  • Variables are "lost" somewhere, then reappear... all with no error thrown.

    Hi All, I'm probably going to make myself look like a fool with my horrible scripting but here we go. I have a form that I am collecting a bunch of checkbox info from using a binary method. ON/SET=1 !ISSET=0 Anyway, all seems to be going as planned except for the query bit. When I run the script, it runs through and throws no errors, but it's not doing what I think I am telling it to. I've hard coded the values in the query and left them in the script and it DOES update the DB. I've also tried echoing all the needed variables after the script runs and exiting right after so I can audit them... and they're all there.   • C# MDX RenderToSurface, where to reset after device is lost?

    Hi, I got a problem with the RenderToSurface class. When I resize the Form of my Device, the Draw method is still called, but doesnt throw an Exception, it looks like this: device.Clear(ClearFlags.Target, Color.Red, 0, 0); device.BeginScene(); // here is out commented code device.EndScene(); device.Present(); In another method, I wrote this: renderToSurface.BeginScene(surfaces[currentIndex]); // here is out commented code renderToSurface.EndScene(Filter.None); and this method seems to throw a nullpointer exception when I resize the window; So my question is: - where to reset / restore / handle the renderToSurface class? I'm not great at Hibernate to be honest, prefer straight SQL but I must learn, but i can't see what it is that is wrong.....? Any suggestions?

  • YUI Autocomplete: itemSelectEvent getting lost with IE6 and IE7?

    I'm using YUI Autocomplete (latest version loaded using loader as of today (May 14th, 2010), which looks to be 2.8.1, with the following options: ac = new YAHOO.widget.AutoComplete("mynode", "autocomp_node", ac_ds, {typeAhead: true, forceSelection: true}); ac.itemSelectEvent.subscribe( function(type, args) { alert("hey:" + args[2][1]); $('#parent_id').val(args[2][1]); }); The itemSelectEvent catches selections in AutoComplete and fills in some data on the parent. This works on FF, Chrome, Safari, and IE8. On IE6 and IE7, however, the event never seems to trigger. To replicate: In the autocomplete field, allow it to autofill for you, then hit enter. This should select the autofill and move on to the next field (that's what it does in other browsers). With IE6 and IE7 it seems to instead trigger the form submission - the itemSelectEvent never fires (or perhaps fires after the form submission?). Has anyone seen this? Any work-arounds?

    I am a long time agile advocated but one of the things that bothers me about Agile is that a lot of agile practitioners, especially the younger ones, have thrown out or are missing a whole lot of good (non Scrum, non XP) practices. Alistair Cockburn's style of writing Use Cases springs to mind; orthogonal arrays (pairwise testing) is another. I hope this is an okay forum to ask this, but since I read mostly Agile related books and articles and work with mostly Agile folk ... is there anything I'm missing? Thanks for all your help.     I have jQuery that drops a menu down when its parent is clicked on, and dismisses it when they hover away from the menu. I am wanting to change the behavior so that it only dismisses if they click somewhere else on the page, or a different menu.   • Has subversion lost some of my revisions in a branch?

    I've been working on my project using a subversion branch. I've used the branching feature few times before without issue, until today. I've come to merge back into the trunk, and noticed that not everything from my branch was there. I go back to my project folder which I've been committing to the branch and look at the log messages using TortoiseSVN (the command line basic log command shows the same). See the attached image. The revision numbers go up incrementally, until revision 303 (the last trunk revision was 299). Then there are numbers missing. The latest commit, about half an hour ago was 316, but it doesn't show up in the log for the branch. Trying to commit the files again doesn't do anything. I am the only person committing to this repository at present. The missing revisions do not show up in the log for the trunk project. What's going on here. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Update - the revisions do show in the repo browser (Thanks Antonio Perez), but I don't understand why they are not being included with the merge?

  • How to debug lost events posted from non-GUI thread in Qt?

    As the subject says, I'm posting events from non-GUI thread (some GStreamer thread, to be precise). Code looks like this: GstBusSyncReply on_bus_message(GstBus* bus, GstMessage* message, gpointer data) { bool ret = QMetaObject::invokeMethod(static_cast<QObject*>(data), "stateChanged", Qt::QueuedConnection); Q_ASSERT(ret); return GST_BUS_PASS; } The problem is, stateChanged (doesn't matter whether it is a slot or signal) is not called. I've stepped into QMetaObject::invokeMethod with debugger, followed it till it called PostMessage (it is Qt 4.6.2 on Windows, by the way) – everything seemed to be OK. Object pointed to by data lives in GUI thread, I've double-checked this. How can I debug this problem? Or, better, maybe sidestep it altogether?

