• Exclude complete namespace from FxCop code analysis?

  Is it possible to exclude a complete namespace from all FxCop analysis while still analyzing the rest of the assembly using the SuppressMessageAttribute? In my current case, I have a bunch of classes generated by LINQ to SQL which cause a lot of FxCop issues, and obviously, I will not modify all of those to match FxCop standards, as a lot of those modifications would be gone if I re-generated the classes. I know that FxCop has a project option to suppress analysis on generated code, but it does not seem to recognize the entity and context classes created by LINQ 2 SQL as generated code.

  Hello, I was about to develop iphone app and I want suggestion from the expert since I am totally newbie in it. I have one classified website which is written in php and mysql. What I want to create is Iphone app which can view those classifieds. There will be no complicated function at first version. It will be have different categories and query and display according to the category. And if there's new classified ad, they will get push notification. What I want to know is, what should i go with ? Native or using phonegap ? Is phonegap supports push notification ? Is native app can just get the results through mysql ? or do i need to change it to sql lite ? Any speed different between native and phone gap ? Any advantages and disadvantages ? Thanks.

• Using MobileMe idisk as a git repository

  I am trying to use git and MobileMe as a version control system for a personal project I am working across several computers. So far i have done the following. Created and empty bare repository on my local computer $ mkdir myproject.git $ cd myproject.git $ git init --bare $ git update-server-info I then copied the myproject.git directory to the mobile me disk, and sync my computer with mobile me. I then switched to the directory where my project was on my local machine, set the remote origin and try to push the local repository to mobile me $ cd myproject $ git remote add origin https://<username>@idisk.me.com/<username>/myproject.git/ $ git push --all Im am then asked for my password twice. The first time is the mobile me password, any other password gets an error. After entering the second password, and believe me i've tried everything, terminal just hangs. So what am I doing wrong? • Linq2SQL using Update StoredProcedure

  We use queries generated by Linq for data retrieval but for INSERT and UPDATE we do not allow generated SQL, but restrict to the use of stored procedures. I connected the Update and the Insert behaviour in the DBML to the stored procedures. The procedures are called, the data gets inserted/updated = all if fine, except in the case of optimistic concurrency. If a record was changed between retrieval and update, the update should fail. When Linq generates the Update statement itself, it throws a ChangeConflictException as expected, but using the stored procedure no Exception is thrown. Thanks a lot for any help on this!

• Combining Hg Commits Before Pushing?

  Let's say I am working on a feature branch cloned from an hg repository - I make some commits and then push the changes back to the repository as expected. However, is there any way to combine multiple commits into a single changeset for the push? For example, today I committed some changes and then remembered I hadn't updated the README file - which meant a 'single' set of changes actually consisted of 2 commits to my local repository. When I pushed these changes back to the original repository it would of been useful to combine the two as a single entity to save cluttering up the repository history.

• Staging database good practices

  Hi, I'm about to deploy to production a fairly complex site and for the first time need a staging environment where I can test things in a more realistic environment, especially with regard to some external services that cannot be run locally. My general plan is to develop & test first locally, push simple changes (small bug fixes, HTML/CSS, JS, etc) direct to production, and for larger changes, push first to staging subdomain for thorough testing and then to production. I don't think that I need to keep the staging and production databases in sync (occasional manual updating would do) but I'm wondering if there are any general good practices with regard to maintaing a staging environment in relation to a production environment, especially when it comes to databases. Any general thoughts/advice/experience would be appreciated.

• iPhone landscape navigation back action shows vertical view transition?

  I have a regular UINavigationController and I push a series of UIViewController into the stack. The view transition for push controller is horizontal animation transition: [self.navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; However, when I press the Back button on the navigation bar, the view transition animation is vertical (vertically dropping down the previous controller/view). I don't seem to find any way to make this horizontal. This happens only in Landscape mode. Portrait mode the transition all happens as horizontal flip transition. Can anyone shed any light on this? • TableView frame not resizing properly when pushing a new view controller and the keyboard is hiding

  Hi, I must be missing something fundamental here. I have a UITableView inside of a NavigationViewController. When a table row is selected in the UITableView (using tableView:didSelectRowAtIndexPath:) I call pushViewController to display a different view controller. The new view controller appears correctly, but when I pop that view controller and return the UITableView is resized as if the keyboard was being displayed. I need to find a way to have the keyboard hide before I push the view controller so that the frame is restored correctly. If I comment out the code to push the view controller then the keyboard hides correctly and the frame resizes correctly. Any ideas would be really appreciated. I have been banging my head against the keyboard for a while trying to find out what I am doing wrong.

While researching the topic I found this: Java -- .Net rough equivalents It's a nice list but it's not quite exhaustive and is missing the key .NET 3.0 technologies and a few other tidbits. To complete that list: what are the near/rough equivalents (or a combination of technologies) in Java to the following in .NET? I'm following the official guide at https://gerrit-review.googlesource.com/Documentation/install-quick.html#_already_existing_project. However, when issuing the push command all the branches and tags, except "master" which I'm currently in, are "prohibited by Gerrit".   Lets say you have a DataTable that has columns of "id", "cost", "qty": DataTable dt = new DataTable(); dt.Columns.Add("id", typeof(int)); dt.Columns.Add("cost", typeof(double)); dt.Columns.Add("qty", typeof(int)); And it's keyed on "id": dt.PrimaryKey = new DataColumn[1] { dt.Columns["id"] }; Now what we are interested in is the cost per quantity. So, in other words if you had a row of: id | cost | qty ---------------- 42 | 10.00 | 2 The cost per quantity is 5.00. My question then is, given the preceeding table, assume it's constructed with many thousands of rows, and you're interested in the top 3 cost per quantity rows. The information needed is the id, cost per quantity. You cannot use LINQ. In SQL it would be trivial; how BEST (most efficiently) would you accomplish it in C# without LINQ?

