  • Removing duplicates (within a given tolerance) from a Numpy array of vectors

    - by Brendan
    I have an Nx5 array containing N vectors of form 'id', 'x', 'y', 'z' and 'energy'. I need to remove duplicate points (i.e. where x, y, z all match) within a tolerance of say 0.1. Ideally I could create a function where I pass in the array, columns that need to match and a tolerance on the match. Following this thread on Scipy-user, I can remove duplicates based on a full array using record arrays, but I need to just match part of an array. Moreover this will not match within a certain tolerance. I could laboriously iterate through with a for loop in Python but is there a better Numponic way?

  • Construct Numpy index given list of starting and ending positions

    - by Abiel
    I have two identically-sized numpy.array objects (both one-dimensional), one of which contains a list of starting index positions, and the other of which contains a list of ending index positions (alternatively you could say I have a list of starting positions and window lengths). In case it matters, the slices formed by the starting and ending positions are guaranteed to be non-overlapping. I am trying to figure out how to use these starting and ending positions to form an index for another array object, without having to use a loop. For example: import numpy as np start = np.array([1,7,20]) end = np.array([3,10,25]) Want to reference somearray[1,2,7,8,9,20,21,22,23,24])

  • Determining where to animate the map given a list of GeoPoints

    - by Itsik
    My android application loads some markers on an overlay onto a MapView. The markers are placed based on a dynamic list of GeoPoints. I want to move the map center and zoom into the area with most items. Naively, I can calculate the superposition of all the points, but I would like to remove the points that are very far from the mass of points from the calculation. Is there a known way to calculate this ? (e.g. probability, statistics .. ?)

  • Ruby Methods: return an usage string when insufficient arguments are given

    - by Shyam
    Hi, After creating a serious bunch of classes, with initialize methods, loading them in IRb requires to look back at the code. However, I think it should be easy enough to return a usage message, instead of: ArgumentError: wrong number of arguments (0 for 9) So I prefer to return a string with the human readable arguments, by example using "puts" or just a return of a string. Now I have seen the rescue keyword inside begin-end code, but I wonder how I could catch the ArgumentError when the initialize method is called. Thank you for your answers, feedback and comments!

  • get me the latest Change from Select Query in below given condition

    - by OM The Eternity
    I have a Table structure as id, trackid, table_name, operation, oldvalue, newvalue, field, changedonetime Now if I have 3 rows for the same "trackid" same "field", then how can i select the latest out of the three? i.e. for e.g.: id = 100 trackid = 152 table_name = jos_menu operation= UPDATE oldvalue = IPL newvalue = IPLcccc field = name live = 0 changedonetime = 2010-04-30 17:54:39 and id = 101 trackid = 152 table_name = jos_menu operation= UPDATE oldvalue = IPLcccc newvalue = IPL2222 field = name live = 0 changedonetime = 2010-04-30 18:54:39 As u can see above the secind entry is the latest change, Now what query I should use to get the only one and Latest row out of many such rows... $distupdqry = "select DISTINCT trackid,table_name from jos_audittrail where live = 0 AND operation = 'UPDATE'"; $disupdsel = mysql_query($distupdqry); $t_ids = array(); $t_table = array(); while($row3 = mysql_fetch_array($disupdsel)) { $t_ids[] = $row3['trackid']; $t_table[] = $row3['table_name']; //$t_table[] = $row3['table_name']; } //echo "<pre>";print_r($t_table);echo "<pre>"; //exit; for($n=0;$n<count($t_ids);$n++) { $qupd = "SELECT * FROM jos_audittrail WHERE operation = 'UPDATE' AND trackid=$t_ids[$n] order by changedone DESC "; $seletupdaudit = mysql_query($qupd); $row4 = array(); $audit3 = array(); while($row4 = mysql_fetch_array($seletupdaudit)) { $audit3[] = $row4; } $updatefield = ''; for($j=0;$j<count($audit3);$j++) { if($j == 0) { if($audit3[$j]['operation'] == "UPDATE") { //$insqry .= $audit2[$i]['operation']." "; //echo "<br>"; $updatefield .= "UPDATE `".$audit3[$j]['table_name']."` SET "; } } if($audit3[$j]['operation'] == "UPDATE") { $updatefield .= $audit3[$j]['field']." = '".$audit3[$j]['newvalue']."', "; } } /*echo "<pre>"; print_r($audit3); exit;*/ $primarykey = "SHOW INDEXES FROM `".$t_table[$n]."` WHERE Key_name = 'PRIMARY'"; $prime = mysql_query($primarykey); $pkey = mysql_fetch_array($prime); $updatefield .= "]"; echo $updatefield = str_replace(", ]"," WHERE ".$pkey['Column_name']." = '".$t_ids[$n]."'",$updatefield); } In the above code I am fetching ou the distinct IDs in which update operation has been done, and then accordingly query is fired to get all the changes done on different fields of the selected distinct ids... Here I am creating the Update query by fetching the records from the initially described table which is here mentioned as audittrail table... Therefore I need the last made change in the field so that only latest change can be selected in the select queries i have used... please go through the code.. and see how can i make the required change i need finally..

