• Mac OS X: How to change word separator characters?

  Depending on your system, the word separator characters change the way you can select/delete a word (e.g. by double clicking on it or using a key combination with your keyboard). The fact is that I hate the default behavior of OSX. For example: Take the following line of code: obj.attr1.innerAttr. If my cursor is at the end of the line and I press alt + backspace, it will delete everything and not just innerAttr. I only found some apps (like iTerm) which let you change the word separator characters. Is there a way to change it for the whole system?

  Messing about a bit, i have a working Adobe After Effects plugin with a bit of Obj-c / Cocoa in it (NSArray and custom objects - not ui stuff). The SDK guide states:- Always use After Effects memory allocation functions. In low-memory conditions (such as during RAM preview), it’s very important that plug-ins not compete with After Effects for OS memory, and deal gracefully with out-of-memory conditions. Failing to use our functions can cause lock-ups, crashes, and tech support calls. Don’t do that. If you’re wrapping existing C++ code, overloading new and delete to use our functions will save substantial reimplementation. On Windows, derive all classes from a common base class which implements new and delete. so my question.. is something compatible with the above statement possible in Obj-c?

• Updating Linking Tables

  I've currently adding a bit of functionality that manages holiday lettings on top of a CMS that runs on PHP and MySQL. The CMS stores the property details on a couple of tables, and I'm adding a third table (letting_times) that will contain information about when people are staying at the property. Basic functionality would allow the user to add new times when a guest is staying, edit the times that the guest is staying and remove the booking if the guest no longer wants to stay at the property. Right now the best way that I can think of updating the times that the property is occupied is to delete all the times contained in the letting_times database and reinsert them again. The only other way that I can think to do this would be to include the table's primary key and do an update if that is present and has a value, otherwise do an insert, but this would not delete rows of data if they are removed. Is there a better way of doing this?

  I'm at a company, we keep recieviing new codebases from a third party vendor. we'd like to track the changes in subversion. is there a way to replace a branch with the new code and track the changes? currently we just delete all files in the branch, and then add the new files and commit. we'd like to track the files, but I havn't found a tool that will easily deal with all the .svn directories found in subfolders. does anyone know a tool that will replace an svn directory with a new branch and create the respective modify add and delete records as if the code base was organically modified?

  I have a ternary association table created using the following mapping: <map name="Associations" table="FooToBar"> <key column="Foo_id"/> <index-many-to-many class="Bar" column="Bar_id"/> <element column="AssociationValue" /> </map> I have 3 tables, Foo, Bar, and FooToBar. When I delete a row from the Foo table, the associated row (or rows) in FooToBar is automatically deleted. This is good. When I delete a row from the Bar table, the associated row (or rows) in FooToBar remain, with a stale reference to a Bar id that no longer exists. This is bad. How can I modify my hbm.xml to remove stale FooToBar rows when deleting from the Bar table?

• Index on column with only 2 distinct values

  I am wondering about the performance of this index: I have an "Invalid" varchar(1) column that has 2 values: NULL or 'Y' I have an index on (invalid), as well as (invalid, last_validated) Last_validated is a datetime (this is used for a unrelated SELECT query) I am flagging a small amount of items (1-5%) of rows in the table with this as 'to be deleted'. This is so when i DELETE FROM items WHERE invalid='Y' it does not perform a full table scan for the invalid items. A problem seems to be, the actual DELETE is quite slow now, possibly because all the indexes are being removed as they are deleted. Would a bitmap index provide better performance for this? or perhaps no index at all?

• NHibernate filters don't work with Session.Get

  I'm trying to implement a Soft-deletable repository. Usually this can be easily done with a Delete Event listener. To filter out the deleted entities, I can add a Where attribute to my class mapping. However, I also need to implement two more methods in the repository for this entity: Restore and Purge. Restore will "undelete" entities and Purge will hard-delete them. This means I can't use Where attribute (since it block out soft-deleted entities to any access) I tried using filters instead. I can create a filter and enable or disable it within session to achieve the same result. But the problem is filters don't have any effect on Session.Get method (they only affect ICriteria based access). Any ideas as to how solve this problem? Thanks

  I have a column Definition for each colume that extends AbstractColumnDefinition these columns are put in a DefaultTableDefinition. example: NAME | SIZE | RES | DELETE | this style (AT THE END OF THE PAGE ) is added to the column names if you notice all of them are with a cursor pointer , meaning a hand shows up when i hover above each one. my question is would I be able to remove the coursor for delete or in general for a certain column and keeping it for another one .. i tried to do that with each column Definition but there is no such thing as remove or addstyle even to like put my own style. • How does Read-Only affect a Directory?

  I've found that I can write (say, copy a file into) a Read-Only directory. That is, a Directory with ...Attributes = FileAttributes.ReadOnly.I can even change its name. The only thing I've found that can't be done is to delete it. Is that really the only thing that ReadOnly prevents? EDIT: Here's the code: (The Directory is empty.) (new DirectoryInfo(path)).Attributes = FileAttributes.ReadOnly; Directory.Delete(path); It throws an Access to the path 'c:\... is denied. exception. But after changing ReadOnly to Normal it works fine. So what does a ReadOnly prevent, and what doesn't it prevent?

