It's mostly computer based, which I'm not doing that great at, and little games Dev. But I don't know what do to... I do already have some high level education with a "Level 3 extended diploma".   Possible Duplicate: Is a Master's worth it? I am considering possibly enrolling in distance education at Kaplan University in order to pursue my masters. On one hand, I would prefer to have more free time so that I can continue to study for certifications and play with the technologies that interest me, work on my little side projects, etc. On the other hand, I am wondering how much difference it can make for my career if I go ahead and get a masters. I have been a .NET programmer since about 2004/2005. I'm currently working in a stable position but possibly considering a move to phoenix when my company's contract runs its course. There is not enough time between now and then for me to be complete with my masters, but I'm just trying to consider whether I should start. The main thing I am trying to determine is really whether or not the increase in earning potential is going to make the cost of pursuing my masters degree a good investment. Any thoughts?

  There has been a lot of media attention paid in recent months and years to the increase in CS majors and the possibility of a second tech bubble. Some news reports have suggested that as more people enter CS, the market could be flooded with CS professionals and jobs could be increasingly difficult to find. Is this a bad time to be majoring in computer science? Edit: I'm a non-trad student who allready has a Bachelor's degree in economics and will be pursuing a CS degree starting this upcoming summer semester at the Univ of Kansas. I've been programming for about two/three years and just need a more formal education to fill the holes in my head. I have an interest in CS, it's just that I am worries about the prospects for the future.

  Getting Started with ADF Mobile Sample Apps   Installation Steps Install JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0 from Oracle Technology Network After installing JDeveloper, go to Help menu and select "Check For Updates" and find the ADF Mobile extension and install this. It will require you restart JDeveloper For iOS development, be on a Mac and have Xcode installed. (Currently only Xcode 4.4 is officially supported. Xcode 4.5 support is coming soon) For Android development, have the Android SDK installed. In the JDeveloper Tools menu, select "Preferences". In the Preferences dialog, select ADF Mobile. You can expand it to select configure your Platform preferences for things like the location of Xcode and the Android SDK. In your /jdeveloper/jdev/extensions/oracle.adf.mobile/Samples folder you will find a PublicSamples.zip. Unzip this into the Samples folder so you have all the projects ready to go. Open each of the sample application's .JWS file to open the corresponding workspace. Then from the "Application" menu, select "Deploy" and then select the deployment profile for the platform you wish to deploy to. Try deploying to the simulator/emulator on each platform first because it won't require signing. Note: If you wish to deploy to the Android emulator, it must be running before you start the deployment.   Sample Application Details   Recommended Order of Use Application Name Description 1 HelloWorld The "hello world" application for ADF Mobile, which demonstrates the basic structure of the framework. This basic application has a single application feature that is implemented with a local HTML file. Use this application to ascertain that the development environment is set up correctly to compile and deploy an application. See also Section 4.2.2, "What Happens When You Create an ADF Mobile Application." 2 CompGallery This application is meant to be a runtime application and not necessarily to review the code, though that is available. It serves as an introduction to the ADF Mobile AMX UI components by demonstrating all of these components. Using this application, you can change the attributes of these components at runtime and see the effects of those changes in real time without recompiling and redeploying the application after each change. See generally Chapter 8, "Creating ADF Mobile AMX User Interface." 3 LayoutDemo This application demonstrates the user interface layout and shows how to create the various list and button styles that are commonly used in mobile applications. It also demonstrates how to create the action sheet style of a popup component and how to use various chart and gauge components. See Section 8.3, "Creating and Using UI Components" and Section 8.5, "Providing Data Visualization." Note: This application must be opened from the Samples directory or the Default springboard option must be cleared in the Applications page of the adfmf-application.xml overview editor, then selected again. 4 JavaDemo This application demonstrates how to bind the user interface to Java beans. It also demonstrates how to invoke EL bindings from the Java layer using the supplied utility classes. See also Section 8.10, "Using Event Listeners" and Section 9.2, "Understanding EL Support." 5 Navigation This application demonstrates the various navigation techniques in ADF Mobile, including bounded task flows and routers. It also demonstrates the various page transitions. See also Section 7.2, "Creating Task Flows." Note: This application must be opened from the Samples directory or the Default springboard option must be cleared in the Applications page of the adfmf-application.xml overview editor, then selected again. 6 LifecycleEvents This application implements lifecycle event handlers on the ADF Mobile application itself and its embedded application features. • window.focus() not working in Google Chrome

  Hey folks, Just wondering if Google Chrome is going to support window.focus() at some point. When I mean support, I mean have it work. The call to it doesn't fail, it just doesn't do anything. All other major browsers do not have this problem: FireFox, IE6-IE8 and Safari. I have a client-side class for managing browser windows. When I first create a window the window comes into focus, but subsequent attempts to bring focus to the window do not work. From what I can tell, this appears to be a security feature to avoid annoying pop-ups and it does not appear to be a WebKit issue as it works in Safari. I know one idea someone brought forward was to close the window then reopen it, but this is a horrible solution. Googling shows that I do not appear to be the only person frustrated with this. And just to be 100% clear, I mean new windows, not tabs (tabs cannot be focused from what I've read) and all the windows being opened are in the same domain. Any ideas?   I am trying to use Bill the Lizard's code to send an email using Google Apps. • robots.txt not updated

  I have updated some url's and files in robots.txt file to block url's and files from google search results but, still files displaying in search results. As per a suggestion from a site I tried to update the robots.txt by below steps. In Google Webmaster tools, Health - Fetch as Google - type the url and click the fetch button. but, still files displaying in search results. Note: in Google Webmaster tools, Health - Blocked URL's - robots.txt file - downloaded date looks two dates back.

