• get data from gridview without querying database

  Hi there I am new at this so please bear with me... I have managed to get the following code to work...so when I click on the "select" link in each row of the gridview, the data is transfered to other label/textbox on the webpage. So far so good, the thing is that everytime I click on select...it goes and checks on the database for the data and there is a delay of a few seconds... I was hoping that the data, since it is already visible on the gridrows, is simply "picked up" and used on other labels/textboxes...without requerying the database. Is this possible ?   I am pretty sure this is a basic syntax error, I am new at this and basically figuring things out by trial and error... I am trying to insert data from textboxes into an Access database, where the primary key fields in tableCourse are prefix and course_number. It keeps giving me the "no value given for one or more required parameters" error. • Event is causing an error, but I can't catch the exception

  A developer has created a custom control in ASP.NET using VB.NET. The custom control uses a repeater. In certain scenarios, the rpt_ItemDataBound event is encountering a data error. My goal is rather than having the user see the yellow screen of death, give the user a friendlier error explaining exactly what the data error is. I figured I would be able to use a Try/Catch block as shown below throw the exception, however, it appears that the event has nowhere to be thrown to and stops executing at the "End Try" line.   I would like to have a function that can "wrap" any other function call. In this particular case, it would allow me to write some more generic transaction handling around some specific operations.   I have the mission to make a small game for a school project. Pictures boxes, moved by a timer for walking enemies.If there are around 5 or 6 moving picture boxes at the form, my application get troubles and lags. After I kill some enemies (remove them from the Controls Collection of the Form/Panel) It come back smooth. I think the loop of the enemy movement is too complicated but I don't know how to make that simpler. By taking control of the head tag and inserting your own HtmlMeta you can easily customise these tags.Might have noticed that when you create a new master page in visual studio your <head> tag gets decorated with a runat="server" attribute.Asp.net doesn't add this kind of decoration to any other html tags (although you are free to add it if you want).   Sometimes you need to access a control within a GridView, but it isn’t quite as straight forward as just using FindControl to grab the control like you can in a FormView. Since the GridView builds multiple rows the key is to specify the row. In this example there is a GridView with a control for a player’s errors. If the errors is greater than 9 the GridView should display the control (lblErrors) in red so it stands out.   If you have using Ajax control toolkits a lot (which I will skip the parts on where to download and how to configure it in Visual Studio 2010), you might have encountered some bugs or limitations of the controls, or rather, some weird behaviours. I would call them weird behaviours though. Recently, I've been working on a Ajax numeric updown control, which i remember clearly it was working fine without problems. In fact, I use 2 numeric updown control this time. So I went on to configure it to be as simple as possible and I will just use the default up and down buttons provided by it (so that I won't need to design my own). I have two textbox controls to display the value controlled by the updown control. One for month, and another for year. <asp:TextBox ID="txtMonth" runat="server" CssClass="txtNumeric" ReadOnly="True" Width="150px" /> <asp:TextBox ID="txtYear" runat="server" CssClass="txtNumeric" ReadOnly="True" Width="150px" /> So I will now drop 1 numeric updown control for each of the textboxes. <asp:NumericUpDownExtender ID="txtMonth_NumericUpDownExtender"     runat="server" TargetControlID="txtMonth" Maximum="12" Minimum="1" Width="152"> </asp:NumericUpDownExtender>                          <asp:NumericUpDownExtender ID="txtYear_NumericUpDownExtender"     runat="server" TargetControlID="txtYear" Width="152"> </asp:NumericUpDownExtender>                                                  You noticed that I configure the Maximum and Minimum value for the first numericupdown control, but I never did the same for the second one (for txtYear). That's because it won't work, well, at least for me. So I remove the Minimum="2000" and Maximum="2099" from there. Then I would configure the initial value to the the current year, and let the year to flow up and down freely. If you want, you want write the codes to restrict it.
