  • two HashMap iteration

    I have two HashMaps and I can iterate both hashmaps with following code Iterator it = mp.entrySet().iterator(); while (it.hasNext()) { Map.Entry pairs = (Map.Entry)it.next(); String firstVal = pairs.getValue(); } Iterator it2 = mp2.entrySet().iterator(); while (it2.hasNext()) { Map.Entry pairs2 = (Map.Entry)it.next(); String SecondVal = pairs2.getValue(); } myFunction(firstVal, SecondVal) Is there anyway to iterate two hashmaps at the same time without using two loops? Currently, I have a method that accepts two parameters and each parameter value is stored in first and second hashmap. I have to iterate first hash then second to get values. I think there must be a good way to do it but I don't know :( P.S: there could be some errors in above code as this is just an example to explain my problem. Each iterator is a method in original program and accept one parameter. I couldn't copy past real time functions as they are HUGE !

  • Should I make sure arguments aren't null before using them in a function.

    The title may not really explain what I'm really trying to get at, couldn't really think of a way to describe what I mean. I was wondering if it is good practice to check the arguments that a function accepts for nulls or empty before using them. I have this function which just wraps some hash creation like so. Public Shared Function GenerateHash(ByVal FilePath As IO.FileInfo) As String If (FilePath Is Nothing) Then Throw New ArgumentNullException("FilePath") End If Dim _sha As New Security.Cryptography.MD5CryptoServiceProvider Dim _Hash = Convert.ToBase64String(_sha.ComputeHash(New IO.FileStream(FilePath.FullName, IO.FileMode.Open, IO.FileAccess.Read))) Return _Hash End Function As you can see I just takes a IO.Fileinfo as an argument, at the start of the function I am checking to make sure that it is not nothing. I'm wondering is this good practice or should I just let it get to the actual hasher and then throw the exception because it is null.? Thanks.

  • Replacing TCP/IP pipe with WCF

    So currently my company is using a TCP/IP connection to talk between server and client programs, right now we are building this connection using System.RunTime.Remoting, which is clunky and not that reliable. It was built about 5 years ago and the model keeps getting reused and it's starting to propagate some issues, ports used, refused connections, etc. I'm trying to find some resources on how to change this over to WCF but I'm not really sure what I am looking for or what I should be searching. If you want some more information on what were actually doing with it I can go into some detail, but I'll need to pull up the code and make sure I explain it completely. thanks!

    Hi Stackers, What is the best way to access my models and forms from a controller of a module? Let's explain with "pictures": /application/module/storage/controllers/IndexController.php needs to call readAction in the class called storage_Model_Files in /application/module/storage/models/Files.php I've made this app's dir structure and these forms and models with zf.sh (Zend_Tool). I've read about all sorts of ways of manually including these files. I want to lazy load them much like everything is done automatically with the default module. I can't seem to find how in the docs. Does that make sense? I have: resources.frontController.moduleDirectory = APPLICATION_PATH "/modules" in my application.ini file. So I can access my controllers fine. Thanks for your help!

    My question related to the next code snippet: static void Main(string[] args) { Lucene.Net.Store.Directory d = FSDirectory.Open(new DirectoryInfo(/*my index path*/)); IndexWriter writer = new IndexWriter(d, new WhitespaceAnalyzer()); //Exiting without closing the indexd writer... } In this test, I opened an IndexWriter without closing it - so even after the test exits, the write.lock file still exists in the index directory, so I expected that the next time I open an instance of IndexWriter to that index, a LockObatinFailedException will be thrown. Can someone please explain to me why am I wrong? I mean, does the meaning of the write.lock file is to protect creation of two IndexWriters in the same process only? that doesnt seems the right answer to me...

    i was learning socket programming in unix using c/c++. I am confused with one function call bind(params..). Actually it takes the adreess structure "sockaddr_in" and we can create the structure in the following way sockaddr_in.*** = somthing.. sockaddr_in..s_addr htonl(INADDR_ANY) **Passing INADDR_ANY will alow to bind all local addresses** My question is , why do we need to use "INADDR_ANY" ? In my knowledge every machine can has only one unique IP Address. In this way there is only one address associated with the machien. Thye bind call should directly bind the socket to the single available address. Please explain what are the different scenarios and why is it so?

  • How to execute a large PHP Script ?

    Well basically I may want to execute a script that may take as much as 1 hours as well. What I really want to do is Send SMS to my users using a third party API. So its basically like I supply my script with an array of phone numbers and fire the method to send SMS. However assuming it take 5 seconds to send 1 SMS and I want to send 1000 SMS which is roughly 1 - 2 hours. I can use set_time_limit() because I am on shared host. One way to do this is store numbers in a session and execute each SMS and use javascript to refresh that page until end. This way I need to keep my browser open and the execution will stop if my Internet Connection is disconnected. So, Is there any better way to do this ? Hope I am clear enough to explain what I want? I want to execute a large script that may take hours to execute without getting timeout.

    I have asked another question on Hebbian learning before, and I guess I got a good answer which I accepted, but, the problem is that I now realize that I've mistaken about Hebbian learning completely, and that I'm a bit confused. So, could you please explain how it can be useful, and what for? Because the way Wikipedia and some other pages describe it - it doesn't make sense! Why would we want to keep increasing the weight between the input and the output neuron if the fire together? What kind of problems can it be used to solve, because when I simulate it in my head, it certainly can't do the basic AND, OR, and other operations (say you initialize the weights at zero, the output neurons never fire, and the weights are never increased!)

