• Truncate text if it atempts to run into three lines

  I have a small about 140px wide aligned next to a picture. In total there is space for four lines of text. The first two lines are reserved for the title and there are two lines of other info. I want the title to be cut if it spans more than two lines else it will push the other info out of line with the bottom of the image. The only solution I could think of was to create a div the height of two lines with an overflow to hidden. However, if the title is only one line it leaves a big gap. The solution can be Jquery, plain javascript, CSS or even PHP (if its possible). TIA

• horizontal align in a div

  I have a box like this: <div id="selectBox"> Select: <select> <option>1</option> <option>2</option> </select> </div> How do i get them aligned so that they are horizontal in the middle of each other, the baseline of the "Select" text and the content of the select box ("1").(and not the box itself). I can solv this by wrapping a table around them and make two cells but i feel that method is very crude.

• Android - Issue with View when set above another View while scrolling

  I've created a ScrollView with a RelativeLayout inside of it. I have a TextView aligned at the bottom of the RelativeLayout using layout_alignParentBottom="true" and a ImageView above the TextView using "layout_above". The layout works perfect when I am on a device where the display is large enough to not have to scroll up and down. When I test it on devices where you need to scroll to see the ImageView and TextView the ImageView doesn't line up above the TextView. Actually I haven't a clue where it goes because I can't see it anywhere. It might be behind the TextView. This also happens when I'm editing an EditText with the Soft Keyboard up, which causes the RelativeLayout to scroll. Anyone knows what's going on here?

• Buttons with equal heights.

  Linear layout below. This layout is aligned parent bottom in a Relative Layout. Problem is I want all buttons to have the same height. • Parsing HTML "Visually"

  OKay I am at loss how to name this question. I have some HTML files, probably written by lord Lucifier himself, that I need to parse. It consists of many segments like this, among other html tags <p>HeadingNumber</p> <p style="text-indent:number;margin-top:neg_num ">Heading Text</p> <p>Body</p> Notice that the heading number and text are in seperate p tags, aligned in a horizontal line by css. the css may be whatever Lucifier fancies, a mixture of indents, paddings, margins and positions. However that line is a single object in my business model and should be kept as such. So How do I detect whether two p elements are visually in a single line and process them accordingly. I believe the HTML files are well formed if it helps.

  Hi all, I have a question. In an html page, I have javascript code that allows me to open and close a popup window by clicking on a link displayed in the link, so the text displayed in the link changes to the state of the popup window (open-closed). With a variable true / false I manage the opening and closing of the popup window to click on a link whose text is aligned "opened popup" / "closed popup". The next step is to make this same change in state (true / false, "opened popup" / "close popup") directly by closing the popup window. The idea is to not have to refresh the page. Is this possible? • How to color a mesh with values at the vertices in WPF 3D?

  We've got a sphere which we want to display in 3D and color given a fuction that depends on spherical coordinates. The sphere was triangulated using a regular grid in (theta, phi), but this produced a lot of small triangles near the poles. In an attempt to reduce the number triangles at the poles, we've changed out mesh generation to produce more evenly sized triangles over the surface. The first triangulation method had the advantage that we could easily create a texture and drape it over the surface. It seems that in WPF it isn't possible to assign colors to vertices the way one would go about in OpenGL or Direct3D. With the second triangulation method it isn't apparent how to go about generating the texture and setting the texture coordinates, since the vertices aren't aligned to a grid anymore. Maybe it would be possible to create a linear texture containing a color for each vertex, but then how will that effect the coloring? Will it still render smoothly over the triangle surfaces as one would expect by applying per vertex coloring?

I have an online web app where I can drag and drop annotations (arrows, stars) on top of an image that sits on a DIV. Here's some things to know. 1) The image can be any size (sometimes big sometimes small) 2) The DIV of wrapper can be left aligned or centered 3) The DIV of wrapper can be fixed or auto So is there any possible solution to make it so positions of annotations are always relative to the top left corner of the image? So I am using jQuery. How would I get an annotation's position always relative to the top left corner of an image once I drop object? Thanks!

• Fastest way to find the rotation of a vector

  I have two 2D vectors, say u and v, defined by cartesian coordinates. Imagine that vectors are needles of a clock. I'm looking for the fastest way to find out, using python, if v is after or before u (or in other words find out in wich half plane is v, regarding to position of u). For the purpose of the problem if vectors are aligned answer should be before. It seems easy using some trigonometry, but I believe there should be a faster way using coordinates only. • How do I get my text to be direction from right to left without using a p tag?

