• WebDAV mapped drive asking for username and password

  Since we migrated domains we're having problems with mapping a drive using a WebDAV connection in our login script. It's a simple net use x: \\server.domain.com\folder Which used to authenticate automatically (all we needed to do to make this happen was to put the server in the intranet zone in the internet explorer settings). Since the domain migration though, nearly everyone is being prompted for a username and password to connect. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Any help much appreciated. The webdav share is on a Windows 2003 server running IIS.

  Background I have a broadband connection. The fiber optic cable running from outside to my building is connected to a converter unit. The output of the converter is connected to a router. The router also provides 8 LAN ports to which the computers are connected. Shortly speaking, all computers are interconnected in a workgroup as opposed to a domain. My computer hosts an IIS web server using a private or local domain name www.mydomain.local. I has added 127.0.0.1 www.mydomain.local to the hosts file in the server C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc so I can browse the site from within the server. So far so good. How to make other computers connected to my workgroup able to browse my web server via my private local domain www.mydomain.local? Note: Again, I am a newbie. I have no idea what I should do next.

  Newbie question: I've got the following set up, the server 2008, the iis and the smtp. I've my mydomain.com set up with DNS pointing to my public ip, www and smtp both. Now I'll be sending alot of emails from my web app to people and this works fine. What I also want is for people to be able to send us email. Please point me in the right direction. • Disable caching on a specific Classic ASP page

  Hi, Not sure if I really am on the right forum, but if not, just tell me. I have a page that is coded in Classic ASP which is used to send email. We are currently having a problem in which the page seem to be sent twice sometime. Upon checking, we found out that those who have this problem are coming from big organisation, so it was suggested that their server might cache the file for some reason. I would like to know, is there a way in HTML (or Classic ASP) to prevent that from happening? Or is it in IIS that we must set this up? Thanks,

• HTTP downloads slow - FTP of same file very fast - Windows 2003

  I am having some issues with download speeds on my site via http, i am averaging around 70kbps downloading a file that is around 70mb. But if i connect to my server via FTP and download the same file on the same computer / connection i am averaging about 300+kbps. I know my server has alot of connections at any one time, probably around 400 connections. My server has a 1gbps connection to the internet so there is plenty of bandwidth available, as proven with the FTP. I have no throttling of any kind enabled in IIS. • Why does a pdf file download result in varying bytes logged, all with sc-status 200

  I have a mojoportal CMS installation on an IIS7 server where users are reporting problems downloading a pdf file. It always downloads fine for me and most others, either displaying in browser or in Adobe Reader. Using logparser to query the IIS logs, all the responses are status 200 (OK) or 304 (Not modified), but the bytes sent vary quite a bit. Sometimes zero, some 211, some about half the full file size of 27059, and lots in between. Plenty show the full size of 27059. Do these other entries for smaller byte counts represent errors of some kind, correlating with the problems reported? Is this likely to be a browser/client issue or a server side problem? If there is any other info that would be helpful let me know. This is a shared hosting server though so I am somewhat limited in what I can dig into on the server.

• IIS7 FastCGI downloads quit at 4128760 bytes on slow connections

  I'm using FastCGI via IIS7 to host a PHP application. For whatever reason downloads that are streamed via PHP (i.e. a script that outputs a file/bytes as a response) download perfectly fine on high-speed connections but on anything slower (even on DSL) quits at EXACTLY 4128760 bytes (~3.9MB) - which makes me think it's a configuration issue... We only started having this problem when we switched from Apache to IIS - this also points to a configuration problem, I think. But if it's a configuration issue, why would it only affect slower connections? Does anyone know where (or how) I could possibly change a setting like this? I've tried changing the idleTimeout, executionTimeout, and activityTimeout values in my web.config but this hasn't helped at all. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. • First requests are painfully slow

  I am running Redmine under IIS using Zoo. Installation was done using the Web Platform Installer and the default configuration has not been touched. However, when using the application, the first requests take very long to complete (sometimes more than one minute). During that time, the ruby.exe causes some CPU load (about 15%). According to the log files, it's mainly the views taking that long to render: Started GET "/redmine/login" for IP at 2012-09-04 09:54:08 +0200 Processing by AccountController#login as HTML Rendered account/login.html.erb within layouts/base (42150.5ms) Completed 200 OK in 43508ms (Views: 43008.5ms | ActiveRecord: 0.0ms) Rendered account/login.html.erb within layouts/base (42435.1ms) Completed 200 OK in 44100ms (Views: 43523.3ms | ActiveRecord: 0.0ms) After the initial delay, further request times are totally acceptable. Any ideas on how to speed up the warmup time?

