  • json problems with making a ruby on rails application

    - by Prince Merdz
So I'm using Bitnami to learn Ruby on Rails. I have also previously tried the manual installation for ruby and rails and was met by the same problem so I thought I should try first the easy package deal of Bitnami. Anyway my problem with json is that it causes the bundle install to fail. First the auto bundle install that rails new does fails because of an ssl error. Which is easily solved by changing the source in the gemfile which is https to http. However when I try to bundle install it does another error when it tries to install json. • ImageMagick on Mac OSX Snow Leopard. Is there any way to get it to work?

    - by ?????
It seems that I have more trouble getting standard Unix things to run on Snow Leopard than any other platform--including Windows cygwin For the past couple of days, I've been trying to get ImageMagick to run on Snow Leopard. The most obvious way, Mac Ports, fails: tppllc-Mac-Pro:ImageMagick-sl swirsky$ sudo port install imagemagick ---> Computing dependencies for p5-locale-gettext ---> Configuring p5-locale-gettext Error: Target org.macports.configure returned: configure failure: shell command " cd "/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_perl_p5-locale-gettext/work/gettext-1.05" && /opt/local/bin/perl Makefile.PL INSTALLDIRS=vendor " returned error 2 Command output: checking for gettext... no checking for gettext in -I/opt/local/include -arch i386 -L/opt/local/lib -lintl...gettext function not found. Please install libintl at Makefile.PL line 18. no Error: Unable to upgrade port: 1 Error: Unable to execute port: upgrade xorg-libXt failed Before reporting a bug, first run the command again with the -d flag to get complete output. tppllc-Mac-Pro:ImageMagick-sl swirsky$ Not wanting to spend another two days figuring out why my libintl doesn't have a "gettext" function, I tried a different route: the script mentioned here: http://github.com/masterkain/ImageMagick-sl This script downloads and installs an ImageMagic independently of MacPorts issues tppllc-Mac-Pro:ImageMagick-sl swirsky$ /usr/local/bin/convert dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib Referenced from: /opt/local/lib/libfontconfig.1.dylib Reason: Incompatible library version: libfontconfig.1.dylib requires version 8.0.0 or later, but libiconv.2.dylib provides version 7.0.0 Trace/BPT trap It downloads everything and compiles fine, but fails when I try to run it, with the message above. So now I'm two steps away from ImageMagick, trying to get a newer libiconv on my machine. I downloaded the latest libiconv, compiled and built it. I put the resulting library in /opt/local/lib, and I still get the same error message: tppllc-Mac-Pro:.libs swirsky$ sudo mv libiconv.2.dylib /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib tppllc-Mac-Pro:.libs swirsky$ convert dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib Referenced from: /opt/local/lib/libfontconfig.1.dylib Reason: Incompatible library version: libfontconfig.1.dylib requires version 8.0.0 or later, but libiconv.2.dylib provides version 7.0.0 Trace/BPT trap So here's my question: Is it possible to get ImageMagick to run on OSX Snow Leopard? • compiling opencv 2.4 on a 64 bit mac in Xcode

    - by Walt
I have an opencv project that I've been developing under ubuntu 12.04, on a parellels VM on a mac which has an x86_64 architecture. There have been many screen switching performance issues that I believe are due to the VM, where linux video modes flip around for a couple seconds while camera access is made by the opencv application. I decided to moved the project into Xcode on the mac side of the computer to continue the opencv development. However, I'm not that familiar with xcode and am having trouble getting the project to build correctly there. I have xcode installed. I downloaded and decompressed the latest version of opencv on the mac, and ran: ~/src/opencv/build/cmake-gui -G Xcode .. per the instructions from willowgarage and various other locations. This appeared to work fine (however I'm wondering now if I'm missing an architecture setting in here, although it is 64-bit intel in Xcode). I then setup an xcode project with the source files from the linux project and changed the include directories to use /opt/local/include/... rather than the /usr/local/include/... I switched xcode to use the LLVM GCC compiler in the build settings for the project then set the Apple LLVM Dialog for C++ to Language Dialect to GNU++11 (which seems possibly inconsistant with the line above) I'm not using a makefile in xcode, (that I'm aware of - it has its own project file...) I was also running into a linker issue that looked like they may be resolved with the addition of this linker flag: -lopencv_video based on a similar posting here: other thread however in that case the person was using a Makefile in their project. I've tried adding this linker flag under "Other Linker Flags" in xcode build settings but still get build errors. I think I may have two issues here, one with the architecture settings when building the opencv libraries with Cmake, and one with the linker flag settings in my project. Currently the build error list looks like this: Undefined symbols for architecture x86_64: "cv::_InputArray::_InputArray(cv::Mat const&)", referenced from: _main in main.o "cv::_OutputArray::_OutputArray(cv::Mat&)", referenced from: _main in main.o "cv::Mat::deallocate()", referenced from: cv::Mat::release() in main.o "cv::Mat::copySize(cv::Mat const&)", referenced from: cv::Mat::Mat(cv::Mat const&)in main.o cv::Mat::operator=(cv::Mat const&)in main.o "cv::Mat::Mat(_IplImage const*, bool)", referenced from: _main in main.o "cv::imread(std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > const&, int)", referenced from: _main in main.o ---SNIP--- ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture x86_64 collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Can anyone provide some guidance on what to try next? Thanks, Walt

