  • Run script when a specific disk/memory card is mounted under OSX

    How do I run a script when a drive is mounted under OSX ? My usecase is that I would like to automatically copy images from my USB memory/harddrive when it is inserted in my USB card reader, and when a DVD or CD is inserted I would like to copy it for storage in my media center. I've tried using Marcopolo but from what I can see it can only detect the presence of a certain USB device, not the presence of specific harddrive.     Hi, We're running Server and Exchange 2003 here. There's a shared calendar which HR keep up-to-date detailing staff who are on leave. I'm looking for a VB Script (or alternate) which will extract the "appointment" titles of each item for the current day and then email the detail to a mail group, in doing so notifying the group with regard to which staff are on leave for the day.     Is there a script or batch file to automate the log-on process from the XP Welcome screen? As all details are the same Username, Password, and Domain in a room of 30 machines. The reason I don't use Windows AutoAdminLogon is I only want to logon temporary at different times as a user to run such things as online test for a class of high school students without the students logging on individually first, also it would be useful for admin tasks if I can change/specify the user details.

    I'm making html widget for websites. Let's say, it will display current stock indexes. In short, arbitrary website owner takes code snippet from me and includes it on his webpage http://website.com/index.html. When arbitrary user opens http://website.com/index.html, my code sends request to my server (provider.com), which performs necessary operations and returns information to user's browser. When response has arrived, user will see relevant stock value on http://website.com/index.html. In index.html service could be called like this <script type="text/javascript" src="provider.com/service.js"> </script> <div id="target_area"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> service.show("target_area", options); </script> Now, the problem is in the same origin policy: I can't just send ajax request from website.com to provided.com and return html to embed in client's webpage. I see several solutions, which I list below, but none quite satisfy me. I wonder, if you could suggest something, especially if you had some relevant experience. 1) iframe, plain and simple. Disadvantage: must have fixed dimensions + stupid scroll bars appearing in some browsers. Can be fixed with javascript, but all this browser-specific tinkering doesn't sound good to me. 2) JSONP. Problem: can't return whole chunk of html, must return only data. Then, on browser side, I'll have to use javascript to embed data into html snippet placed statically in index.html. Doesn't sound nice, because data format is not very simple and may even change later. 3) Use hidden iframe to do ajax requests. A bit tricky, but sounds like a way to go. Well, that's my thoughts on the subject. Are there any better ways? BTW, I tried to check some existing widgets too, but didn't find much useful information. All domain names used in this text are fictional and any resemblance is purely coincidental :)

  • Html index page and files in that directory

    On my web site, there is an index page, but if I take out that index page, users will see the files in that directory, for instance my site is : XYZ.com and I have a directory called "My_Dir", so when a user typed in "XYZ.com/My_Dir" he will see the index.html if there is one, but if it's not there, he will see a list of all my files inside "My_Dir", so is it safe to assume that with an index page in any of my sub directories, I can hide all the files in those directories from users, in other words if I have "123.txt, abc.html and index.html" in "My_Dir", users won't be able to see "123.txt, abc.html" because of the existence of "index.html" [ unless of course I mention those two files inside index.html ] ?   • Loading HTML into <div> with jQuery-ajax

    Hello everyone, I ran into a bit of trouble while trying to load an external HTML page into a div using jQuery-ajax. I had this div: <div id="content"></div> and wanted to fill it with $("#content").load("include/add.html"); It loads the HTML file perfectly, but inside that add.html is a button that should load add2.html(also using .load), but it seems that neither the button nor the datepicker in that file won't work. I'm guessing the .load function is responsible for that?   • Client side html markdown conversion

    Hello, I've been trying to create a client side editor which allows the end user to create content in html or markdown. The user has two tabs for switching between the two. I managed to find some javascript that converts markdown to html, so if a user has been writing markdown and switches to the html tab, the html equivilant is shown. I haven't been able to find a javascript that converts html to markdown, only a python script. The python script is obviously server side. The tabs are just hyperlinks with script in there. Is there any way I can convert the markdown html when the user clicks the tab? The system has been created in python/django for reference Thanks