• Date header returned by IIS7 is wrong

  I am serving an ASP.NET application from IIS 7 but we are experiencing some weird cookie issues. The code works fine in other environments so we are assuming this is specific to this server (related question). We have been looking at the http headers returned and someone pointed out that the date http header is showing the 1st of Jan rather than today's date (so far it always shows that date regardless of what the current date is). The system clock is set correctly (and we can print out the current time/date via DateTime.Now correctly as well) so we can't work out why it's now working. Does anyone have any ideas?   I have a customer who is attempting video playback via HTTP progressive download of very large files ( 1 GB). There is no problem once a file is cached at the edge via my CDN, but hits to my origin (first hits prior to edge-cache population) experience stalling and loss of sync between audio and video about an hour and a half into playback. This occurs pretty reliably at that point, suggesting that some threshold somehwere is getting hit. Are there IIS configuration knobs governing HTTP Response size? Other data points: I am unable to replicate this problem. I am looking at client bandwidth and last mile issues. I am looking at possible encoding recipe dependencies. But this problem never came up when we were using a "push" cache configuration (CDN-hosted origin), so something funky serverside at my origin seems like a likely culprit. Thanks ...

• Which free IMAP-supporting webmail would you recommend?

  Considering a machine with IIS 7.5/PHP 5.2/asp.net and mysql/MSSQL available, which webmail would you pick? Don't think it's relevant but the mail server is installed on localhost, and is hmailserver. If it's one using asp.net it'd be a bonus, but PHP is ok as well and probably offers more choices. "Client side" look and feel definitely needed, flash/silverlight/ajax not a problem. I have also seen this question, but being asked almost 2years ago and being focused on php webmails, I thought that some better option could've been released in the meantime.

• HTTP 401 error in Windows Authentication disappears after swapping Providers

  The IIS 7 on Windows 2008 R2 is acting really weird. We deploy our web apps as web sites with appcmd.exe. After they are deployed, if I browse to them, I'll get HTTP 401 errors. The web sites are only have Windows Authentication enabled and the providers are Negotiate and NTLM in such order. But if I swap the providers, the HTTP 401 error goes away. Even if I swap it back, the errors are still gone. So the order of the providers doesn't seem to matter, what matters is the swapping. It must have triggered something. Even if we delete the web site and application pool and reinstall the web sites, the errors are still gone. So far, we can't reproduce it easily since it happens randomly. Has anyone experienced this? How do I go about to troubleshoot it?

  Good day. I have stepped into project that requires a server migration that would change the means of authentication for our CAC/PKI SSL enabled website. We are using iPlanet 7 and Oracle Directory Server Enterprise 7 as our LDAP server. The situation is that the site is still CAC/PKI enabled, but at the firewall. The information we want to authenticate against is now in the http header. How do I configure iPlanet and LDAP to authenticate against the header instead of SSL? Thanks. Edit, Can this be done with IIS keeping the Directory Server EE LDAP in tact or is the ACL iPlanet only?

  I'm trying to create a Self-Signed Certificate in IIS 7 (Win7 Ultimate x64), and getting the following error: I found this question on SF, which says I should set permissions on the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys folder to allow rights - but that's also not working. Firstly, note that "Everyone" has "Full Control" rights: And when I try to delete and recreate rights, look what comes up: I am logged in as a user with admin privileges, and I've even tried running Explorer with Admin rights... nothing seems to help. What do I do to get this right?