• One google IP address is failing. Is there a way to force a switch to different one?

  The google ip address 74.125.53.100 is failing. I know no one would believe this so I did an online ping: As this image shows one of the IP addresses for Google is failing. But there are others. If I type them in then I can get to Google just fine. But when I try to search, Google reverts back to the broken IP. Is there any way for me to say "I want to do a search with one of the working IP addresses"?

• SharePoint 2010 Single Page Apps without a Master Page

  Originally posted on: http://geekswithblogs.net/djacobus/archive/2014/06/06/156827.aspxWell, maybe a stretch, but I am inclined to believe it is so.  I have been using  the JavaScript Client Object Model (JCSOM) for about 6 months now and I believe it can do about 80% of my job quickly without much fanfare.  When building sites in SharePoint no one wants the OOTB list views, etc. They want a custom look and feel!  I used to think in previous engagements that this would mean some custom server code or at least a data-form web part.   Since coming on-board in my current engagement, I have been forced because we don’t own the hosting site to come up with innovative ways to customize the UI of SharePoint.  We can push content via sandbox solutions and use JCSOM from within SharePoint Designer to do almost all customizations.  I have been using the following methodology to accomplish this: 1. Create an HTML file, which links CSS and JavaScript Files 2. Create and ASPX Web Part Page, Include a Content Editor Web Part and link to the HTML page created above.   So basically once it was done, I could copy , paste,  and rename those 4 items: CC, JS, HTML. ASPX and using MVVM just change the Model, View, and View-Model in the JavaScript file.  in about 5 minutes, I could create a completely new web part with SharePoint data.  Styling would take a little longer.  Some issues that would crop up: 1.  Multiple(s) of these web parts would not work well together on the same page (context). 2.  To separate the Web parts and context I would create a separate page for each web part and link them to a tabs layout via a Page Viewer web part or I frame.  Easy to do and not a problem but a big load problem as these web part pages even with minimal master had huge footprints.  (master page and page web part zones)   I kept thinking of my experience with SharePoint 2013 and apps!  The JavaScript was loaded from within the app, why can’t we do that in 2010 and skip the master page and web part zones. • Caching pictures from Picasa

  Hello all, I'm creating an offline-capable IPhone app for showing pictures on picasa. It was pretty simple to use JQTouch and Google Data API (via JSONP), so I was able to show the albums and thumbnails in 3 hours, however I want that data to be cached, and for that I'm going to use the HTML 5 Application Cache (via xxx.manifest file). Now the question is what hosts shall I write there in order to cache pictures hosted on picasa. So far I've seen something like lh6.google.com or lh4.ggpht.com does anybody knows the full list of servers?

• DataNucleus Enhancer flakey?

  I'm creating a GWT app in Google App Engine, and using Google data store. Does anybody else have the problem of the DataNucleus being flakey as all get out? I can save a class, and DataNucleus will do it's thing just fine. If I change ANYTHING in the class (even adding whitespace) and then save, I get the following error: DataNucleus Enhancer completed with success for 0 classes. Timings : input=37 ms, enhance=0 ms, total=37 ms. Consult the log for full details DataNucleus Enhancer completed and no classes were enhanced. Consult the log for full details Once I clean my project, DataNucleus is happy again. Is this common when using eclipse? Is there a workaround?

• Why is only the suffix of work_index hashed?

  I'm reading through the PDF that Brett Slatkin has published for Google I/O 2010: "Data pipelines with Google App Engine": http://tinyurl.com/3523mej In the video (the Fan-in part) Brett says that the work_index has to be a hash, so that 'you distribute the load across the BigTable': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSDC_TU7rtc#t=48m44 ...and this is how work_index is created: work_index = '%s-%d' % (sum_name, knuth_hash(index)) ...which I guess creates something like 'mySum-54657651321987' I do understand the basic idea, but is why only one half of work_index is hashed? Is it important to hash only part of it leaving the suffix out? Would it be wrong to do md5('%s-%d' % (sum_name, index)) so that the hash would be like '6gw8....hq6' ? I'm Java guy so I would use md5 to hash, which means I get id like 'mySum' + 32 characters. (Obviously I want my ids/keys to be as short as possible here.) If I could hash the whole string my id would be just 32 chars. Or would you suggest to use something else to do the hashing with?

• Geolocation Null in lat and long

  I have had issue today in one application where Geolocation is not working. Even on this page http://slaveryfootprint.org/survey/#where_do_you_live . When you enter a location , its showing null lattiude and longitude. Even though it search for autolocation, it can point the right location. and it happened all if a sudden today which was working fine since yestrday night and when I see in console it is returning null lat and long and null for city and I did not change the code at all.
