  • NSXMLParser not parsing attributes. No NSXMLParser Error.

I am trying to parse the XML located at this URL: http://www.iglooseat.com/gis_iphone_xml.php?zip=06488 // 1) This method gets invoked when the user presses a button on the Iphone to retrieve the xml data (IBAction)getLocations:(id)sender { NSString *msg=nil; NSString *urlString= [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"http://www.iglooseat.com/gis_iphone_xml.php?zip=%@",zipField.text]; // send the URL NSError *error; [siteList updateLocationsFromURL:urlString parseError:&error]; WPSite *w = [siteList siteAtIndex:0]; // alert user what's in the zipField msg = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat: @"url to send: %@\n site name: %@" , urlString , w.name]; UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Debug" message:msg delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Ok" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [urlString release]; [alert show]; [alert release]; [msg release]; } // 2) This function takes the URL and performs XML parsing on the data at that URL. (void)updateLocationsFromURL:(NSString )urlString parseError:(NSError *)error{ /* NSURL class that inherits from NSObject class that provides a way to manipulate URLs and the resources they reference. */ NSURL *url = [[NSURL alloc] initWithString:urlString]; /* initWithContentsOfURL: initializes a newly allocated data object initialized with the data from the location specified by a URL. */ NSXMLParser *parser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:url]; // init bool to NO errorConnecting = NO; // release from mem the NSURfile://localhost/Users/icheung/Desktop/WPMap/Classes/WPSite.mL [url release]; // set parser delgate to self [parser setDelegate:self]; // don't process namespace [parser setShouldProcessNamespaces:YES]; // or namespace prefixes [parser setShouldReportNamespacePrefixes:NO]; /* don't care 'bout external (ex. don't perform I/O op's to load external DTD's (Document Type Definitions)) */ [parser setShouldResolveExternalEntities:NO]; // start the event-driven parsing operation [parser parse]; // get NSError object if an error occured during parsing NSError *parseError = [parser parserError]; if(parseError && error) { *error = parseError; NSLog(@"Error code:%d %@", parseError.code, parseError.domain); errorConnecting = YES; } // relase from mem the parser [parser release]; } // 3) In the parser:didStartElement:namespaceURI:qualifiedName:attributes: I attempt to extract the 'state' attribute from a 'marker' element in my xml. • How to safely operate on parameters in threads, using C++ & Pthreads?

    - by ChrisCphDK
Hi. I'm having some trouble with a program using pthreads, where occassional crashes occur, that could be related to how the threads operate on data So I have some basic questions about how to program using threads, and memory layout: Assume that a public class function performs some operations on some strings, and returns the result as a string. The prototype of the function could be like this: std::string SomeClass::somefunc(const std::string &strOne, const std::string &strTwo) { //Error checking of strings have been omitted std::string result = strOne.substr(0,5) + strTwo.substr(0,5); return result; } Is it correct to assume that strings, being dynamic, are stored on the heap, but that a reference to the string is allocated on the stack at runtime? Stack: [Some mem addr] pointer address to where the string is on the heap Heap: [Some mem addr] memory allocated for the initial string which may grow or shrink To make the function thread safe, the function is extended with the following mutex (which is declared as private in the "SomeClass") locking: std::string SomeClass::somefunc(const std::string &strOne, const std::string &strTwo) { pthread_mutex_lock(&someclasslock); //Error checking of strings have been omitted std::string result = strOne.substr(0,5) + strTwo.substr(0,5); pthread_mutex_unlock(&someclasslock); return result; } Is this a safe way of locking down the operations being done on the strings (all three), or could a thread be stopped by the scheduler in the following cases, which I'd assume would mess up the intended logic: a. Right after the function is called, and the parameters: strOne & strTwo have been set in the two reference pointers that the function has on the stack, the scheduler takes away processing time for the thread and lets a new thread in, which overwrites the reference pointers to the function, which then again gets stopped by the scheduler, letting the first thread back in? b. Can the same occur with the "result" string: the first string builds the result, unlocks the mutex, but before returning the scheduler lets in another thread which performs all of it's work, overwriting the result etc. Or are the reference parameters / result string being pushed onto the stack while another thread is doing performing it's task? Is the safe / correct way of doing this in threads, and "returning" a result, to pass a reference to a string that will be filled with the result instead: void SomeClass::somefunc(const std::string &strOne, const std::string &strTwo, std::string result) { pthread_mutex_lock(&someclasslock); //Error checking of strings have been omitted result = strOne.substr(0,5) + strTwo.substr(0,5); pthread_mutex_unlock(&someclasslock); } The intended logic is that several objects of the "SomeClass" class creates new threads and passes objects of themselves as parameters, and then calls the function: "someFunc": int SomeClass::startNewThread() { pthread_attr_t attr; pthread_t pThreadID; if(pthread_attr_init(&attr) != 0) return -1; if(pthread_attr_setdetachstate(&attr, PTHREAD_CREATE_DETACHED) != 0) return -2; if(pthread_create(&pThreadID, &attr, proxyThreadFunc, this) != 0) return -3; if(pthread_attr_destroy(&attr) != 0) return -4; return 0; } void* proxyThreadFunc(void* someClassObjPtr) { return static_cast<SomeClass*> (someClassObjPtr)->somefunc("long string","long string"); } Sorry for the long description. But I hope the questions and intended purpose is clear, if not let me know and I'll elaborate. Best regards. Chris

