    I have problem with I18N in JSP, specifically, with forms. When I enter some Czech characters (e.g., "ešcržýá...") into my page one form, into the field "fieldOne", and then show text from that field on page two, instead of Czech characters I see this as "čč".     I am trying to write a simple Http client application in Java and am a bit confused by the seemingly different ways to establish Http client connections, and efficiently re-use the objects. Current I am using the following steps (I have left out exception handling for simplicity) Iterator<URI> uriIterator = someURIs(); HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); while (uriIterator.hasNext()) { URI uri = uriIterator.next(); HttpGet request = new HttpGet(uri); HttpResponse response = client.execute(request); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); InputStream s = entity.getContent(); processStream (); s.close(); } In regard to the code above, my questions is: Assuming all URI's are pointing to the same host (but different resources on that host). What is the recommended way to use a single http connection for all requests? And how do you close the connection after the last request? --edit: Also what is the difference between using uri.openConnection(), versus HttpClient? Which is preferable, and what other methods exist?

  • why can't I open a port on Win 7? is it the app's fault?

    I am having problems opening a port from one Windows PC on my local network. On Windows 7 computer ("Computer A") I running Calibre, an ebook management program that has something called an "ebook content server" . In essence, it serves via the web a content catalog. From Computer A, I can access the content server on localhost. ie. http://127.0.0.1:8787 calls up the content server successfully. With ipconfig I have confirmed that its local IP address is 192.168.1.106 From Computer B (a Vista Machine) I can ping 192.168.1.106 I have tried opening/editing a port in the Windows Firewall several times. In Windows firewall -- Allowed Programs in Control Panel, I see a listing for Calibre (with both Home/Work and PUblic checked) In details, I see Name: Calibre, Port Number 8787, Protocol TCP If I use the Advanced Security configuration screen for the firewall, I created an Inbound Rule on Computer A for Calibre (with the settings I indicated). From Windows Computer B, I can, ping 192.168.1.106 and even view http://drupal.local (on Computer A) and http://192.168.1.106/ (which goes to the Xampp config screen on Computer A). But I cannot access via Computer B htttp://192.168.1.106:8787 or htttp://computerhosta:8787 So what is going wrong? Is this a problem with the Calibre application or have I incorrectly opened the port? What things could possibly interfere with the opening of this port? On a sidenote, I have tried using telnet from Computer B to see if port 80 or 8787 is open for 192.168.1.106. I get no reply for either one. Thanks.

  • Can I open a Disk2vhd created VHD file with 7-zip?

    I've created a VHD file of my C: drive, for backup purposes, using Disk2vhd 1.0. When I try opening the file using 7-Zip 4.65 (to view the contents) I get the error: "Can not open the file XXX as an archive". Does anyone know why this is? I have to assume that either the VHD creation failed and it's a corrupted file, or Disk2vhd creates a variation of the VHD format that 7-Zip doesn't support.

    I just tried to clone a failing existing boot drive for a dual boot system with Ubuntu karmic and Windows XP installed using Clonezilla. The cloning worked fine right up until the end when I got the following error: Running: grub-install --no floppy --root-directory=/tmp/hd_img.twABYW /dev/sdb grub-probe: error: Cannot open '/boot/grub/device.map' /usr/sbin/grub-install:line 374: [: =: unary operator expected What's my next step? I imagine I need to somehow rebuild my boot record for Windows and Ubuntu and edit grub.

  • Windows explorer doesn't open My Documents, Music or anything when clicking the library?

    I recently installed Windows 7, and for some reason my Libraries don't open to My Documents, Music and so on.. I can access my files by typing into the explorers address bar, but clicking anything doesn't do anything, it just stays on the same screen. What's wrong? Since this is occurring on a relatively new install, I currently have 259GB free out of 297GB on my HD. The My Documents folder only has about 500 mb of Data.