  • how to add revision and build date to source

    - by gucki
Hi! I have a gcc project and would like to automatically add defines for build date and revision number (from git) to my sources. What's the best way to do this? My goal is simple to be able to do something like this on startup: printf("Test app build on %s, revision %d", BUILD_DATE, REVISION) For building I'm using make with a simple Makefile.inc, not autoconf ot anything like this. Thanks, Corin

i have made a program in C using the gcc compiler. Right now it has no GUI components. So, I am basically compiling it with makefile and running it in the terminal. I need to deploy it so that the executable is standalone. So, basically I want the executable to have an icon and when clicked start the program in the terminal. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

The error message shows it's looking in /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib. otools -L shows that this does implement 8.0.0: tppllc-Mac-Pro:.libs swirsky$ otool -L /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib: /usr/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib (compatibility version 8.0.0, current version 8.0.0) /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.0.0) tppllc-Mac-Pro:.libs swirsky$ And, for good measure, I set the DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH to make sure this directory is the one for dynamic libraries. So even though I do have a library that provides 8.0.0, it's being seen as 7.0.0! Any ideas why this would happen? So here's my question: Is it possible to get ImageMagick to run on OSX Snow Leopard? Are there any binary distributions that have static libraries baked in so I don't have to worry about these issue/

  • compile wxWidget on Snow Leopard

    - by Quincy
I just downloaded wxWidget source code on my snow leopard machine. The source code is the multiplatform one, so it contains windows and GTK components of wxWidget as well. I'd like to compile the wxWidget source code, but haven't found a good guide yet. This is my first step to create a multiplatform project, hopefully I would be able to use CMake to generate makefile later on. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm porting Quake3 on linux using quake3 open source. I used ioquake3, but It uses SDL library. Do you know how to compile the quake3 without SDL and OpenAL with ioquake3? Or anyone have the quake source which is not included the linbrary? And I don't want to compile using perl scrip, neither. I want to compile with only makefile. Thank you!

  • How do I get rid of LD_LIBRARY_PATH at run-time?

    - by Kjir
I am building a C++ application that uses Intel's IPP library. This library is installed by default in /opt and requires you to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH both for compiling and for running your software (if you choose the shared library linking, which I did). I already modified my configure.ac/Makefile.am so that I do not need to set that variable when compiling, but I still can't find the shared library at run-time; how do I do that? I'm compiling with the -Wl, -R/path/to/lib flag using g++

  • customizing what files to keep under version control ? [svn]

I did this svn status No output // meaning . is a working copy make // created a lot of *.o files svn status No change How come this is possible? This clearly suggests there be some wildcard way to customize the files under version control? How can I do that?s

  • Learning to compile in xcode

    - by 00PS
I have started using c++ extensively in school and now my programs are getting to the point where have more than 1 file (i.e. header, driver, implementation file). I don't know enough about software development to understand or get a grasp of how to setup the build process by looking at apple's guides. Could someone walk me through how to compile a simple c++ project with a header and two c++ files in xcode? Do I first need to make a makefile??