I have 2 tables Members and Managers Members has: memberID, Name, Address Managers has: memberID, EditRights, DeleteRights EditRights and DeleteRights are of type bit.   hi there, i`m using sql server ce together with sync framework. however, sync framework creates some system tables when calling the CreateSchema() method of the SqlCeClientSyncProvider. (e.g. __sysSyncArticle, __sysSyncSubscription, ...). i'm not able to delete these tables with sql statements within Visual Studio. (states that "drop table is not supported") and when trying to just create a SqlCeCommand i get a message that the specified tables does not exist. what does it take to delete sql ce system tables programmatically? thanks

  Whenever someone asks what to do with code that is no longer needed the answer is usually "delete it, restore it from source control if you need it back". Now how do I find that piece of source code in the repository? Let's limit scope to SVN for simplicity - I suspect that using any other source control system will not make much difference in this aspect (correct me if I'm wrong). If I delete that code and commit the changes it will no longer be in the latest revision. How do I find it without exporting each revision and searching thoroughly (which is nearly impossible)?

  I am usingtextarea to get some inputs. A label shows the updated chars left. It works fine in IE, but in FF 3.0, after reaching the max limit, it doesn't allow to delete or backspace key. I am using a javascript function on keypress event of the textarea. the javascript code is function checkLength() { var opinion = document.getElementById('opinion').value; if(opinion.length > 50) alert("You have reached the mas limit."); else document.getElementById('limit').innerHTML = 50 - opinion.length; } while on the page, i am using this <label id="limit">50 </label> <textarea id="opTxtArea" onkeypress="javascript:checkLength();"></textarea> Everything is working fine. The problem arises in FF, when the inputs reach the max limit, the message is displayed, but it doesn't allow to delete or backspace.

  I'm not sure how to describe this, but basically I have a PHP class file: class HelloHello { public function getSomeData($input_parameter){ // code to retrieve data from the database } public function deleteSomeData($input_parameter){ // code to delete data from the database } } This class is on the server and is part of the backend that connects with a database, and it's meant to be accessed by the frontend SWF only (not to be directly accessed). I've setup Flex to read this class and access it. But how do I make sure that someone doesn't develop a script that can call this php file directly and access its methods? For example using a script to add data in a fast automated way, or use the delete method directly, ouch. Is this a legitimate concern, or this can't be done?

• Memory leak while using emoticons on CRichEditCtrl

  I'm developing a text editor class (for a chat application) based on CRichEditCtrl (MFC) with emoticon support. After i load the emoticon's bitmap, I use the function OleCreateStaticFromData to insert it into CRichEditCtrl. After that i just delete the bitmap object allocated by myself. I can verify (using a GDIView utility) that all resources i allocate have been properly released. This works perfectly: the bitmap (emoticon) is drawn on the CRichEditCtrl window and is handled just like a character. My problem is that I don't know how to deallocate the memory (internal) allocated by OleCreateStaticFromData to manage the bitmap (emoticon). The memory allocated for any emoticon used is never released, even if i delete the CRichEditCtrl object. I'd like to know how to fix that issue. Is that a MFC's issue or i'm doing something wrong ?   I have two entities, Department and Person. Department has a to-many relationship to Person. The Person entity has a hireDate property. I'm using the predicate "count(person) = 0 OR none person.hireDate %@" to find Departments without any Persons in them or Departments that haven't hired anyone since a recent date. When the app first starts up (new user experience) and Departments are inserted and no Person have been inserted, the fetch request with this predicate returns nothing. However, if I create insert a new Person entity and delete it, then save the store, the fetch request will return all the Departments. I've found a work around where, I just insert a new Person and delete it, then save the store, the fetch request as I expected it to work. I've found that inserting a new Person and deleting it without saving will not correct the problem. Is this a bug with Core Data or is this a bug with how I've designed my app?

  I'm creating a table called news_feed, this will log all the actions a user performs. Lets say I want to store user1234 deleted article412 at midday I then need a table like so timestamp | user_id | subject_type | subject_id | method . there would be 5 potential methods to log, methods = add/edit/delete/update/report and lets say 2 possible subject_type subjects = article/comment I know i could make my own key where 0=add, 1=delete etc etc but this would make my queries cumbersome to use/write as i'd need to keep consulting the key. Is there a MySql type which can read lots of identially values quickly? is this ENUM? how do i use it?!!

I have a button in the parent document that says "Delete selected", and I'd like to be able to click this button and populate a hidden field in my parent page with the values of the selected checkboxes in the child iframe. My checkboxes look like this: <input id="Checkbox1" type="checkbox" value="47" title="Select this row" name="selectItem"/> I have an instance of jquery on my parent page so I can make use of jquery selectors, I just have no clue as to the syntax needed to do this.
