  • Firefox extension file structure best practice

    - by user353969
    Is it a good practice to put js files of the "content" folders in inner folders representing their logical module? For example have a "datalayer" and "view" folders? I looked into some well known extensions, such as Firebug, and saw no such devision. I'm a Java developer so its seems much more natural to divide the files logically.

  • Are open source projects considered community service?

    - by Gio Borje
    I'm currently a junior in high school and I've been slacking off on my community service to develop websites and do some personal projects in C#. Currently, I'm developing an web-based IM-Chat through node.js (the server-side Javascript). If I were to post this or other projects on Github or on Google Code, could this be considered community service?—to the programming community?

  • Java 6 ScriptEngine and JSON.parse problem

    - by Tim
    The Rhino release that is included in Java 6 ScriptEngine does not have a JSON parser. I've tried including crockfords JSON2.js in my script on the scriptengine.eval(). When I try to do the JSON.parse, it ends up giving me a script error that .replace is an unknown function. .replace is referenced several places in JSON2, and it works fine inside a browser (IE7, IE8, FF3). Anyone see this and have a suggestion?

  • Robust Javascript parser in Java

    - by Misha Koshelev
    Dear All: I am looking for a robust Javascript parser written in Java - by which I mean a Javascript parser that is able to handle most real world Javascript. I am only interested in parsing Javascript, not in executing it. I have found Rhino: http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.dev.tech.js-engine.rhino/browse_thread/thread/1eff23a8ee57b991 Am I missing anything? Is this the best solution? Thank you! Misha

  • I'm cloning a table row that contains an input that's being set to jQuery TimeEntry that errors when

    - by Kendall Crouch
    I'm adding a TimeEntry to a page where the user can add a row (clone) to a table. The row that is cloned is hidden (display:none). The user clicks a button and javascript is run to clone the row which renames all of the fields and then appends the new row to the table. <tr id="blankRowShift"> <td> <input type="text" id="timeStart" name="timeStart" /> </td> <td> <input type="text" id="timeEnd" name="timeEnd" /> </td> <td> <select id="userLevel"> <option value="0">Please Select One</option> <option value="2">Admin</option> <option value="1">Employee</option> <option value="3">Scheduler</option> </select> </td> </tr> var r = $("#tbl #blankRowShift").clone().removeAttr("id"); $("#timeStart", r).attr("name", "timeStart" + nn).attr("id", "timeStart" + nn); $("#timeEnd", r).attr("name", "timeEnd" + nn).attr("id", "timeEnd" + nn); $("#userLevel option:nth(0)", r).attr("selected", "selected"); $("#userLevel", r).attr("name", "userLevel" + nn).attr("id", "userLevel" + nn).attr("value", 0); $("#tbl").append(r); $("#timeStart" + nn).timeEntry({ show24Hours: false, showSeconds: false, timeSteps: [1, 15, 0], spinnerImage: 'includes/js/spinnerOrange.png', beforeShow: customRangeStart }); $("#timeStart" + nn).timeEntry('setTime', new Date()); $("#timeEnd" + nn).timeEntry({ show24Hours: false, showSeconds: false, timeSteps: [1, 15, 0], spinnerImage: 'includes/js/spinnerOrange.png', beforeShow: customRangeEnd }); $("#timeEnd" + nn).timeEntry('setTime', new Date()); The spinner works just fine and the times can be changed. Then when submitting the form, I validate the time. The getTime errors in jQuery with the message "elem is undefined var id = elem[ expando ];". I've placed the statement 'console.dir(input)' in the _getTimeTimeEntry: function and it returns nothing for the cloned fields. el = $("#timeStart" + i); if (el.timeEntry("getTime") == null) {

  • JVM missing Rhino

    - by Andrei
    I have a project that uses the ScriptEngine to process some javascript, and worked well on my machine, but when i send the projects's jar to the server, i had discovered that the server's JVM doesn't have Rhino built-in, returning null when the code calls a new ScriptEngineManager().getEngineByName("javascript"); I went to the rhino's download page, get the most recent version, and extracted the js.jar from it, added the jar on the project, but still have the same problem.

  • nSticky/static variable references in for loops

    - by pthulin
    In this example I create three buttons 'one' 'two' 'three'. When clicked I want them to alert their number: <html> <head> <script type="application/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="application/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var numbers = ['one', 'two', 'three']; for (i in numbers) { var nr = numbers[i]; var li = $('<li>' + nr + '</li>'); li.click(function() { var newVariable = String(nr); alert(i); // 2 alert(nr); // three alert(newVariable); // three alert(li.html()); // three }); $('ul').append(li); } }); </script> </head> <body> <ul> </ul> </body> </html> The problem is, when any of these are clicked, the last value of the loop's variables is used, i.e. alert box always says 'three'. In JavaScript, variables inside for-loops seem to be 'static' in the C language sense. Is there some way to create separate variables for each click function, i.e. not using the same reference? Thanks! Edit: The solution is to use jQuery.data to associate arbitrary data with each element: <html> <head> <script type="application/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="application/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var numbers = ['one', 'two', 'three']; for (i in numbers) { var nr = numbers[i]; var li = $('<li>' + nr + '</li>'); li.data('nr', nr); li.click(function() { alert($(this).data('nr')); }); $('ul').append(li); } }); </script> </head> <body> <ul> </ul> </body> </html>

  • Javascript source code analysis ( specifically duplication checking )

    - by David
    Partial duplicate of this Notes: I already use JSLint extensively via a tool I wrote that scans in intervals my current project directory for recently updated/created .js files. It's drastically improved productivity for me and I doubt there is anything as good as JSLint for the price (it's free). That said, is there any analysis tool out there that can find repetitive or near-duplicate code blocks, the goal being to make it easier to find opportunities to consolidate large files or small/medium sized projects?

  • CSS Extra Small Spacing

    - by Doug
    http://www.dougymak.com/cnit133/hw8.part4.html So if you look at the tabs and look at hw2, you'll notice it has a little extra spacing that overlaps the spacing on the right. That's because wrapped the div in the <li>. You will notice the others not having it. I don't understand why is it making that extra little spacing after I wrap it. Just for the record, this is for CSS spacing which has nothing to do with the JS.
