  • Virus on site but can't find where

    WARNING! THIS IS ABOUT A VIRUS ON MY SITE. IT APPEARS IT HAS BEEN THERE FOR SOMETIME AND I'VE HAD NO PROBLEMS. BUT PLEASE BE CAREFUL. READ EVERYTHING I SAY AND SEE IF YOU CAN HELP ME WITHOUT VISITING THE LINK. AVG PICKS UP ON IT AND BLOCKS IT, MCAFEE DOES NOT. Sorry about the warning, obviously i'm not here to get anyone infected or anything like that. Basically I run the website sortitoutsi dot net. Ages ago I got a virus on my computer, they got hold of my FTP passwords and added some lines of javascript to the top of my site. I removed them and believe it was fixed. However i'm using the "Web Developer" extension for Firefox and chose to view all javascript on my page and find there are various links to horrible urls such as: gittigidiyor-com.excite.co.jp.webmasterworld-com.eastmusicdirect.ru:8080/aboutus.org/aboutus.org/google.com/skycn.com/torrents.ru.php and gittigidiyor-com.excite.co.jp.webmasterworld-com.eastmusicdirect.ru:8080/index.php?jl= These terms do not appear anywhere. In the source code, in any of the javascript or the css. I also can't see that there are any rogue images that I don't recognise either. So i've no idea where this javascript is coming from. Can anyone suggest how I can find references to these links and remove them? I can see them both in the Web Developer firefox extension and in the net tab using Firebug. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    We have several Linux servers that authenticate Linux user passwords on our Windows Active Directory Server using PAM and Kerberos 5. The Linux distro we use is CentOS 6. On one system, we have several Version Control Systems like CVS and Subversion, both of which authenticate users throug PAM, such that users can use their normal Unix resp. Windows AD accounts. Since we started using Kerberos for password authentication, we experienced that CVS on a client machine is often much slower in establishing a connection. CVS authenticates the user on every request (eg. cvs diff, log, update...). Is is possible to cache the credentials that kerberos uses, sucht that is does not need to ask the Windows AD server every time a user executes a cvs action?   • IIS SMTP server (Installed on local server) in parallel to Google Apps

    I am currently using free version of Google Apps for hosting my email.It works great for my official mails my email on Google is [email protected]. In addition I'm sending out high volume mails (registrations, forgotten passwords, newsletters etc) from the website (www.mydomain.com) using IIS SMTP installed on my windows machine. These emails are sent from [email protected] My problem is that when I send email from the website using IIS SMTP to a mail address [email protected] I don’t receive the email to Google apps. (I only receive these emails if I install a pop service on the server with the [email protected] email box). It seems that the IIS SMTP is ignoring the domain MX records and just delivers these emails to my local server.   • Creating Custom ISO Images

    I am working on creating some custom ISO images using primarily Fedora and CentOS. I want the image to be a bootable live CD with some specific files on it. I also want it to have the option to be able to be downloaded to the hard drive. I've read some various articles but want to get a few more opinions since I've never done this before. Currently I'm trying 2 different methods. Install Fedora with the configuration exactly how I want it and then run the livecd-tools program to pull everything I currently have to an ISO. I haven't got this to work yet but I do see a few issues with it. Such as the default passwords I had to put in. Run a Fedora live CD and install a few things I want on it and then copy the image of it. I believe this would work better since it has more of a live cd feel. However I"m not 100% sure how I should go about pulling the current image to my own ISO. I know some people have said to use mkisofs and a few other programs but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Shut Out of XP - No Admin Password or CDR

    I inherited an old WinXP/Linux dual-boot machine from the stoneage. Because it has Linux, the regular boot process is replaced with the Fedora boot loader; I cannot, therefore, press F8 strategically to tell my PC to boot from CD. Even if I could, it's a moot point; the CDR doesn't seem to recognize any CDs. To make things worse, there's no option to network boot. The original user is probably long gone; I don't know the password for any of the Administrator group users. I can login using my corp account, but that's unprivileged on this machine. Since I'm not an admin, I can't do crazy things, like looking at boot.ini. Or deleting files. I only have 500MB free on my C drive. I'm pretty sure I can't boot from a USB, since I didn't see any settings for this in my BIOS. How can I get admin access for my user? Edit: Things I've tried: Boot from CD (CD not recognized) Launch CD from XP (CD not recognized) Install Daemon Tools Lite so I can install from an ISO -- don't have admin privileges XP password recovery tool -- requires admin privileges Adding an admin user -- no access to Control Panel Users since I'm not an admin Logging in as both the admin users on the system (trying some standard passwords) Using Fedora to chntpw (the Fedora version installed is ancient -- 2.7)

  • getent passwd fails, getent group works?

