  Recently I stumbled once again on the issues of Haskells records, in particular the uniqueness of field names (it's a pain ...) I already read A proposal for records in Haskell from SPJ and Greg Morrisett but it's last update was 2003. Another paper Lightweight Extensible Records for Haskell from SPJ and Mark Jones is even older: It's from a Haskell workshop in 1999. Now I wonder if the process of giving Haskell new records made any progress. Does anybody know something about it or can point me to some further reading ?

  I have the following configuration: P == U ---------------- W P is a HP Laserjet, connected to U, which is an Ubuntu 10.04 desktop machine with a standard gnome setup from the live cd. I just selected the HP Laserjet in the gnome printer admin and it works, I can print locally. W is a remote windows machine, server 2003, and --- is an untrusted connection. I wonder if I can create an ssh tunnel between U and W, so W can print using U's printer service. Which ports will I need to forward and what kind of printer must I add then on the windows machine?

• Concurrency Utilities for Java EE 6: JSR 236 Rebooting

  JSR 166 added support for concurrency utilities in the Java platform. The JSR 236's, a.k.a Concurrency Utilities for Java EE, goal was to extend that support to the Java EE platform by adding asynchronous abilities to different application components. The EG was however stagnant since Dec 2003. Its coming back to life with the co-spec lead Anthony Lai's message to the JSR 236 EG (archived here). The JSR will be operating under JCP 2.8's transparency rules and can be tracked at concurrency-spec.java.net. All the mailing lists are archived here. The final release is expected in Q1 2013 and the APIs will live in the javax.enterprise.concurrent package. Please submit your nomination if you would like to join this EG.

• Issues With IIS Hosting Two Domains From Same Folder [closed]

  I have two different domain names that resolve to the same ASP.Net site. Both domains are hosted on the same server, which runs Windows Server 2003 and IIS6. The sites are differentiated in IIS Manager using host headers. However, both of the sites point to the same folder on the local drive for the site's page files. I am occasionally experiencing an ASP.Net error that says "The state information is invalid for this page and might be corrupted." I'm the site developer so I've addressed all the relevant code-related causes for this issue. However, I was wondering whether having two domains/sites sharing the same folder for an ASP.Net application might be causing this intermittent error. Also, is this generally a bad practice? Should I make separate, duplicate folders for each of the domains? Seems like that can become a maintenance headache.

  I was trying to install a new WSS v3 Sharepoint on a 64 bit Windows 2003 server today but the installation was giving some error saying i would need to allow ASP.NET 2.0 in the web server extension in IIS.  Looking at the IIS there was a ASP.NET 2.0 32 bit allowed but not for a 64 bit. I tried registering the aspnet_regiis but no luck by doing so: For the 32 bit verison %SYSTEMROOT%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i For the 64bit version %SYSTEMROOT%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i I get the error "The error indicates that IIS is in 32 bit mode, while this application is a 64 b it application and thus not compatible." The difference is the \Framework64 folders So my next guess was to find a way to disable the 32 bit and then allow the 64 bit version. And luckily enough i found this link    MS to the rescue So just ran : cscript %SYSTEMDRIVE%\inetpub\adminscripts\adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 0 and the registered the %SYSTEMROOT%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i and that was it

  We're just about to start a new greenfield project - it's a highly functional web application using ASP.NET MVC3, SQL Server etc. We're also going to be using Windows Workflow Foundation for the first time. Our client only wants to use his existing Windows Server 2003 web servers. My main issue (other than it is 8 years old) is that we don't much experierence of WWF development, but understand that using AppFabric (Server 2008 only) will improve WWF development. It's a significant cost to the client, as we need fail-over servers and a UAT environment as well. Am I correct in my understanding, and what methodologies can I use to justify the cost of upgrading?

  Possible Duplicate: How to find web hosting that meets my requirements? We currently have a rather poorly set up Windows 2003 box with little to no support based in Shanghai; with no control panel/mail server. I am told for legal/business reasons the host must be based in the same location as the company for the website; but this could well be misinformation. Are there any well-known, quality hosts in China that offer reliable English-speaking support? We did consider GoDaddy on the west coast of America, but were informed of the risk of the site being shut down without any notice. We don't have any technically-minded contacts out there to advise, and hoping that someone will have some more experience in this department. Thank you.

  I am facing a performance issue while exporting data from DB2 to Excel 2003. Well the very first reason is file is about 10+ MB where it goes outofMemory Exception. I am using XLSTransformer and HSSFWorkbook classes to transform my xls file. I also have joins in my query( optional). But user most likely is going to choose these options. When they do so, of course, the data becomes huge and take lot of time and some times goes outOfMemory too. So Please advice me on this.

  In my production environment, I have close to 10 Ubuntu 12.04 Servers and I want to get the list of users from them. I am looking for some kind of script or tool (non-gui) to get the same. Yes, I can get the list from /etc/passwd and /etc/groups files but it would be good to have a tool or script to do this due to the following reasons. I have right now 10 systems in Ubuntu and 30 systems in Windows 2003. I am recommending my organization and IT to move all the systems to Ubuntu except the one running MS SQL server We do not have good Ubuntu admins with us and they should not mess up with the system if I give some manual commands I also need to find out date of creation of user, group, password standards like strength, expiry etc Please help me as I want to automate the process and get the list on weekly basis from IT team.   I'm the only developer of a complex critical software system, written in Visual C++ 2005. It's deployed on a classical Microsoft cluster scenario (active/passive), that has Windows Server 2003 R2. If a server A goes down, the other one (B) starts and take the ownership of its duties. You have to know that: both servers have the same Microsoft patches/fixes, same hardware, same everything. both servers use the same memory storage (a RAID-6 through fiber channel). this software has a main module who launch the peripheral modules. if a peripheral module crashes, the main module restarts it. When I switch the application in one of the two servers (let's say the B server) two of the peripheral modules of the main applications just started to crash apparently without reason about 2 seconds after the start of the peripheral module. What could I do to analyze/inspect/resolve this weird situation?
