  I need to create a Windows installation USB drive from an ISO file. I used UNetbootin which seems to be the only tool that can write non-Linux images. The USB disk boots (sort of), but it gets stuck at the very first stage. A UNetbootin splash screen appears that keeps counting down from 10 to 0, and then restarts. The screen looks like this: Is there a way to make Windows boot from a USB image created on Linux?

  Currently I am working on a customize device which has Ubuntu 12.10. Now I have to restructure the screen of that device. I have added sample design of the screen. We are getting this screen when we start the device. How can I achive this. I know for this I have make changes in many configuration files of ubuntu.   I need a scenario for a small dialog-based game / interactive story. The game would be used as an example for a middleware tool we're developing. I would like to buy an existing story (it should be dynamic of course — with branching dialogs etc.), or hire someone to write a new one. Please advise, where to go to find such person / service? We're based in Russia, so getting a talented enough native English writer locally is a bit of a problem. Update: To be extra clear: We must get all necessary rights to reuse the story and make a derived work (i.e. the game we're talking about) from it. This is a commercial product. Borrowing someone else's work at random and using it just not going to work.

  Provide my spec and sorry for my poor English first. MB: Gigabyte G31M-S2L (bios ver. F9) CPU: intel E5200 2G RAM HD1: WD 160G with 2 partitions (partition 1:60G, NTFS, win xp; partition 2:100G, NTFS) HD2: WD 320G with 2 partitions (partition 3:220G, NTFS; partition 4:100G, ext4, Ubuntu) Recently, I tried to install Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 2 on my desktop PC (on partition 4). At the beginning, everything looked great including the auto-mounting of partitions 1~3 and the unity (3D). However, after I deleted and re-allocated the partitions on HD2 and re-installed Ubuntu on partition 4, the partitions 1~3 are no longer auto-mounted when I logged in the desktop (and even the inserted cdrom would not be mounted either), and the launch bar and menu bar in unity (3D) are missing. The configurations during these two installations are all the same as default. Are there any possible reasons or solutions for this issue? Thank you in advance!

I use jQuery, also I use date and time picker jQuery plugin in my cms, I can say this is just a 1% of my big script, I don't want sell my whole program as GPL because of these two small integrations (jQuery and DateTime picker). Please ask on these questions: I'm worry about license issue. What is the best way to sell my product(licensing type)? Is there any way to provide some partial licenses? I mean just add small notification in my license that the jQuery and The DateTime picker is still in GPL, but other part of this CMS has commercial license? If there isn't any way to sell commercial product as close source with GPL small parts, what is the most strong license for selling my product to keep it safe? Please sorry for my English

  in advance: my English is not perfect ;) processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz × 2 memory: 3,9 GiB graphics: GeForce GTX 460 Ubuntu 12.04 32-Bit fresh installed (previously 11.10 32-Bit) driver: NVIDIAs accelerated Driver (Version current-updates) probelm: In Ubuntu 12.04 I have problems with the performance of the graphics (games for example: Volley Brwawl, Neverball, Beep and Minecraft), and effects of windows (always at minimize, maximize...) There are laggs at animations, and the laggs in games are extremely annoying. Problems occur only in Ubuntu 12.04, everything was good in 11.10. No Problems with YouTube videos, HD videos. Is there a solution? BBecause I have found nothing here in the Forum and on Google. Or is an update coming soonfor driver or whatever? (This Bug is already registered in Launchpad.) Thank you!

• Building package from binary files - what's wrong with my control file

  I'm busy trying to build a .deb package from the binaries of my application (non open source) and I'm having trouble getting the correct info to display in the Ubuntu Software Centre (when you click on the .deb file). Please see screenshot below of control file and Software Centre View. It seems like the package name and the package description is swapped. I'm expecting the part in bold to read "attix5pro" and not "Cloud backup agent". Can someone show my my mistake or guide me?

  QUESTION: How should you handle compound words when programming? Are there any good lists available online for developers of generally accepted technology-related compound words? I can see how this is highly ambiguous, so should I just use common-sense? EXAMPLE: I would be inclined to do this: filename NOT FileName or login NOT LogIn However, the microsoft documentation indicates that filename is not compound.   I have a background as UI designer. And I realized that it is a bit hard for me to write a pieces of logic. Sometimes I get it right, but most of the time, I end up with something hacky (and it usually takes a lot of time). And is not that I don't like programming, in fact, I'm starting to like it as much as design. It's just that sometimes I think that I'm better at dealing with colors an shapes, rather than numbers and logic (but I want to change that). What I usually do is to search the solution on the Internet, copy the example, and insert it into my app (I know this is not a very good practice). I've heard that one tip was to write the logic in common English as comment before writing the actual code. What other tips and techniques I can use?

  Sorry my English... hope you understand me... I had a document. Edited it yesterday. But today, when i open it, it was desync. It show an one month earlier version!! I LOST A LOT OF WORK!! And i can't recover my right version of the document! I have a paid plan for Ubuntu One, but this made me very angry. And i don't see a way to recover and don't see a way to talk to somebody! There's no recovery mode like Dropbox... Man, i'm really ANGRY!! REALLY! I'll not recomend Ubuntu One services anymore! I don't know what to do... I lost my work and now i'm one month late!   If you create an application of a website in Chromium and choose "desktop", a .desktop file is created. In 12.04, you were able to move it to ~/,local/share/applications/ and then start it from the Dash or the launcher. In my fresh 12.10 installation, this doesn't work anymore. I think the line that is misinterpreted is Exec=/usr/bin/chromium-browser --app=http://buymeapie.com/. If you try to run it from a terminal, you get the following result: 20:32 ~ speter Exec=/usr/bin/chromium-browser --app=http://buymeapie.com/ bash: --app=http://buymeapie.com/: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden (English: "File or directory not found"). Can anyone explain or knows a workaround?

  I'm currently at a contract position and am looking to add to the documentation of the projects I worked on, to assist the next hiree taking over my projects. The documentation I received was overly technical (i.e. references code right away, references replacing certain values on certain lines, no high level description at all) How do I write documentation in simple plain English that is of actual benefit without looking sloppy? I find it difficult in areas such as outlining a system's flaws without coming off as judgmental, but still emphasize the severity of how detrimental some of the flaws are.

  It's obvious that to gain more customers on any given platform, one of the most important steps to take would be to localize your software into many languages: as many as possible, ideally. However, with independently developed apps, it tends to be difficult to localize into many different languages, due to not having the budget and / or time to do so. My question is if I were to localize my apps into languages other than English on the iOS App Store, which languages should I prioritize? (Maybe the top three or four most important.) • Xubuntu all Icons disappeared

  I'm running Xubuntu 12.04.1 with kernel Xen4.1-amd64 and the following problem is mine: Nearly all icons have been replaced by the default "no icon available"-icon, even on the login screen and the all icons in software like e.g. Firefox and the icons I manually assigned to launchers, too. Changing the icon theme does not seem to affect this. The only icons that did not disappear are: LibreOffice, gThumb, Simplescan, Ristretto and in the XFCE menu office, tools and graphics. How could I bring the icons back? EDIT: When I tried to use Ristretto the following error showed up: Could not load image-loader module /usr/lib/x68_64-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.12.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-png.so Unable to open shared-object-file I/O error (Had to translate this to English.)