For example, in Flex I can create page (list of something) with 3 states: Loading state (just display some animation or label with text "Please wait."), No records state (page with text saying that there is no records) and Page with populated list. It is very easy to operate with states in Flex. Is it possible to implement something similar in Android application? I would appreciate if you provide some examples.

    In python, you can concatenate boolean values, and it would return an integer. Example: >>> True True >>> True + True 2 >>> True + False 1 >>> True + True + True 3 >>> True + True + False 2 >>> False + False 0 Why? Why does this make sense? I understand that True is often represented as 1, whereas False is represented as 0, but that still does not explain how adding two values together of the same type returns a completely different type.

    Hello, Currently I have a a text file with data at the first row is formatted as follow: time;wave height 1;wave height 2;....... I have column until wave height 19 and rows total 4000 rows. Data in the first column is time in second. From 2nd column onwards, it is wave height elevation which is in meter. I would like to plot the follow: ![alt text][1] on the x axis is time. the left hand side is wave height in m and on the right hand side is the distance between each measurment in a model. inside the graph there are 4 plots, each plot is repersent waveight 1, wave height 2etc at a defined distance related to the right hand side y asix. How would you code this in matlab? I am a begineer, please if you could, it will be very useful to give a bit more explain in your answer! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

  • What do you do when you feel you need a variadic list comprehension?

    I would like to make a method where I could give it a list of lengths and it would return all combinations of cartesian coordinates up to those lengths. Easier to explain with an example: cart [2,5] Prelude> [ [0,0],[0,1],[0,2],[0,3],[0,4],[1,0],[1,1],[1,2],[1,3],[1,4] ] cart [2,2,2] Prelude> [ [0,0,0],[0,0,1],[0,1,0],[0,1,1],[1,0,0],[1,0,1],[1,1,0],[1,1,1] ] A simple list comprehension won't work because I don't know how long the lists are going to be. While I love Haskell's simplicity for many problems, this is one that I could write procedurally (in C or something) in 5 minutes whereas Haskell gives me an aneurysm! A solution to this specific problem would help me out a lot; I'd also love to hear about your thought processes when tackling stuff like this.

Let me explain the scenario that I want to achieve:- Consider the below as the Layout I have inside a Parent_Linearlayout: [Linear Layout] (Fill_Parent, Wrap_Content) [ScrollView] Activity's setContentView is set to the Parent_Linearlayout In the application, when a condition is met, I want the Scrollview to be removed from the screen and instead put another View in its place.<br> I've been able to do this, When I remove the ScrollView, I'm applying translate Animation to it so that it seems as if the View has gone to the top, before removing it. But when the animation occurs, the ScrollView translates OVER the Linear layout present above it. How do I restrict it, so that the scrollview does not go over the linear layout, but disappears at the base of the Linearlayout. I want the linearlayout to always stay visible.. I've been trying to do this from quite some time, but I've not been able to get desired results.. Could someone kindly help me out here??

    I have a barcode scanner works as HID device. Everytime a barcode scans it goes directly to windows keyboard, for example if I open notepad I can see the barcode typed there. As far as I know programmatically is it possible to to read HID data from your HID devices. But what happens if the user is already on a form with a text edit control? The scanned code will go inside the text box. Can you block incoming text and make a background-only processing? Can you explain the theory please?

There is a code from "boost\detail\none_t.hpp": namespace boost { namespace detail { struct none_helper{}; typedef int none_helper::*none_t ; } // namespace detail } // namespace boost I didn't see syntax like that earlier and can't explain the sense of that. This typedef introduces name "none_t" as pointer to int in boost::detail namespace. What the syntax is? And what difference between "typedef int none_helper::*none_t" and for example "typedef int *none_t" ?

  • preg_match basics question.

    Hi all. Got some trouble with my preg_match. The code. $text = 'tel: 012 213 123. mobil: 0303 11234'; $regex_string = '/(tel|Tel|TEL)[\s|:]+(.+)[\.|\n]/'; preg_match($regex_string , $text, $match); And I get this result in $match[2] "012 213 123. mobil: 023 123 123" First question. I want the regex to stop at the .(dot) but it doesent. Can someone explain to why it isnt? Second question. preg_match uses () to get their match. Is it possible to skip the parentheses surrounding the different "Tel" and still get the same functionality? Thnx all stackoverflow is great :D

What I think is : f1 returns by value so it creates temporary, of which I am taking address and passing to f2. Now Please explain me where I am thinking wrong?

  • The emulator isn't showing the XML contents

    I have been reading Google's android tutorial (link added in the first comment) and I got a problem... In the tutorial they explain the XML elements (EditText and Button) and in the end they say how to tun the program to see the button + the text field. The problem is, that the emulator doesn't show them.. just a black screen. I even tried adding this line to the onCreate function - System.out.println("Hello World!"); but still the emulator is showing only black screen.. I have excluded flash as a solution and would like to use those fine-looking effects of mootools fx. But the problem is that I'm really lousy when it comes to javascript.     Hello i have the following error: malloc: * error for object 0x2087000: pointer being freed was not allocated * set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug I have no idea what object that is. I don't know how to find it. Can anybody explain to me how (and where) to use malloc_history. I have set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break but i couldn't find out what object is at that address. I receive this after removing an object from an nsmutablearray and popping a view controller manually.   • How can programmers get the quiet working environment they need? [closed]

    We have an open plan office with all our programmers, web designers and client service team. Problem is my programmer team has to put up with dance music and wailing guitars all day due to the fact that designers and client services team think this makes the office a better environment. When I turn it off (by blocking the streaming of music on the router, he-he-he) they complain that its so quiet and dull. How do I explain to them that programmers need a calm quiet environment without coming across like a really annoying geek? Any other thoughts or ideas appreciated.
