• Code is exectuting but the view is not loading when called form a function?

  I have a viewBased application with the viewController class mainView. In it I am loading various views(different nibs) depending upon certain actions that I do. I have added a popoverController with a barbutton in the mainView. Its intialized with a tableviewController class named popClass. When I select certain row in the popover, I want the view in my mainView to load someother view(as I do when i do certain actions). For that I have written a function in mainView Controller class and is calling it from the popOver class. Function and the lines of code are executing but nothing is happening. Even the log lines are printed but no action takes place. What is the problem? OR is there anyother way to make the view change in mainView by using the popover?

• How may I see the data in the Oracle view like I see it through the application ?

  when I navigate through the Oracle application with my application user and the right responsibility, I see the data. I use the "record history" menu to see which table/view is used by application. So, I got PA_EXPEND_ITEMS_ADJUST2_V. When I'm connected with apps user in a sqlplus session, SELECT * FROM PA_EXPEND_ITEMS_ADJUST2_V gives me 0 rows. I guess that there's something is misconfigurated with the apps but what ? How may I view the rows of PA_EXPEND_ITEMS_ADJUST2_V using apps user in a sqlplus session ? How may I see the data in the Oracle view like I see it through the application ?

• which is better, creating a materialized view or a new table?

  I have some demanding mysql queries that are needed to grap same up-to-date datasets from 5-7 mysql tables. I am thinking of creating a table or materialized view to gather all demanding columns from other tables, so as to increase performance. If I create that table, I may need to do extra insert / update / delete operation each time other tables updated. if I create materialized view, I am worrying if the performance can be greatly improved. Because data from other tables are changing very frequently. Most likely, the view may need to be created first everytime before selecting it. Any ideas? e.g. how to cache? other extra measures I can do?

I have a set of collection classes off a generic base of List. These classes have public constructors but contain only static methods that return collections. • Multiple indexes for a Java Collection - most basic solution?

  Hi, I'm looking for the most basic solution to create multiple indexes on a Java Collection. Required functionality: When a Value is removed, all index entries associated with that value must be removed. Index lookup must be faster than linear search (at least as fast as a TreeMap). Side conditions: It should ideally work with JavaSE (6.0) alone - no extra libraries, if possible. If necessary, then only small (not something like Lucene), common and well tested libraries. No database! Of course, I could write a class that manages multiple Maps myself. But I'd like to know, if it can be done without - while still getting a simple usage similar to using a single indexed java.util.Map. Thanks, Chris

  I'm new to MVC2 in ASP.NET/C#, so please forgive me if I misunderstand something. I have code similar to this in my Controller: var singleInstance = new Person("John"); ViewData["myInstance"] = singleInstance; return View(); So in my view, Index.aspx, I want to be able to reference members in that object. For example, Person has a member called Name, which is set in the constructor. In the view I want to get Person.Name from what is stored in the ViewData object. Ex.: <%= ViewData["myInstance"].name %> That doesn't work. The only real workaround I've found is to do something like this: <% var thePerson = ViewData["myInstance"]; print (or whatever the method is) thePerson.Name; %> Any help would be much appreciated... This was so much easier in PHP/Zend Framework... sigh

Edit: As Jon correctly remarks, Dictionaries are not the kind of thing that's sorted, so I should mention that I only want to do this when displaying results to the user, and it doesn't matter if later on the last item is different. • how do i get a layer's frame to automatically resize based on its superlayer's frame or its view's f

  I'm experimenting with using cagradientlayer to draw gradients in our app instead of having a subclass of uiview manage gradients. One snafu that i've come across is that when the view that has the gradient as a sublayer of its main layer gets resized to fit the data i am trying to show, the layer doesn't resize along with it. I end up having the gradient layer end at the original frame size while my view's frame is much larger. Is there a way to have the sublayer autoresize to fit its superlayer's frame, or the superlayer's view's frame?

I wrote an post method with no parameters and it does go into that method

  I've been slowly transitioning from a traditional web forms architecture to the MVP pattern (Passive View). So far, it's been fairly easy to implement b/c the views I've dealt with have all employed a classic PostBack model. However, I've come across my first view that will refresh portions of itself via web services. I can't grok where the web service should live (Presenter I think) or how to expose that asmx end point to my View while still maintaining the clean separation of concerns/testability that MVP affords me. I've searched far and wide for some examples on how this might be implemented and have come up with nothing. Please help!

• Is there a good collection library for C-language?

  We have to maintain and even develop C-code of our legacy system. Is there good collection library that would support Java/C# (new versions) style collections. Hashtable, HashSet, etc. Of course without objects, but with structs. The HashTable key limitations to "strings" and ints is not a problem. It wouldn't be bad if it's free even for commercial use. I'm back to C from C# and I must say i'm depressed using our own libraries and the language in general. We're using VS2005 and MS C-compiler if that has nothing to do with anything.   With MVVM, I think of a view-model as a class that provides all the data and commands that a view needs to bind to. But what happens when I have a database entity object, say a Customer, and I want to build a class that shapes or flattens the Customer class for use in a data grid. For example, maybe this special Customer object would have a property TotalOrders, which is actually calculated using a join with a collection of Order entities. My question is, what do I call this special Customer class? In other situations, I'd be tempted to call it a CustomerViewModel, but I feel like "overloading" the notion of a view-model like this would be confusing in an MVVM project. What would you suggest?