  • Wireless card power management

    - by penner
I have noticed that when my computer in plugged in, the wireless strength increases. I'm assuming this is to do with power management. Is there a way to disable Wireless Power Management? I have found a few blog posts that show hacks to disable this but what is best practice here? Should there not be an option via the power menu that lets you toggle this? • Virtual Machine Manager Error - Error determing default hypervisor

    - by dallasclark
I have Fedora 11 and trying to get Xen working (which I think it is already) but the Virtual Machine Manager cannot find the hypervisor. When starting Virtual Machine Manager, I receive the following error Error determining default hypervisor. Could not populate a default connection. Make sure the appropriate virtualization packages are installed (kvm, qemu, etc.) and that libvirtd has been restarted to notice the change. A hypervisor connection can be manually added via File - Add Connection I've restarted libvirtd a few times and tried connecting manually but can't work it out. Some useful information: # lsof | grep xen libvirtd 2962 root mem REG 253,0 19776 13379 /usr/lib/libxenstore.so.3.0.0 # service libvirtd status libvirtd (pid 2962) is running...

  • How to stop a ICMP attack?

    - by cumhur onat

  • Windows 7 explorer always crashes, opens small "Personalized Settings" window

    - by Ian Sellar
My Windows 7 desktop PC, built by me, started acting very weird in the last couple of days. I use it quite often, about half of the time through TeamViewer. Explorer would crash and restart randomly, almost always through TeamViewer. This made me suspect that TeamViewer was the problem but I have reproduced it with and without TeamViewer several times. The only way I can seem to get the problem not to occur is by booting into Safe Mode. I have used CCleaner and Malwarebytes to make sure it wasn't a registry error or malware causing the problem, and I have tried the fix in the seemly related issue here as well every other fix I have found online including removing security updates KB980408 and KB2926765 as well as using "sfc /scannow" and a bunch of other things I can't remember. More recently when I try to start explorer it is popping up a small window that says "Personalized Settings" on the top, but is completely empty and crashes instantly. The only way I can get it to disappear is to kill the explorer.exe process. I wish I could take a screenshot but I can't seem to open paint or even find the exe. I have tried restarting it, I have tried starting it while the personalized settings window was open. I have come up with two lists of processes the first is the list of active processes when I boot into safe mode and explorer seems to work fine. The second is the list of processes that I can narrow it down to in normal boot and still replicate the problem. There is one process that I can't seem to close. NisSrv.exe which is describes as "Microsoft Network Realtime Inspection Service". When I try to close the process NisSrv.exe it says "The operation could not be completed. Access is denied." When I try to close the related service it gives the same message. • UITableView's cellForRowAtIndexPath is not getting called after low memory warning

    - by Jinesh
I am new to COCOA and Objective C. I am working on an application which have two controllers with one table view in each, clicking an item form this table will lead to another controller to be pushed to the stack. All was working fine till i started handling low memory warning in app delegate. What i am doing in app delegate's applicationDidReceiveMemoryWarning is, deleting all of my model and popping out all controllers to its root view using popToRootViewControllerAnimated. Now my problem starts, once low mem warning is received table's cellForRowAtIndexPath is not getting called. All other methods of UITableViewDataSource is properly called. What i get on screen is a blank white screen. I am testing my app in iPhone OS 3.0 and development is done in Xcode V 3.1.3. Hope you guys can help me to nail this. Thanks in advance, Jinesh.

  • On WindowsMobile, how can i tell what other processes are reserving shared memory space?