• Issues Converting Plain Text Into Microsoft Word Bulleted Lists

  I'm a programmer. I hate status reports. I found a way to live with it. While I am working in my IDE ( Visual Slickedit ) I keep a plain text file open in one of the file/buffer tabs. As I finish things I just jot down a quick note into that file. At the end of the week that becomes my weekly status report. Example entries: The Datatables.net plugin runs very slowly in IE 8 with more than 2,000 records. I changed the way I did the server side code to process the data to make less work for the plugin to get decent performance for the IE 8 users. I made a class to wrap data from the new data collection objects into the legacy data holder objects. This will let the new database code be backward compatible with the legacy code until we can replace it. I found the bug reported by Jane. The software is fine. The database we use for the test site has data that is corrupted in a way it wouldn't be for production site At the end of the month I go back to each weekly *.txt file and paste all of the entries into a MS Word file for a monthly report. I give the monthly report to a liason to the contracting company who has to compile everyone's monthly reports into a single MS Word 2007 document. His problem, soon to be my problem, comes when he highlights my paragraphs like the ones above to put bullets in front of my paragraphs. When he highlights my notes to put bullets in front of them with MS Word 2007, Word rearranges the text a bit and the new line chars/carriage returns stagger the text so the text is no longer in neat chunks. It just puts some kind of newline character in anyway. Searching/Replacing those chars in the text files has the result of destroying the paragraphs. Once my notes are pasted into MS Word, Word automatically translates them into paragraph breaks. Searching/Replacing them there has similar results. Blank lines separating the notes disappears. One big mess. What I would like is to be able to keep adding my status notes to a text file as I am now, but do something different when I paste the notes into MS Word such that my liason can select the text, hit the bulleting command and NOT have the staggered text as shown above. • ARR servers in the Load Balancing pool automatically go from unavailable to available

  I have 3 IIS web servers in an ARR web farm. When we do rolling releases, we take one server offline as a backup server and move it into an "Unavailable State" I have noticed that with ARR, servers will not stay in this state...they come back online automatically hours or days later. Does anyone know how to remedy this situation? This is very bad as the server that is down is typically not running the correct version of our code. I need to keep a server unavailable until i tell it otherwise.

  Hello, We have the BT broadband forwarding on to an internal machine with an IIS web server running. Thats fine, it goes to the sharepoint app, so the outside world can see this app. Thing is we need another app running (a MVC ASP.Net app) and I have set it to :8080. Internally I can get to it fine, but not when I type the IP number. eg. 80.100.232.129:8080 is this something I need to set on the broadband router or something with SBS or somewhere else? thanks in advance

• Why aren't my old DLL's running with my app pool in 32bit mode?

  I am moving my websites from a server 2003x86 environment to a server 2008x64. the 2008 server is using iis 7.5 and the app pool I am using is configured for 32bit mode. I get an error 'Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3' Server.createObject failed.' I beleive that it is in the DLL's that all the ASP sites point to. My programmers, as usual, say it isn't code or the DLL's. Am I missing something to make these old DLL's work? By the way these sites are connecting to a SQL 2000 Database.

• WebsitePanel 2 totally NOT working on Windows Server 2012 on Azure

  I’m having many troubles installing WebSitePanel on an Azure Virtual Machine, with Windows Server 2012. I followed the steps in http://www.websitepanel.net/documentation/deployment-guide/server-configuration/preparing-windows-server-2008-r2-for-websitepanel-installation/ and installed everything I needed. Then, I installed the WebSitePanel Standalone Server package with the installer. I opened the endpoint for the port 9002 on Windows Azure; so I pointed my browser to myhostname.cloudapp.net (note: in Azure you don’t have a static IP address, instead you have an hostname like [hostname].cloudapp.net). So, loading myhostname.cloudapp.net:9002 fails, and any browser shows something like “Unable to load page”. Notice: if I try to load the WebSitePanel Portal directly on the server, I get an error HTTP 400 Bad Request. How come? IIS works perfectly on the server, in fact the default website runs without problems on port 80.

  Hi All, I have a friend that hosts his website on IIS and Windows Server 2003 R2 32-bit. He has .WMV files and .MPG and others and some of these are 30 mb in size! He wonders why users complain the site is slow! So my question is how can we reduce the size of these movies? What software? What settings for bit-rate, etc? Is there free software? I can use either a Mac or a PC. Thoughts are appreciated.