  • C++ function not found during compilation

    - by forthewinwin
    For a homework assignment: I'm supposed to create randomized alphabetial keys, print them to a file, and then hash each of them into a hash table using the function "goodHash", found in my below code. When I try to run the below code, it says my "goodHash" "identifier isn't found". What's wrong with my code? #include <iostream> #include <vector> #include <cstdlib> #include "math.h" #include <fstream> #include <time.h> using namespace std; // "makeKey" function to create an alphabetical key // based on 8 randomized numbers 0 - 25. string makeKey() { int k; string key = ""; for (k = 0; k < 8; k++) { int keyNumber = (rand() % 25); if (keyNumber == 0) key.append("A"); if (keyNumber == 1) key.append("B"); if (keyNumber == 2) key.append("C"); if (keyNumber == 3) key.append("D"); if (keyNumber == 4) key.append("E"); if (keyNumber == 5) key.append("F"); if (keyNumber == 6) key.append("G"); if (keyNumber == 7) key.append("H"); if (keyNumber == 8) key.append("I"); if (keyNumber == 9) key.append("J"); if (keyNumber == 10) key.append("K"); if (keyNumber == 11) key.append("L"); if (keyNumber == 12) key.append("M"); if (keyNumber == 13) key.append("N"); if (keyNumber == 14) key.append("O"); if (keyNumber == 15) key.append("P"); if (keyNumber == 16) key.append("Q"); if (keyNumber == 17) key.append("R"); if (keyNumber == 18) key.append("S"); if (keyNumber == 19) key.append("T"); if (keyNumber == 20) key.append("U"); if (keyNumber == 21) key.append("V"); if (keyNumber == 22) key.append("W"); if (keyNumber == 23) key.append("X"); if (keyNumber == 24) key.append("Y"); if (keyNumber == 25) key.append("Z"); } return key; } // "makeFile" function to produce the desired text file. // Note this only works as intended if you include the ".txt" extension, // and that a file of the same name doesn't already exist. void makeFile(string fileName, int n) { ofstream ourFile; ourFile.open(fileName); int k; // For use in below loop to compare with n. int l; // For use in the loop inside the below loop. string keyToPassTogoodHash = ""; for (k = 1; k <= n; k++) { for (l = 0; l < 8; l++) { // For-loop to write to the file ONE key ourFile << makeKey()[l]; keyToPassTogoodHash += (makeKey()[l]); } ourFile << " " << k << "\n";// Writes two spaces and the data value goodHash(keyToPassTogoodHash); // I think this has to do with the problem makeKey(); // Call again to make a new key. } } // Primary function to create our desired file! void mainFunction(string fileName, int n) { makeKey(); makeFile(fileName, n); } // Hash Table for Part 2 struct Node { int key; string value; Node* next; }; const int hashTableSize = 10; Node* hashTable[hashTableSize]; // "goodHash" function for Part 2 void goodHash(string key) { int x = 0; int y; int keyConvertedToNumber = 0; // For-loop to produce a numeric value based on the alphabetic key, // which is then hashed into hashTable using the hash function // declared below the loop (hashFunction). for (y = 0; y < 8; y++) { if (key[y] == 'A' || 'B' || 'C') x = 0; if (key[y] == 'D' || 'E' || 'F') x = 1; if (key[y] == 'G' || 'H' || 'I') x = 2; if (key[y] == 'J' || 'K' || 'L') x = 3; if (key[y] == 'M' || 'N' || 'O') x = 4; if (key[y] == 'P' || 'Q' || 'R') x = 5; if (key[y] == 'S' || 'T') x = 6; if (key[y] == 'U' || 'V') x = 7; if (key[y] == 'W' || 'X') x = 8; if (key[y] == 'Y' || 'Z') x = 9; keyConvertedToNumber = x + keyConvertedToNumber; } int hashFunction = keyConvertedToNumber % hashTableSize; Node *temp; temp = new Node; temp->value = key; temp->next = hashTable[hashFunction]; hashTable[hashFunction] = temp; } // First two lines are for Part 1, to call the functions key to Part 1. int main() { srand ( time(NULL) ); // To make sure our randomization works. mainFunction("sandwich.txt", 5); // To test program cin.get(); return 0; } I realize my code is cumbersome in some sections, but I'm a noob at C++ and don't know much to do it better. I'm guessing another way I could do it is to AFTER writing the alphabetical keys to the file, read them from the file and hash each key as I do that, but I wouldn't know how to go about coding that.

I wonder if bash can be modified somehow, so in all outputs or in some specific outputs (like from Makefile, etc) I can get different colors dependeing on, for instance: make[1]: Leaving directory or g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. etc. Thanks

So, how can I invoke GCC or other shell commands from C#?

  • Faster code with another compiler

    - by Andrei
I'm using the standard gcc compiler in math software development with C-language. I don't know that much about compilers or compiler options, and I was just wondering, is it possible to make faster executables using another compiler or choosing better options? The default Makefile sets options -ffast-math and -O3 and I think both of them have some impact in the overall calculation time. My software is using memory quite extensively, so I imagine some options related to memory management might do the trick? Any ideas?

  • How to link latest stable version of libCURL using vc++2010

On 2 separate machines in completely different environments (work, home) I've been unable to compile libCURL out of the box. Running nmake -f Makefile.vc mode=dll VC=10, I get an unresolved external symbol errors for _IdnToAscii and _IdnToUnicode. I believe the definitions are in Normaliz.lib, which is referenced in LFLAGS, but it either isn't finding it or the version I have doesn't have those functions. But I don't see any option to download this file...anyone have a good solution short of commenting out the 2 lines that use these functions?