    Hi, My issue is that multiple websites are going to include my JS file and when calling something like this: <script src="..."></script> hello.say("yay"); there going to be a race issue so sometimes it could make it sometimes not. i know that i can solve that easily by putting every function in a window.onload but that wouldn't be clean as i've seen other websites magically solve that like google analytics: ..   • Changed profiles; lost Ubuntu; how do I get it back?

    Installed Ubuntu-secure-remix 12.10 in a dual boot with Windows 8 on an HP laptop. A first-time Linux user, I was exploring settings when I changed profiles (not sure what I changed it to). Now the Linux boots into what I believe is the shell. I can still log in (that is, I am already a user - so that's still there). Due possibly to using rEFInd, I cannot figure how to run Ubuntu in recovery mode. How can I get Ubuntu back up and running again? Thanks in advance.

  • How to Program AWS Spot Instances to Strategically Bid So the Auction is Never Lost Until a Competitor Beats the Maximum I'm Willing to Pay?

    I believe I'm in the right section of stack exchange to ask this. If not, let me know. I only use Amazon Web Services for temporary type hosting services, so the spot instances are quite valuable to me. I would also just make an instance and start and stop it - but - that doesn't necessarily fit my bootstrapped budget sadly. Anyways, it really kills me when someone outbids me on a spot instance I have (I tend to go for the larger ones which there are fewer of available) and I get randomly kicked off. I know or at least I believe there is a way to program in something somehow to dynamically change your bidding price to beat a potential competitor's if their's is higher than yours. Now, I previously believed Amazon would just charge me for the highest price right above the next lowest competitor automatically (eliminating the need for this) - so if I bid too high, then I only pay what I would of needed to in order to win and keep the auction. Essentially, I thought my bid price was my max bid price. Apparently, according to my bills and several experiments I've done - this is not the case. They charge me for whatever I bid even when I know there is no one else around to counter bid me. I needed to clarify that, but let me get back to the main point: Let's say I'm bidding $0.50, competitor comes in and bids 0.55 cents. I get kicked off. I want to have it to where I'd set a maximum I'm willing to pay (let's say $1.00 here), and then when competitor comes in and tries to bid $.55, my bid is dynamically adjusted to beat his at $0.56 up until he breaks my $1.00 threshold. I've been reading the guides and although they are more or less straightforward, I feel like they leave a few holes in them that end up confusing me. Like, for instance, where do I input said command or when do I do it? Maybe I'm just tech illiterate and need help deciphering these guides.   • Postfix - suspend domain from which deferred status was received?

    Is there a possibility to make Postfix stop trying (for a period of time) to send emails to a domain from which it received a deferred response? Currently my Postfix goes through each address in the queue. Please see the below example. At 09:48:32 the status=deferred appears. After this Postfix should stop trying to send stuff to the yahoo.com domain. After rolling that number, however, I want it to roll again, but without the previously rolled number, until it has rolled all number except one, which would be the winning number. I have no idea how to go about doing that. Any ideas? EDIT: I'm sorry, I should have been more clear, thank you all for the help so far, but I also need to echo each number rolled, such as echo "$rolledArray[0] was rolled, it lost.\n"; echo "$rolledArray[1] was rolled, it lost.\n"; echo "$rolledArray[2] was rolled, it lost.\n"; echo "$rolledArray[3] was rolled, it lost.\n"; echo "$rolledArray[x] was rolled, it lost.\n"; echo "$rolledArray[x] was rolled, it lost.\n"; echo "$rolledArray[50?] was rolled, it lost."; EDIT AGAIN: Also I only want them to have to click Roll! once, not multiple times until they've rolled all the numbers, meaning no need for session, I think, though I could be wrong, most of you are clearly more experienced than me.   • tmpreaper, --protect and a non-root user

