• I can't install Truecrypt on Ubuntu 12.04

  I have a Windows 7 machine with Truecrypt. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 with the intention of converting to an Ubuntu only machine but I can't install Truecrypt on Ubuntu. I have been looking through the forums and have followed all advice to the letter and still Truecrypt doesn't work; I have only a non-functional icon in "dash". Should I uninstall Ubuntu and start over (ie reinstall)? I love Ubuntu and greatly appreciate your efforts on this forum.

Now I've realized that internet is full of backlinks that point to non-existing parts (pages) under my website-domain (for example to mypage.com/whatever, where whatever is not present on my website, so 404 error shows). I want to ask, are these links counted by google (for pagerank) and other search engines, or not. So do I have to redirect these links to existing pages in order to be counted?

  I want to write a game as my final year diploma project.(I'm a 4th-year-student now so I've got a year and several months). But I don't know what to choose: either write my own game engine using DirectX9(10)(I don't like OpenGL) or use OGRE + PhysX(Don't like Unity) I'm more interested in writing my own game engine(but I wonder if I'll create engine on the same level as even Unreal 1.0 hah) but on the other side with PhysX I'll have advanced physics in my game and with OGRE I'll have good grahics. For 3d models I want to use Maya. What do you advise me to choose? As for me I've got a little DirectX experience,not bad C++ programming skills(but not expert's) and a little knowledge of Maya.   Hi I've just started using Ubuntu 12.10 (today!) my first time with any non-windows OS. I wanted to retrieve some files after windows stopped working. I boot Ubuntu from a USB and it seems to work fine - I can access the internet etc. But I can't access any of my drives or even a USB drive. I always thought that SRD is just overall decsription of the system, with all functional and non functional requirements. Yet I thought that Functional spec is more detailed and it is a separate document, while SRD is high level customer-created description (how is this one called then?) Could anyone help to make this clear for me?

  Hopefully my last thread about V&V as I found the B.Boehm is text which I just do not understand well (likely my technical English is not that good). http://csse.usc.edu/csse/TECHRPTS/1979/usccse79-501/usccse79-501.pdf Basically he says that verification is about checking that products derived from requirments baseline must correspond to it and that deviation leads only to changes in these derived products (design, code). But he says it begins with design and ends with acceptance tests (you can check the V model inside). The thing is, I have accepted ISO12207 in terms of all testing is validation, yet it does not make any sense here. In order to be sure the product complies with requirements (acceptance test) I need to test it. Also it says that validation problems means that requirements are bad and needs to be changed - which does not happen with testing that testers do, who just checks correspondence with requirements.

  I'm fairly new to android development and I'm not sure if the functionality I have in mind for my next project is actually feasible. I wanted to make a simple study guide app...when a user is browsing the web on their phone and they come across information they want to save to their study guide they would be able to highlight the sentence,long-click the highlighted text, and see an option to add it to their study guide(a pop-up list would appear). there would be more functionality than just this, for instance with-in the app you could create different study guide topics (biology,math, English..ect). But in general is it possible to have an app that is accessible by long-clicking when your browsing the web (as opposed to opening the App manually in order to use it.) -- If not, could I make it so you can open a browser within the app to do what I've described? This is going to be a school project so I don't care if it's totally original, I just want to make something simple and practical for practice. -- Thanks in advanced to anyone who helps!! :D

  Until now I have been using C# with XNA for 2d and a little bit of 3d games, althought I dont remember that I finished any of them I want to start working with C++. I have a very very little exprience with C++ and my question is where to start? I plated a little bit with SFML and I encountered some problems with performance when I started to build a tile based game. I'm pretty sure that the problem is my code and not the library itself. Is there anything similiar to XNA for C++? I should keep try and work with SFML? Sorry for my bad english! Thanks in advance!
