not add it to the Hand tool). This is on OSX Lion 10.7.4

  • Windows 8 screen goes black after a minute

    My laptop screen goes black after about a minute of inactivity. I've already tried setting the Screen Saver to anything other than Blank and increasing the Wait but it still keeps happening. Also checked my Power Options, the plan I currently have is set to turn the screen off only after an hour. If I move the mouse or press any key on the keyboard the screen wakes up. Any other ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?

  • Image thumbnails flashes and then disappears in Windows Vista

    I have Windows Vista installed on my machine and I am facing this really annoying problem. Whenever I open a folder having images, image thumbnails appear for an instant and they are replaced by standard file icon. Argh... Points to note: Setting "Always show icon, never thumbnail" is unchecked Running Windows Aero theme (with transparency support) Have 4GB of RAM on my machine so memory is not a problem Please can you suggest a solution?
