    I just ran the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware quick scan for the first time and it found: Registry Data Items Infected: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Start_ShowSearch (Hijack.StartMenu) - Bad: (0) Good: (1) - No action taken. I just wanted to double check (and provide a top Google result for people in the future that might have the same issue) that this was a false positive and can be safely right-click ignored.

  • Postfix/ClamAV not stopping viruses under Virtualmin

    I am using Virtualmin and have it set up to have Postfix scan incoming emails with ClamAV (using clamdscan) and delete any emails which contain a virus. However when I email myself the EICAR test string, it comes through just fine. I know ClamAV will report this file as a virus. How can I troubleshoot this / what could be wrong?

    I was not able to start the SQL Server 2008 R2 production DB instance. After reading the log file error message is " The log scan number passed to log scan in database ‘master’ is not valid. This error may indicate data corruption or that the log file (.ldf) does not match the data file (.mdf). If this error occurred during replication, re-create the publication." After reading several post i realize that my MASTER DB file is corrupted. I have followed the below setup Copy the Master.mdf and Masterlog.ldf file from Template location to My Database Data folder. C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Binn\Templates to D:\MSSQL\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA Note: Same error occur when i copy the all DB file like Master, MasterLog, MSDBData, MSDBlog, Model and ModelLog When i run my MSSQLSEVER instance different problem occur. In My server i had only C, D- Drive i dont have the E drive. How can i override these below error path.   • iPhone UIWebView: loadData does not work with certain types (Excel, MSWord, PPT, RTF)

    My task is to display the supported document types on an iPhone with OS 3.x, such as .pdf, .rtf, .doc, .ppt, .png, .tiff etc. Now, I have stored these files only encrypted on disk. For security reasons, I want to avoid storing them unencrypted on disk. Hence, I prefer to use loadData:MIMEType:textEncodingName:baseURL: instead of loadRequest: to display the document because loadData allows me to pass the content in a NSData object, i.e. I can decrypt the file in memory and have no need to store it on disk, as it would be required when using loadRequest. The problem is that loadData does not appear to work with all file types: Testing shows that all picture types seem to work fine, as well as PDFs, while the more complex types don't. I get a errors such as: NSURLErrorDomain Code=100 NSURLErrorDomain Code=102 WebView appears to need a truly working URL for accessing the documents as a file, despite me offering all content via the NSData object already. Here's the code I use to display the content: [webView loadData:data MIMEType:type textEncodingName:@"utf-8" baseURL:nil]; The mime-type is properly set, e.g. to "application/msword" for .doc files. Does anyone know how I could get loadData to work with all types that loadRequest supports? Or, alternatively, is there some way I can tell which types do work for sure (i.e. officially sanctioned by Apple) with loadData? Then I can work twofold, creating a temp unencrypted file only for those cases that loadData won't like. Update Looks like I'm not the first one running into this. This is probably a bit more memory-intensive, though, as both the server and the webview will probably both hold the entire contents in memory as two copies then, as opposed to using loadData, where both would rather share the same data object. (Mind you, I'll have to hold the decrypted data in memory, that's the whole point here).

Usually, the numbers usually average around .40 or lower and my server stuff (mysql, php and apache) are optimized.   • Need advice on speeding up tableViewCell photo loading performance

    I have around 20 tableview cells that each contain a number (2-5) thumbnail sized pictures (they are VERY small Facebook profile pictures, ex. http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-sf2p/hs254.snc3/23133_201668_2989_q.jpg). Each picture is an UIImageView added to the cell's contentview. Scrolling performance is poor, and measuring the draw time I've found the UIImage rendering is the bottleneck. I've researched/thought of some solutions but as I am new to iphone development I am not sure which strategy to pursue: preload all the images and retrieve them from disk instead of URL when drawing cells (I'm not sure if cell drawing will still be slow, so I want to hold off on the time investment here) Have the cells display a placeholder image from disk, while the picture is asynchronously loaded (this seems to be the best solution, but I'm currently not sure exactly how to do best do this) There's the fast drawing recommendation from Tweetie, but I don't know that will have much affect if it turns out my overhead is in network loading (http://blog.atebits.com/2008/12/fast-scrolling-in-tweetie-with-uitableview/) Thoughts/implementation advice? I am an excel user and am wanting to set it up so that I can assign a barcode on a card to a specific person. My hope is to be able to scan the barcode have it take me to a specific cell in the spread sheet so I can update the Commitment amount. and provide as much anonymity for our donors as possible.     Running FSUtil 8Dot3Name Scan /v /s C: gives you a list of potential 8.3 paths in the registry that are referring to your file system, but is there any tool that can actually convert those paths to long paths in the registry? I do understand this could break some programs, but I have backups so I'd be willing to give it a try. (I tried to make a tool like this myself, but it's harder than it looks, because of false positives and all the varieties of ways the path could be embedded.)

    Hello I'm using a RichFaces <rich:insert like this: <rich:panel header="my head"> <a4j:outputPanel ajaxRendered="true"> <rich:insert src="#{MyBacking.myPath}" highlight="groovy" /> </a4j:outputPanel> </rich:panel> If I have a 60k file to output, it takes 23 seconds. I've got a requirement to output the contents of some larger files than that and obviously the larger the file, the larger the wait for content. The recommendation in the answer to another related question is to introduce paging. I will, but the question is, why does it take so long to output 60k of text using JSF/RichFaces? That is, reading off a local disk with Windows XP SP2 PC - I can see from the log the data has already been written to disk from the network. Other scripting languages appear to be faster than this - is it something to do with the JSF lifecycle having to handle the text maybe? Thanks

If I have company word documents, excel spreadsheets, etc on my computer, do these scanners just take a copy of everything on my hard drive, put it on their server, and search through them? Or do they just use virus definitions and scan through my computer without taking a copy of all my data?

  • Software to aid using camera as a scanner

    I want to digitize some index cards with my camera. I'm looking for a program that would automatically fix geometry on the shots (as you would expect the cards come tilted on the picture). I have an app (droid scan lite) on my android phone that does exactly that, but I would prefer to do it on my pc (the phone camera has poor quality and it's slow and focuses badly while I have a decent slr). If the program is open source it's an advantage, cross platform -- even more so.

    My scanner came with the following software: ScanSoft PageViewer ScanSoft PaperPort ScanDirect I believe it also comes with a basic version of OmniPage I'm not sure which of these programs is the one that actually performs the OCR. When I scan a document, it can perform OCR on it and convert it to a searchable PDF. Is there any way I can take an existing image or PDF file and run the same OCR engine on it in order to create a searchable PDF?