    - by glutz78
On WindowMobile 6.1, I am using VirtualAlloc to reserve 2MB chunks, which will return me an address from the large shared memory area so allocations do not count against my per process virtual space. (doc here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa908768.aspx) However, on some devices i notice that I am not able to reserve memory after a certain point. VirtualAlloc will return NULL (getlasterror() says out of memory). The only explanation for this that I see is that another process has already reserved a bunch of memory and my process is therefore unable to. Any idea where I can find a tool to show me the shared mem region of a WM device? Thanks.

  • Inspect in memory hsqldb while debugging

    - by Albert
We're using hdsqldb in memory to run junit tests which operate against a database. The db is setup before running each test via a spring configuration. All works fine. Now when a tests fails it can be convinient to be able to inspect the values in the in memory database. Is this possible? If so how? Our url is: jdbc.url=jdbc:hsqldb:mem:testdb;sql.enforce_strict_size=true The database is destroyed after each tests. But when the debugger is running the database should also still be alive. I've tried connecting with the sqldb databaseManager. That works, but I don't see any tables or data. Any help is highly appreciated!

  • Examining mmaped addresses using GDB

    - by Mikeage
I'm using the driver I posted at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/647783/direct-memory-access-in-linux/ to mmap some physical ram into a userspace address. However, I can't use GDB to look at any of the address; i.e., x 0x12345678 (where 0x12345678 is the return value of mmap) fails with an error "Cannot access memory at address 0x12345678". Is there any way to tell GDB that this memory can be viewed? Alternatively, is there something different I can do in the mmap (either the call or the implementation of foo_mmap there) that will allow it to access this memory? Note that I'm not asking about /dev/mem (as in the first snippet there) but amount a mmap to memory acquired via ioremap(), virt_to_phys() and remap_pfn_range()

  • How to calculate real-time stats?

    - by Diego Jancic
I have a site with millions of users (well, actually it doesn't have any yet, but let's imagine), and I want to calculate some stats like "log-ins in the past hour". The problem is similar to the one described here: http://highscalability.com/blog/2008/4/19/how-to-build-a-real-time-analytics-system.html The simplest approach would be to do a select like this: select count(distinct user_id) from logs where date>='20120601 1200' and date <='20120601 1300' (of course other conditions could apply for the stats, like log-ins per country) Of course this would be really slow, mainly if it has millions (or even thousands) of rows, and I want to query this every time a page is displayed. How would you summarize the data? What should go to the (mem)cache? EDIT: I'm looking for a way to de-normalize the data, or to keep the cache up-to-date. For example I could increment an in-memory variable every time someone logs in, but that would help to know the total amount of logins, not the "logins in the last hour". Hope it's more clear now.

  • memory problem with metapost

    - by yCalleecharan
Hi, I'm using gnuplot to plot a graph to the mp format and then I'm converting it to eps via the command: mpost --sprologues=3 -soutputtemplate=\"%j-%c.eps\" myfigu.mp But I don't get the eps output; instead I get this message: This is MetaPost, version 1.208 (kpathsea version 3.5.7dev) (mem=mpost 2009.12.12) 6 MAY 2010 23:16 **myfigu.mp (./myfigu.mp ! MetaPost capacity exceeded, sorry [main memory size=3000000]. _wc-withpen .currentpen.withcolor.currentcolor gpdraw-...ptpath[(EXPR0)]_sms((EXPR1),(EXPR2))_wc .else:_ac.contour.ptpath[(... l.48052 gpdraw(0,517.1a,166.4b) ; If you really absolutely need more capacity, you can ask a wizard to enlarge me. How do I tweak in order to get more memory. The file from which I'm plotting has two columns of 189,200 values each. These values are of type long double (output from a C program). The text file containing these two column values is about 6 MB. Thanks a lot...

  • In Python, how to use a C++ function which returns an allocated array of structs via a ** parameter?

    - by Jon-Eric
    I'd like to use some existing C++ code, NvTriStrip, in a Python tool. SWIG easily handles the functions with simple parameters, but the main function, GenerateStrips, is much more complicated. What do I need to put in the SWIG interface file to indicate that primGroups is really an output parameter and that it must be cleaned up with delete[]? /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// // GenerateStrips() // // in_indices: input index list, the indices you would use to render // in_numIndices: number of entries in in_indices // primGroups: array of optimized/stripified PrimitiveGroups // numGroups: number of groups returned // // Be sure to call delete[] on the returned primGroups to avoid leaking mem // bool GenerateStrips( const unsigned short* in_indices, const unsigned int in_numIndices, PrimitiveGroup** primGroups, unsigned short* numGroups, bool validateEnabled = false ); FYI, here is the PrimitiveGroup declaration: enum PrimType { PT_LIST, PT_STRIP, PT_FAN }; struct PrimitiveGroup { PrimType type; unsigned int numIndices; unsigned short* indices; PrimitiveGroup() : type(PT_STRIP), numIndices(0), indices(NULL) {} ~PrimitiveGroup() { if(indices) delete[] indices; indices = NULL; } };