  I am working on a project in java and I was hoping to be able to collect statistics from the client and a possible problem that I fear will occur is the manipulation of the variables used for collection which will lead to illegitimate statistics. Is it in any way possible to prevent the manipulation of variables or is it always possible? For example: I want to log the actions made per hour from the client. The variable acting as a counter for the amount of actions performed is manipulated and a much larger amount is added to the counter. This data is then uploaded to the server (Of course using a multi-tier architecture to prevent even more possible problems) and considered 'legit.' Is there any way to prevent this?

  Hello. In looking through samples I have seen a number of examples where it is possible to present data within a wpf applicaiton by binding to collections. However I was wondering is it possible to write to a collection from an applicaiton. Say for example i have 2 or more fields such as names and I wanted to have hte ability to add up to three names in my application ( all stored in memory). Will collections serve this purpose. In the past with asp.net I have done this by creating data tables and storing values on the fly or during the session. I am trying to learn WPF and I was wondering if collections work in the same fashion? If so could you please post an example or point me to references that show examples of this? • Subsonic: Select on a View, locks the table update?

  Hi, I have a Web site live and running now. I am using the Subsonic to handle the database connections etc. I am getting time out expired error while updating a table (say Employee). When I check sp_who2, I see the suspended connection for the PID which is updating with a block by anothor pid, so I run the profiler and found out when ever this suspended connection occur, the blocked pid is a select statement on the view (say ActiveEmployees, which is the same as the table but with some where conditions). Anyone know why a Select statement on the view could cause failure in update. If it is other (like select fails due to update) may be reasonable. Is there any way for me to make select on a view without locking the table? PS: I am using the Sql server 2005 and subsonic 2.2. Thanks

• problem with iOS 4.2 when user press the list view item to go to UIwebview page and the navigation button disappears on the second visit

  My app is a Navigation based application. The main menu contains the list view items. if I clicks one of them, it goes to next view which in this case take me to UIwebview embedded web site. Everything is looking great. I can view the content of web page, the navigation control back button which takes to the main menu if I press it. However, I'm having issue when I try to go back to main menu if i visit that subview the second time. It loads the content of UIwebview web page, but the navigation button is gone and won't let me go back to main menu. This problem only appears on latest iOS 4.2 version. Otherwise it works great on 3.1 to 4.1. I would appreciate any hints or inputs. Note this seems not working for subview using UIWebview embedded web content. I don't have any issue with other subviews

  Let's say I have two webforms, A.aspx and B.aspx, where B.aspx contains some simple web controls such as a textbox and a button. I'm trying to do the following: When A.aspx is requested, I want to dynamically call and load B.aspx into memory and output details of all the controls contained in B.aspx. No luck.

• Using "Go To Controller" and "Go To View" in Visual Studio 2008 when controllers are in different as

  The title is basically the question. We decided to move our controller classes to a separate library and reference it in our asp.net mvc 2 application. It works just fine when running the application, meaning the controllers are being referenced while the application is running. But when doing development (in Visual Studio 2008) and I am in a View and try to use the context menu "Go To Controller" it can't find our controllers in the new assembly. Same with when I am inside a controller, I don't have the Context menu to "Add View" or "Go To View" anymore. Does anyone one know how to remedy this? I searched like crazy but haven't found any solutions or even half solutions. Thanks!

  Hi all: I am working on The ausdcf.org to try adding several banner ads in swf format to the top. Everything starts to work, but I've got several questions that need your help: The client chose not to go with Google AdManager, but prefer a "minimal approach" to do this task. What I am trying to do is sort of "mimicking" the way Google AdManager does for banners, that is, to split the chance of each particular swf to be shown to the visitor evenly among the banner collection. Definitely I can add some jQuery code to do this from client-side, a random number generator and if-else statement would work - just $.load() it! However, what if I'd like to make sure those disabled Javascript (is there any now btw?) still be able to see different swfs in each visit. Any suggestion on how to approach this? • What's the best way to return something like a collection of `std::auto_ptr`s in C++03?

  std::auto_ptr is not allowed to be stored in an STL container, such as std::vector. However, occasionally there are cases where I need to return a collection of polymorphic objects, and therefore I can't return a vector of objects (due to the slicing problem). I can use std::tr1::shared_ptr and stick those in the vector, but then I have to pay a high price of maintaining separate reference counts, and object that owns the actual memory (the container) no longer logically "owns" the objects because they can be copied out of it without regard to ownership. C++0x offers a perfect solution to this problem in the form of std::vector<std::unique_ptr<t>>, but I don't have access to C++0x. Some other notes: I don't have access to C++0x, but I do have TR1 available. I would like to avoid use of Boost (though it is available if there is no other option) I am aware of boost::ptr_container containers (i.e. boost::ptr_vector), but I would like to avoid this because it breaks the debugger (innards are stored in void *s which means it's difficult to view the object actually stored inside the container in the debugger)

• How do I display each view once as they are loaded, in Android?

  I have an Android application that works off of a smaller database, around 300 entries. To view the database, I have created a custom view that contains individual rows of data. Then I query the database, and add each line to a newly created custom view. The problem is that it takes a little white for all of this to be created/loaded, so when you open the application, it sits for a few seconds. How can I load one line of data, then display it, then the next, append it, etc.?