  I have a dynamically appearing div on a page. I would like to be able to hide the div with a button at the top right corner of the div. One way I have found to do this is to use a p tag, like so: <p dir="RTL">button</p> If this is the first line of HTML within the div, it will put the button in the upper right hand corner of the div. However, it gives me a new line above and a new line below, so, the button isn't really where I want it to be. The "dir" attribute doesn't seem to work with a span tag, and if I display the p tag inline using css p { display:inline; } the button is no longer right aligned. Instead it stays in the left hand corner. Is there a way to get this button in the upper right hand corner without two unnecessary new lines and without a bunch of  ?

  I have centered a div inside another div but want to left justify the contents of the centered inner div. How can I do this? • Vertically align UILabel

  I am trying to vertically align the text in the UILabel view of my app. The problem is that I want the text to be vertically aligned to the top and the size of the label to be 280 x 150. I am only able to achieve one of these 2 things. If I remove the line [myLabel sizeToFit]; then the alignment of the text is alright but the size is messed up. But if I add the above line, then the alignment is messed up but the size is alright. How do I fix this problem.   I'm looking for an algorithm to flip a 1 Bit Bitmap line horizontally. Remember these lines are DWORD aligned! I'm currently unencoding an RLE stream to an 8 bit-per-pixel buffer, then re-encoding to a 1 bit line, however, I would like to try and keep it all in the 1 bit space in an effort to increase its speed. • Should I send patch against 2-3-stable or master

  I am trying to find a way to contribute back to rails. I was thinking I should validate if this patch https://rails.lighthouseapp.com/projects/8994/tickets/4154-expires_now-broken works or not. I was able to validate the problem. The problem still exists in 2.3.5 and in 2-3-stable branch of rails. I was not able to apply his patch at 2-3-stable branch of rails . Also the patch failed for master branch. Looked at the diff and manually changed the code and the new code solves the bug. Now if I want to attach my patch to the ticket should I create my patch against 2-3-stable branch or master branch? I believe master is more closely aligned with rails3 changes.

• Controlling read and write access width to memory mapped registers in C

  I'm using and x86 based core to manipulate a 32-bit memory mapped register. My hardware behaves correctly only if the CPU generates 32-bit wide reads and writes to this register. The register is aligned on a 32-bit address and is not addressable at byte granularity. What can I do to guarantee that my C (or C99) compiler will only generate full 32-bit wide reads and writes in all cases? For example, if I do a read-modify-write operation like this: volatile uint32_t* p_reg = 0xCAFE0000; *p_reg |= 0x01; I don't want the compiler to get smart about the fact that only the bottom byte changes and generate 8-bit wide read/writes. Since the machine code is often more dense for 8-bit operations on x86, I'm afraid of unwanted optimizations. Disabling optimizations in general is not an option.

  I'm trying to get a custom dialog with a transparent background doing this way: this.getWindow().setBackgroundDrawableResource(R.drawable.transparent); (where "R.drawable.transparent" is a reference to the color "#00000000") The weird issue on this is that I can't align my dialog window. It's always aligned to the left, even if I implicit set the Gravity of the window using: this.getWindow().setGravity(Gravity.CENTER); And if I just comment the line which set the transparent background, the alignment works fine. The problem I'm having is i can count how many enrollments for each day but can't have it aligned with the correct day when i run the query e.g. I want The total to be on the same line as the day it was calculated from.   I'm all about performance these days cause I'm developing my first game engine. I'm no c++ expert but after some research I discovered the importance of the cache and the memory alignment. Basically what I found is that it is recommended to have memory well aligned specially if you need to access them together, for example in a loop. Now, In my project I'm doing my Game Object Manager, and I was thinking to have an array of GameObjects references. meaning I would have the actual memory of my objects one after the other. static const size_t MaxNumberGameObjects = 20; GameObject mGameObjects[MaxNumberGameObjects]; But, as I will be having a list of components per object -Component based design- (Mesh, RigidBody, Transformation, etc), will I be gaining something with the array at all? Anyway, I have seen some people just using a simple std::map for storing game objects. So what do you guys think? Am I better off using a pure component model?

• How can I (reasonably) precisely perform an action every N milliseconds?

  I have a machine which uses an NTP client to sync up to internet time so it's system clock should be fairly accurate. I've got an application which I'm developing which logs data in real time, processes it and then passes it on. What I'd like to do now is output that data every N milliseconds aligned with the system clock. So for example if I wanted to do 20ms intervals, my oututs ought to be something like this: 13:15:05:0000 13:15:05:0020 13:15:05:0040 13:15:05:0060 I've seen suggestions for using the stopwatch class, but that only measures time spans as opposed to looking for specific time stamps. The code to do this is running in it's own thread, so should be a problem if I need to do some relatively blocking calls. Any suggestions on how to achieve this to a reasonable (close to or better than 1ms precision would be nice) would be very gratefully received.