  • JNI: dll function works ok in C++ main, but not with dll wrapper

    - by Joseph Lim
I have an a.dll (not modifiable as i do not have the source) with a function bool openPort(DWORD mem).I wrote a c++ main, loaded this dll using LoadLibrary, and the function works well.It returns true. Now, I need to call this function from Java via JNI. I wrote another b.dll with a function like so JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_MyClass_openPortFunc (JNIEnv *env, jobject obj, jint pMemPhy) { hInstLibrary = LoadLibrary("a.dll"); typedef bool (*openPort)(DWORD); openPort _openPort; _openPort = (openPort)GetProcAddress(hInstLibrary, "openPort"); DWORD memAddr = 0xda000; if(_openPort(memAddr)){ cout << "ok" << endl; }else{ cout << "failed " << endl; } } This however, causes the openPort to return false despite using the same parameters. I hope someone can advise me. Thank you. :)

  • PHP Possible Memory Leak

    - by dropson
I have a script that loops through a database for images to convert with gd & imagick. I unset or replace all variables and objects in between each loop. For each loop, get_memory_usage(1) reveals a concurrent amount of memory used by that script. Which is expected. But, when I run "top", the %MEM column reports that this script, (same PID), increments with several percentages for each loop. I destroy all images when I'm done with them, and when I run get_defined_vars(); only the standard globals and a few variables I have is set. Why is "top" % Memory Usage different than what PHP reports? After 10 loops, PHP has taken 20% percetage of the system memory. I run php 5.2.6 on Debian 5

  • how to get apache mod_cache work with mod_wsgi (django)?

    - by harmv
I thought i'd speed up my django projects, by letting apache doing some caching for me. Unfortunately I see that apache never caches my dynamic pages. Has mod_cache problems with mod_wsgi served code ? My apache config: <VirtualHost *:80 ServerName myserver.com CacheEnable mem / # for testing only CacheIgnoreQueryString On CacheIgnoreCacheControl On WSGIDaemonProcess aname processes=1 threads=25 WSGIProcessGroup aname Alias /media/ /home/harm/projects/test/media/ WSGIScriptAlias / /home/harm/projects/test/wsgi.py The response does have the correct caching headers: Content-Length 2647 Content-Encoding gzip Vary Accept-Encoding Cache-Control public, max-age=3600 Keep-Alive timeout=15, max=100 Connection Keep-Alive Content-Type application/x-javascript Am I missing something ?

  • has anyone tried designing a webpage for psp?

    - by lock
erm im trying to make a personal bible for my psp (i tried googling but the only bible version i've seen on my skimming is on KJV and im trying to make mine have 3 versions namely TNIV, NLT and Amplified Bible) so my only solution was to make on for myself and my approach was to save an html file on my mem-stick and open it up through the console's browser my concerns are: 1. how does the psp browser handle css and javascript? 2. is there a doctype declaration specifically designed for the psp browser? 3. can i use any local database to store my texts for easier query or do i have no choice but rely on static text files? 4. is there anyone in SO who have experienced developing a page for this console and can he/she give me some tips and advice? thanks much in advance for your responses.. :)

  • Is there any way to determine what type of memory the segments returned by VirtualQuery() are?

    - by bdbaddog
    Greetings, I'm able to walk a processes memory map using logic like this: MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION mbi; void *lpAddress=(void*)0; while (VirtualQuery(lpAddress,&mbi,sizeof(mbi))) { fprintf(fptr,"Mem base:%-10x start:%-10x Size:%-10x Type:%-10x State:%-10x\n", mbi.AllocationBase, mbi.BaseAddress, mbi.RegionSize, mbi.Type,mbi.State); lpAddress=(void *)((unsigned int)mbi.BaseAddress + (unsigned int)mbi.RegionSize); } I'd like to know if a given segment is used for static allocation, stack, and/or heap and/or other? Is there any way to determine that?

  • Bash - Adding 0's in the middle of a file name

    - by user596691
I have a bunch of files which are named: mem0.csv mem1.csv . . . . mem153.csv . . . They are all in the same folder. When I do ls in the folder they appear in an order of mem0.csv mem1.csv mem10.csv mem100.csv . . . mem2.csv mem20.csv . . . I want to create a bash script to push 0's between mem and the number. I figure that I need to add 0's until all the filenames are of the same length only problem is that I don't know how to do this.