  • Easiest way to calculate amount of even numbers in given range

    - by Fdr
    What is the simplest way to calculate the amount of even numbers in a range of unsigned integers? An example: if range is [0...4] then the answer is 3 (0,2,4) I'm having hard time to think of any simple way. The only solution I came up involved couple of if-statements. Is there a simple line of code that can do this without if-statements or ternary operators?

  • How to find Junit tests that are using a given Java method directly or indirectly

    - by IT-Worx
    Assume there are Java project and Junit project in an Eclipse workspace. And All the unit tests are located in the Junit project and dependent on the application Java project. When making changes to a Java method, I need to find the unit tests that are using the method directly or indirectly, so that I can run the corresponding tests locally in my PC before checking into source control. I don't want to run the entire junit project since it takes time. I could use Eclipse call hierarchy to expand caller methods one by one until I find a test method. But for a project including more than 1 million lines of source code, digging down the call hierarchy takes time too. The search scope within call hierarchy view doesn't seem help much. Appreciate any help.

  • Draw text with in a rect with given width

    - by Forchita
    I'm trying to draw text on NSView subclass. I'm using an NSTextStorage, an NSLayoutManager, and an NSTextContainer. I followed Apple's doc and here's the method I use to calculate the necessary height for each text: NSSize newSize= NSMakeSize(width, 0.0); NSLayoutManager* layoutManager= [[textStorage layoutManagers] objectAtIndex:0]; NSTextContainer* textContainer= [[layoutManager textContainers] objectAtIndex:0]; [textContainer setContainerSize:newSize]; [textStorage addAttribute:NSFontAttributeName value:font range:NSMakeRange(0, [textStorage length])]; [textContainer setLineFragmentPadding:0.0]; [layoutManager glyphRangeForTextContainer:textContainer]; return [layoutManager usedRectForTextContainer:textContainer].size.height; The only problem is that I don't know how to draw in an NSRect with the layout manager. Can you help me please? Thanks in advance!

  • Find all A^x in a given range

    - by Austin Henley
    I need to find all monomials in the form AX that when evaluated falls within a range from m to n. It is safe to say that the base A is greater than 1, the power X is greater than 2, and only integers need to be used. For example, in the range 50 to 100, the solutions would be: 2^6 3^4 4^3 My first attempt to solve this was to brute force all combinations of A and X that make "sense." However this becomes too slow when used for very large numbers in a big range since these solutions are used in part of much more intensive processing. Here is the code: def monoSearch(min, max): base = 2 power = 3 while 1: while base**power < max: if base**power > min: print "Found " + repr(base) + "^" + repr(power) + " = " + repr(base**power) power = power + 1 base = base + 1 power = 3 if base**power > max: break I could remove one base**power by saving the value in a temporary variable but I don't think that would make a drastic effect. I also wondered if using logarithms would be better or if there was a closed form expression for this. I am open to any optimizations or alternatives to finding the solutions.