    I've almost got my AD integration working completely on my OpenSUSE 12.1 server. I have a OpenSUSE 11.4 system successfully integrated into our AD environment. (Meaning, we use ldap to authenticate to AD directory via kerberos, so we can login to our *nix systems via AD users, using name service caching daemon to cache our passwords and groups). Also, important to note these systems are in our lan, ssl authentication is disabled. I am almost all the way there. Nss_ldap is finally authenticating with ldap server (as /var/log/messages shows), but right now, I have another problem: getent passwd & getent shadow fails (shows local accounts only), but getent group works! Getent group shows all my ad groups! I copied over the relavent configuration files from my working OpenSUSE 11.4 box: /etc/krb5.conf /etc/nsswitch.conf /etc/nscd.conf /etc/samba/smb.conf /etc/sssd/sssd.conf /etc/pam.d/common-session-pc /etc/pam.d/common-account-pc /etc/pam.d/common-auth-pc /etc/pam.d/common-password-pc I didn't modify anything between the two. I really don't think I need to modify anything, because getent passwd, getent shadow, and getent group all works fine on the OpenSUSE11.4 box. Attempting to restart nscd service unfortunately didn't do much, and niether did running /usr/sbin/nscd -i passwd. Do any of you admin-gurus have any suggestions? Honestly, I'm happy I made it this far. I'm almost there guys!

    I've updated my mail server last night, from Debian etch to lenny. So far I've encountered a problem with my postfix installation, mainly that I managed to broke the IMAP access somehow. I've been mainly looking for a way to make the courier-imap logging more verbose, like can be seen for example here. Edit: Sorry about the mess, I've found that I've been funneling the log through grep imap, which naturally didn't display entries for authdaemond. The verbose logging configuration entry is found in /etc/courier/imapd under DEBUG_LOGIN=1 (set to 1 to enable verbose logging, set to 2 to enable dumping plaintext passwords to logfile. Careful.)

  • Alternative to Page_Load in ASP.NET (and a good WTF story)

    Woo, I have a doozy of a problem (might even be one for the Daily WTF) and I'm hoping there's a solution. (My apologies for the long post...) I have been working on a website that I inherited about a month ago. One of the parts I have been working on is fixing one of the controls (essentially a dynamic header bar) so that it displays additional information as requested by my users. As part of doing this project, I created a Site.master file so that I wouldn't have to recode the header bar into every single page. When I first started doing this, it seemingly worked very well. All the pages I had developed looked great and the bar updated as it should displaying the information as it should. Well, when I dropped the Site.master (and this control) into older site pages (ones I did not specifically develop) I noticed that it looked bad on some of them, but not all of them. When I say it looked bad, basically, the control would left-align itself to the page rather than center as it should. I spent a couple hours debugging to no avail - CSS looked correct, the HTML appeared to be okay, I didn't see anything in the Javascript (although, I did miss something as I'll point out in a second), and even the old code looked correct (to the best that it could - it's not very well written). Another coworker took a look at the site and couldn't find anything at first, either. It wasn't until I just thought to look at the rendered source code of the page (I had been working in the developer view up to this point in IE8) that it became clear what was wrong. The original developer performs searches on many of the pages. To accomplish this, he queries the database for ALL the data and then loads them into Javascript arrays within the page so he can get access to them. This in itself is a huge problem because we're talking about thousands of items, and it obviously isn't scalable (and, yes, the site is slow). However, it finally clicked what was screwing up the Site.master - when he loads the data into the Javascript arrays, he writes out the data to the HTML upon Page_Load using numerous Response.Write(string) calls. The WTF (and what was messing me up) is that he inserts the Javascript before the DOCTYPE causing IE to go into quirks mode! So, because I need to at least get this release out (I'll fix the real problem later), I was wondering: is there a way I can force this Javascript to be inserted elsewhere into the HTML—after the DOCTYPE at the very least? Right now, all the Response.Write() calls are being done in the Page_Load method. I just need them to be inserted later.

  • Compatibility between Qt and Boost sockets libraries

But, the server uses Boost.asio as it's sockets library. As the client uses Qt for it's GUI, I was wondering if there is any problem in using de Qt Networking library for handling the sockets. BUT if I stay in the editor for a longer time, say 2 minutes, and posting I end up at the editor again with the old content. All my previous work is lost.     Greetings, A site I developed was recently compromised, most likely by a brute force or Rainbow Table attack. The original log-in script did not have a SALT, passwords were stored in MD5.   • Samba between Ubuntu server 10.10 and Windows Vista, Windows 7

    I have a linux box running Linux server ubuntu 10.10. I have installed Samba on this linux box and want to share files with my laptops which run Windows Vista home and Windows 7 home. I have been struggling with the setup for almost a month but couldn't get it right. If I try to access share folder from Windows Vista, I get message "Windows cannot access \\server_ip_address". Error code: 0x80070035. The network path was not found. If I access from Windows 7, then after entering password to login I can see the list of share folders on Linux box. But if I click on a share folder, I get the same error message as above.