    Hi, I want to make an application that executes a remote script. The user can create a script (probabily a LUA script) then stores it in the server. Then he can uses an API for execute the script. I was thinking that API could be a webservice. So my questions are: I need high performance to execute the script. So my first choice was LUA script. Someone has another sugestion? Cause I need high perfomance, I was thinking if the webservice is the best solution. Maybe I could create a TCP/IP Windows Service that hold the users request. It is important to say that I will have many user executing scripts at the same time. So I will have a concurrency problem. My scripts will query in a database. I will use Tokyo Cabinet or Tokio Tyrant. I think Tokio Tyrant is the only solution cause I will have many requests. For perfomance, Do I need to make a connection pooling? Is there anyway to share variables between webservices requests? To make the webservice or the Windows service i was thinking to use C++. Can someone help with these questions? thanks

From the help pages I found the following commands to get the ElementById TCL code set html {<html> <head> </head> <body> <div id="m"> </div> </body> </html> } package require tdom set doc [ dom parse -html $html ] set node [ $doc getElementById m] But when I execute the second set command I get a empty string . I need some lib with simple function like "Render String Var conteining HTML" So no external files (like in flash lib called HTMLwraper you just have to play your SWF on top of HTML). dinamic! I give it string it renders It into some conteiner (not as a bitmab but as if it was real HTML dynamically rendered in flash). (And I need real HTML + CSS support not what normal rich text block gives us) I am going to use it in with Flex (Flash Builder) so I like MXML component model but even pure flash AS3 will workout. It should be Free and Opensource (any license like GPL, LGPL etc will be ok). So Is out there such flash\flex library for HTML + CSS dynamic rendering (rfom given String or XML)?

    Hi I am trying to parse a HTML page using the Simple HTML DOM Parser. This HTML page doesn't make use of IDs which makes it harder to refer to elements. On this page I am trying to get the Album name, Song title, download link and the album image.   • best way to externalize HTML in GWT apps?

    What's the best way to externalize large quantities of HTML in a GWT app? We have a rather complicated GWT app of about 30 "pages"; each page has a sort of guide at the bottom that is several paragraphs of HTML markup. I'd like to externalize the HTML so that it can remain as "unescaped" as possible. I know and understand how to use property files in GWT; that's certainly better than embedding the content in Java classes, but still kind of ugly for HTML (you need to backslashify everything, as well as escape quotes, etc.) Normally this is the kind of thing you would put in a JSP, but I don't see any equivalent to that in GWT. I'm considering just writing a widget that will simply fetch the content from html files on the server and then add the text to an HTML widget. But it seems there ought to be a simpler way.

  • Can't call animated png script from external js file

    Hello, I'm trying to put an animated PNG dinamicaly from external .js file. First I found a simple animated png solution, which draws an animation wherever you put the code within tags, but now it looks like I don't know how to call the function properly from external file. The script is from www.squaregoldfish.co.uk/software/animatedpng, and it looks something like this: <script type="text/javascript" src="animatedpng.js"></script> <div id="pnganim" align="center"> <script> fishAnim = new AnimatedPNG('fish', 't01.png', 3, 100); fishAnim.draw(false); </script> </div> Now, I'm trying to call this from external.js file and jquery: function addFish(){ $('#pnganim').html('<script type="text/javascript" src="animatedpng.js" />'); fishAnim = new AnimatedPNG('fish', 'fish01.png', 3, 100); myFish = fishAnim.draw(false); $('#pnganim').append(myFish); } ... and it's not working. After I click a button that calls the addFish function, it opens only the first frame on a blank page. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks

    Hi, I'm adding some <script> tags dynamically to the head element after page load. I understand the scripts are loaded asynchronously, but can I expect them to be parsed in the order they are added? I'm seeing the expected behaviour in Firefox, but not in Safari or Chrome. Looking at the document in Chrome developer tools and Firebug, both show the following - <html> <head> ... <script type="text/javascript" src="A.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="B.js"></script> </head> ... </html> However looking at the resource loading view, chrome seems to parse whichever is returned first from the server, while firebug always loads them in the order the script tags were added, even when B is returned first from the server. Should I expect Chrome/Safari to parse the files in the specified order? Using Chrome 5.0.375.29 beta on OS X 10.6.3