  • PHP: Parsing of a given form input variable

    - by Jaime Cross
    How would I go about parsing incoming form data where the name changes based on section of site like: <input type="radio" name="Motorola section" value="Ask a question"> where 'Motorola section may be that, or Verizon section, or Blackberry section, etc. I do not have any control over changing the existing forms unfortunately, so must find a way to work with what is there. Basically, I need to be able to grab both the name="" data as well as its coresponding value="" data to be able to populate the email that gets sent properly.

  • GeoCoordinateWatcher doesnt fire the event at given intervals

    - by krrishna
    I have the below code which fires the GeoCoordinateWatcher PositionChanged event for every 0.5 meteres .It might be less.But thats my requirement. The issue is when i am walking with phone doesnt fire the event at every 0.5 meters instead it fires the event after 0.5 meters randomly.And sometimes when i move fast it fires few events one after another immediately. Can anybody help me with how to ensure it fires the positionchanged event for every 0.5 meters accurately . watcher = new GeoCoordinateWatcher(GeoPositionAccuracy.Default); if (watcher.Permission == GeoPositionPermission.Granted) { watcher.MovementThreshold = 0.5;//in meters } watcher.PositionChanged += new EventHandler<GeoPositionChangedEventArgs<GeoCoordinate>>(watcher_PositionChanged); // PositionChanged events occur whenever your position changes watcher.StatusChanged += new EventHandler<GeoPositionStatusChangedEventArgs>(watcher_OnStatusChanged); watcher.Start();

  • Aggregation, Association and Composition (examples of code given)

    - by Bukocen
    I have such a simple example: public class Order { private ArrayList<Product> orders = new ArrayList<Product>(); public void add(Product p) { orders.add(p); } } Is it aggregation or composition? I guess it's composition, because orders will be delated after delete of Order, right? Unfortunately it was a task and answer was different;/ Do you know why? second problem: public class Client extends Person { String adress = ""; Orders orders = new Orders(); public Client(String n, String sn) { name = n; surName = sn; } public String getAddress() { return adress; } public Orders getOrders() { return this.orders; } } Is it Association between Client and Orders? My teacher told me that this is association, but I was wondering why it's not a aggregation/composition - he told me that aggregation or composition occur only when one class contains few instances of different class - is that right? I guess not, because e.g. car contains ONE wheel and it's aggregation I guess? What type of relation is that and why? Greetings

    I asked before for a simple solution to my problem (using sphinx search service) but I got nowhere... someone has kindly provided me with this code <?php /** * $Project: GeoGraph $ * $Id$ * * GeoGraph geographic photo archive project * This file copyright (C) 2005 Barry Hunter ([email protected]) * * This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or * modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License * as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 * of the License, or (at your option) any later version. * * This program is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, * but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of * MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. I mean... it splits whole words into parts (on special chars) where it shouldn't! so my guess is I should use multibyte functions instead of regular preg_replace... I tried to replace preg_replace with mb_ereg_replace but it is not working as it should... at least not for 2 and 3 words phrases any ideas?

  • Social statistics for a given page

    - by Trendee
    I have looked through the API's of facebook and twitter but i cannot seem to find the answer to my question. On websites like http://punchfork.com/recipe/Porkitos-Crispy-Prosciutto-Chips-Nom-Nom-Paleo On the right hand side they have the social stats page with information such as Tweets, Facebook Shares and Stumbleupons. My question is how do they record or gather these results? Is it a case of they have a button that records it in their database then sends you to the page to tweet/share/stumble? But surely that couldn't be accurate as people might not continue to fill out the action.
