    I have a rails app (let's call it myapp) running at www.myapp.com. I want to add a wordpress blog at www.myapp.com/blog. The webserver for the rails app is thin (see the upstream block). The wordpress runs with php-fastcgi. The rails app works fine.     I did the following: created an empty .img file with dd associated it to /dev/loop0 with losetup created a partition in it with fdisk formatted such partition with mke2fs copied a custom GNU/Linux system into that partition Now I'd like to make the .img file bootable by installing grub into its MBR and /boot directory. My goal is to load the .img file with qemu. It would be better if grub2 is used instead of grub legacy. Thanks.

    Hello, I have written a script which fetches a distribution, given the URL. After downloading the distribution, it compares the md5 hashes to verify that the file has been downloaded properly. I`d love to have some constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement. Also, I have only implemented the install_package method for .tar files; would there be a better manner by which I could install .tar.gz and .zip files too without having to write seperate methods for each of these?

    Hello, Is there any software out there that can simulate Disk Utility (Mac app) for Windows? I need to reinstall leopard on my Mac because I screwed something up on the current OS. The thing is, the DVD drive is broken on there, so I need to prepare a bootable USB drive from my Leopard DMG file. This is easily done with the Disk Utility app on the Mac. But seeing how my cannot even log on to my Mac right now, I don't know how to prepare that USB stick. The only other machine I have is a PC with Windows 7. If anyone has any suggestion, please help me out! Thanks so much!

    I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.2 on my Macbook Pro. I can get the apache server to start, but not the mysql server, on both the default apache and default MAMP ports.     I use EncFS to encrypt my files. So far, I've been using the installer provided by BoxCryptor. It packs EncFS 1.7.4, MacFuse and MacFusion in one installer and works nicely on Mountain Lion. But MacFuse is not actively developed and most people might replace it with Fuse for OS X or something similar. Are there other packaged installers for EncFS? Or do you always compile EncFS from source? If so, is there a tutorial on how to compile?

    I am developing an application on a Linux embedded board (runs Debian) e.g. Raspberry Pi, Beagle Board/Bone, or olimex. The boards works on an environment that the electricity is cut unexpectedly (it is far complicated to place PSU, etc.) and it would happen every day couple times. I wonder if the unexpected power cuts would cause crash/problem on the Linux Operation System? If it is something that I should worry, what would you suggest to prevent the damages on OS against the unexpected power cuts? PS. The application needs to writes some data to the storage medium (SD card), I think it would not be suitable to mount it as read-only.

    I just got the new Safari 5.0 I downloaded because my Mac told me there was a new version that I should be getting. But when I try to run this new version of the application -- nothing happens! I mean the program seems to be working but nothing appears on the screen and so when I try to see my top sites a little window shows up but it just doesn't show anything.     I have an ATI mobility Radeon HD 3200 graphics card with a driver that I downloaded from my computer manufacturer's site. I wanted to upgrade the driver so I downloaded the respective driver from ATI and ran the installation. However, the installation only installs the download manager, the App SDK, C++ distributables and CCC, no display driver. When I try opening the CCC, I get an error that quits the CCC, something about the display driver not being recognized. What is wrong here? How do I go about fixing this? thanks