• Polling duplex does not scale... what's the alternative?

  Our tests showed that the polling duplex binding simply does not scale and can not be used on a service within a web-farm or even a web garden. We have looked at TCP/IP sockets for a client push method, but the firewall issue is does allow us to use sockets. I was wondering what is the alternative "free" solution to this problem? allowing us to scale and allowing us to push data to client... I have also tried the solution in this article http://tomasz.janczuk.org/2009/09/scale-out-of-silverlight-http-polling.html but at the end, there was too much polling on a database, and performance was affected. Our Silverlight application need a pub/sub design, but it needs to be reliable and scalable... any ideas?

• Remove files from Bazaar

  I'm using Bazaar (bzr) to keep source code for a website updated, but we've ran into a problem when we remove files from version control. The files we are removing are ones we never intended to version to begin with. When this happens we use bzr rm --keep to remove the file from version control, but keep the file in the file system. Doing a bzr push or bzr pull results in the removed file(s) being removed on the other branches (other sites that use our code) We need a way to make sure that a bzr push or bzr pull doesn't actually remove those from the working copy. Anyone have any ideas?

  I have a post-update hook on my server, such that when I git push it does a pull on the live web directory. However, while the push always succeeds, the post-update hook sometimes fails. The hook is pretty simple: #!/bin/sh # # An example hook script to prepare a packed repository for use over # dumb transports. # # To enable this hook, rename this file to "post-update". cd /var/www env -i git pull I'm pushing updates from a variety of places, but sometimes I have to login as root on the server and manuall do a env -i git pull I only have to do it 20% of the time though. • Opening AFOpenFlowView already in landscape mode

  I'm using the open source CoverFlow replacement from here: http://fajkowski.com/blog/2009/08/02/openflow-a-coverflow-api-replacement-for-the-iphone/ When I detect that a certain view has gone from portrait to landscape mode, I instantiate an AFCoverFlowView and push it onto the navigation stack. If I do so in response to (void)didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation The cover flow view comes up as though the phone were still in portrait mode. If I push the view in response to (void)willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation it works perfectly - the view comes up in landscape mode with the phone in landscape mode Unfortunately, the device doesn't reliable get willRotateToInterfaceOrientation messages. I have tried making sure that [[UIDevice currentDevice] beginGeneratingDeviceOrientationNotifications]; is in loadView but that doesn't help with the notificiations. So, my questions are: Is there a way to reliably get willRotateToInterfactOrientation? if not How do I instruct AFCoverFlowView to come up in landscape mode (if the device is already in landscape mode)

  I realized that when I am trying to process items in a concurrent queue using multiple threads while multiple threads can be putting items into it, the ideal solution would be to use the Reactive Extensions with the Concurrent data structures. My original question is at: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2997797/while-using-concurrentqueue-trying-to-dequeue-while-looping-through-in-parallel/ So I am curious if there is any way to have a LINQ (or PLINQ) query that will continuously be dequeueing as items are put into it. I am trying to get this to work in a way where I can have n number of producers pushing into the queue and a limited number of threads to process, so I don't overload the database. If I could use Rx framework then I expect that I could just start it, and if 100 items are placed in within 100ms, then the 20 threads that are part of the PLINQ query would just process through the queue. • UIScrollView resizes when a UIViewController is pushed in UINavigationController. Why?

  Hi! When I push a UIViewController within a UINavigationController, the UIScrollView in the view changes dimensions. Now even I am trying to resize the UIScrollView. It wont simply resize. It maintains the framework dimensions. Any idea why this would be happening. Example: My NIB has a view which has a scrollview with dimensions (320, 430) now when I push the UIViewController associated with the view the scrollview still shows dimensions has 320, 430, but is drawn much smaller then 320,430 Any suggestions in this regard.

  So, I'm thinking of having the following centralized setup with Git (each of these are clones): stable development developer1 developer2 developer3 So, I created my stable repository git --bare init made the 'development' clone git clone ssh://host.name//path/to/stable/project.git development and made a 'developer' clone git clone ssh://host.name//path/to/development/project.git developer So, now, I make a change, commit, and then I push from my developer account git commit --all git push and the change goes to the development clone. But now, when I ssh to the server, go to the development clone directory, and run "git fetch" or "get pull", I don't see the changes. So what do I do? Am I totally misunderstanding things and doing things wrong? How can I see the changes in the 'development' clone that I pushed from my 'developer' clone? This worked fine in Mercurial.

  Sorry for the vague title but I really didn't know what title to give to this problem: I have the following result set: ID Data Culture 1 A nl-NL 2 B nl-NL 3 C nl-NL 4 A en-GB 5 B en-GB 6 A en 7 B en 8 C en 9 D en 10 A nl I would like to mimic the ASP.Net way of resource selection, user Culture (nl-NL) SELECT Data FROM Tbl WHERE Culture = 'nl-NL' Or when there are no results for the specific culture, try the parent Culture (nl) SELECT Data FROM Tbl WHERE Culture = 'nl' Or when there are no results for the parent culture, try the default Culture (en) SELECT Data FROM Tbl WHERE Culture = 'en' How can I combine these SELECT-statements in one T-SQL statement? I'm using LINQ so a LINQ expression would be even greater. The OR-statement won't work, because I don't want a mix of cultures. The ORDER BY-statement won't help, because it returns multiple records per culture.