    Hi, I'm a little confused. I have a download directory that I want to remove all files older then 30 days with tmpreaper. Just one problem, the directory in question is a separate partition with a lost+found directory, of course I need to keep it so I added --protect 'lost+found', the problem is that tmpreaper outputs: error: chdir() to directory 'lost+found' (inode 11) failed: Permission denied (PID 30604) Back from recursing down `lost+found'. Entry matching `--protect' pattern skipped. `lost+found' I have tried with other pattern like lost* and so on... I'm running tmpreaper as a non-root user because there is no reason for superuser privileges because I own all files (except lost+found). Are I'm forced to run tmpreaper as root? Or are my shell-skills not as good as I thought? I guess the problem is: tmpreaper will chdir(2) into each of the directories you've specified for cleanup, and check for files matching the <shell_pattern> there. It then builds a list of them, and uses that to protect them from removal. Any thought and/or advice? Edit: The command I'm trying to run is something like $ /usr/sbin/tmpreaper -t --protect 'lost+found' 30d /mydir 1> /dev/null error: chdir() to directory `lost+found' (inode 11) failed: Permission denied Edit 2: I read the source code for tmpreaper-1.6.13 and found this if (safe_chdir (dirname)) exit(1); and if (chdir (dirname)) { message (LOG_ERROR, "chdir() to directory `%s' (inode %lu) failed: %s\n", dirname, (u_long) sb1.st_ino, strerror (errno)); return 1; } So it seems tmpreaper needs to be able to chdir in to all directories, ignored or not. I see two options left Run tmpreaper as root Move the download directory Find a alternative tool (tmpwatch?) I will give it some more research before i make a choice.

  • DDD and Value Objects. Are mutable Value Objects a good candidate for Non Aggr. Root Entity?

    Here is a little problem Have an entity, with a value object. Not a problem. I replace a value object for a new one, then nhibernate inserts the new value and orphan the old one, then deletes it. Ok, that's a problem. Insured is my entity in my domain. He has a collection of Addresses (value objects). One of the addresses is the MailingAddress. When we want to update the mailing address, let's say zipcode was wrong, following Mr. Evans doctrine, we must replace the old object for a new one since it's immutable (a value object right?). But we don't want to delete the row thou, because that address's PK is a FK in a MailingHistory table. So, following Mr. Evans doctrine, we are pretty much screwed here. Unless i make my addressses Entities, so i don't have to "replace" it, and simply update its zipcode member, like the old good days. What would you suggest me in this case? The way i see it, ValueObjects are only useful when you want to encapsulate a group of database table's columns (component in nhibernate). Everything that has a persistence id in the database, is better off to make it an Entity (not necessarily an aggregate root) so you can update its members without recreating the whole object graph, specially if that's a deep-nested object. Do you concur? Is it allowed by Mr. Evans to have a mutable value object? Or is a mutable value object a candidate for an Entity? Thanks

I don't know about the hardware neither, but in which programming language it was written? *I didn't find a detailed biography of John Shepherd-Barron (ATM inventor at 70s) Update I found this picture, which is taken from a newspaper back to the year 1972 in Iran. Translated PS : Shows Mr. Rad-lon (if spelled correctly), The manager of Barros (if spelled correctly) International Educational Institute in United Kingdom at the right, and Mr. Jim Sutherland - Expert of Computer Kiosks. In the rest of the text I found on this paper, these kind of ATMs which called "Automated Computer Kiosk" were advertised with this: Mr. Rad-lon (if spelled correctly) puts his card to one specific location of Automated Computer Kiosk and after 10 seconds he withdraws his cash. Two more questions are: 1- How those ATMs were so fast? (withdrawal in 10 seconds in that year) 2- I didn't find any text on Internet which state about "Automated Computer Kiosk", Is it valid or were they being called Computer in that time?

  • Crypto-Analysis of keylogger logs and config file. Possible?

    Is there anyway Encryption on an unidentified file can be broken(file in question: config file and log files from ardamax keylogger). These files date back all the way to 2008. I searched everywhere, nothing on slashdot, nothing on google. Ardamax Keyviewer? Should I just write to Ardamax? I am at a loss of what to do. I feel comprimised. Anyone managed to decrpyt files with Crypto-analysis? More Information-- There are log files in the folder and a configuration file, "akv.cfg". Is it possible to decrypt the files and maybe getting the attackers email address used to receive the keylogger logs? I've Checked ardamax.com. They have an built-in log viewer. But its unavailable for download. If superuser isn't the proper place to ask, know where I might get help?

  • Why can I browse to localhost, not to my computer name? (IIS7) [closed]

    I'm not very clued up on IIS, but I'm trying to do something that I thought would be quite simple. In IE, if I browse to http://localhost:80, I am greeted with a pretty picture with a bunch of welcome messages and a big "IIS7", thanks to the graphic designers at Microsoft. In IE, if I browse to http://mycomputername:80, I'm greeted with 404. It may be my fault... perhaps I've done something weird. Chrome replies 404 to either of those. Should this work, and if so, what am I doing wrong, or what can I do to get it to work? What might cause this to happen and how can I fix it? EDIT To add a bit more information. I did find after posting this question that http://localhost:80 was the only URL I could access on my local PC. I could not access any of the virtual sub-directories on localhost via my browser.
