• Dumping views with mysqldump in the right order.

  I have a script that backs up our database, which contains multiple tables and views constructed from tables. The command used is: mysqldump -u UserName -ppassword -h hostname DatabaseName dump.sql; I have noticed however that some view definitions are backed up before the definitions of the tables. This causes an issue when restoring using the classic mysql -u UserName -p < dump.sql As when it tries to create the view, the table it needs does not exist yet. It is possible to edit the dump files to be restored, but I was wondering: Is there a way to either make sure that mysqldump backs up the tables and views in the right order? Or is there a way to restore from a dump that will find the right tables to create first (or create sane temporary tables)?   I am trying to properly extract methods definitions that are generated by comtypes for Com Interfaces using a regex. Furthermore some of them are blank which causes even more problems for me. • What does this WCF error mean: "Custom tool warning: Cannot import wsdl:portType"

  I created a WCF service library project in my solution, and have service references to this. I use the services from a class library, so I have references from my WPF application project in addition to the class library. Services are set up straight forward - only changed to get async service functions. Everything was working fine - until I wanted to update my service references. It failed, so I eventually rolled back and retried, but it failed even then! So - updating the service references fails without doing any changes to it. Why?! The error I get is this one: Custom tool error: Failed to generate code for the service reference 'MyServiceReference'. Please check other error and warning messages for details. The warning gives more information: Custom tool warning: Cannot import wsdl:portType Detail: An exception was thrown while running a WSDL import extension: System.ServiceModel.Description.DataContractSerializerMessageContractImporter Error: List of referenced types contains more than one type with data contract name 'Patient' in namespace 'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/MyApp.Model'. Need to exclude all but one of the following types. Remember: I didn't even change anything! Now, the solution to this was found here, but without an explanation to what this means. So; in the "Configure service reference" for the service I uncheck the "Reuse types in the referenced assemblies" checkbox. Rebuilding now it all works fine without problems. But what did I really change? Will this make an impact on my application? And when should one uncheck this? I do want to reuse the types I've set up DataContract on, but no more. Will I still get access to those without this checked?

• PostGIS - can't create spatially-enabled database

  I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, PostgreSQL 9.0 and PostGIS 1.5. I've installed PostGIS 1.5 from: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntugis/+archive/ubuntugis-unstable I used PPA first then the command: sudo apt-get install postgis to install postgis. I've been following these instructions to create a spatially-enabled database: http://ostgis.refractions.net/docs/ch02.html#id2630100 I got to the point where it's saying: Now load the PostGIS object and function definitions into your database by loading the postgis.sql definitions file (located in [prefix]/share/contrib as specified during the configuration step). psql -d [yourdatabase] -f postgis.sql Well, there is no postgis.sql on my server after the installation. I did an sudo updatedb to make sure I can find postgis.sql but it's not there. Any ideas? Thank you!

  My website uses a variety of technologies, such as JQuery, new CSS definitions (e.g., moz-selection, -webkit-user-select), etc. The site works perfectly with Google Chrome and Safari, but has some quirkiness in Firefox, IE, and some of the other browsers. I want to write a script to check for necessary browser features but, with several thousand lines of code and CSS definitions, I'm not certain which features I should be looking for. Is there some sort of online analysis (similar to how JSLint operates) that would tell me which features my script and CSS files need? Are there tools (like FireBug) that provide this info?

  I'm on a shared webhost where I don't have permission to edit the global bash configuration file at /ect/bashrc. Unfortunately there is one line in the global file, mesg y, which puts the terminal in tty mode and makes scp and similar commands unavailable. My local ~./bashrc includes the global file as a source, like so: # Source global definitions if [ -f /etc/bashrc ]; then . /etc/bashrc fi My current workaround uses grep to output the global file, sans offending line, into a local file and use that as a source. # Source global definitions if [ -f /etc/bashrc ]; then grep -v mesg /etc/bashrc > ~/.bash_global . ~/.bash_global fi Is there a way to do include a grepped file like this without the intermediate step of creating an actual file? Something like this? . grep -v mesg /etc/bashrc > ~/.bash_global

• Django multiple generic_inline_formset in a view

  We have a bunch of formsets: EmailAddressInlineFormSet = generic_inlineformset_factory( EmailAddress, extra=1, exclude=["created_by","last_modified_by"]) emailaddressformset = EmailAddressInlineFormSet( instance=person, prefix="emailaddress") # [ more definitions ] and, in the view, we process them as: emailaddressformset = EmailAddressInlineFormSet( request.POST, instance=person, prefix="emailaddress") # [ more definitions ] So, nothing fancy or unordinary. The unfortunate or unordinary fact is, we have 15 of these formsets, one for email addresses, other for phone numbers etc. so the view code is ugly and not-so-manageable. What would be the most unhackish way to handle this number of formsets in a single view? At the end -i guess- I'm looking for a class or a functionality like multiple_generic_inline_formset and open to all kind of suggestions or discussions.

This could be as simple as elems = tree.findall('link[@rel="stylesheet"]') + tree.findall('style') But the problem with CSS style definitions is that the order matters, e.g. <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/media/css/first.css" /> <style>body:{font-size: 10px;}</style> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/media/css/second.css" /> if the contents of the style tag is applied after the rules in the two link tags, the result may be completely different from the one where the rules are applied in order of definition. So, how would I do a lookup that inlcudes both link[@rel="stylesheet"] and style?

• Export and Import MS Access table defenitions as text files

  How can I export/import MS Access table definitions as text files (in a human readable format like I can with Forms or Reports)? I know how I can export the whole table out into CSV file; however: I don't need the data to go (actually really rather that it didn't) When I import a CSV file (especially without data) there's no guarantee that the data types will be the same as my original database. I'm hoping to store my table definitions in a SVN repository. I don't want to have to house any import specifications in the destination database.

  Can someone explain how to define multi column indexes in Grails? The documentation is at best sparse.   R5RS gives proposed macro definitions for library forms of syntax: http://schemers.org/Documents/Standards/R5RS/HTML/r5rs-Z-H-10.html#%_sec_7.3 Which also defines letrec, in a very complicated way, certainly not how I would define it, I would simply use: (define-syntax letrec2 (syntax-rules () ((letrec2 ((name val) ...) body bodies ...) ((lambda () (define name val) ... body bodies ...))))) As far as I understand the semantics of letrec, which I use very often as a named let. It works in this way, however as I've had my fair share of debates with philosophers who think they can just disprove special relativity or established phonological theories, I know that when you think you have a simple solution to a complex problem, it's probably WRONG. There has got to be some point where this macro does not satify the semantics of letrec else they'd probably have used it. In this definition, the definitions are local to the body of the letrec, they can refer to each other for mutual recursion, I'm not quite sure what (if any) is wrong.

I'm trying to get started with java development, and develop 2d games, but I can't get the project to run. • Correct formulation of the A* algorithm

  Hello, I'm looking at definitions of the A* path-finding algorithm, and it seems to be defined somewhat differently in different places. The difference is in the action performed when going through the successors of a node, and finding that a successor is on the closed list. One approach (suggested by Wikipedia, and this article) says: if the successor is on the closed list, just ignore it Another approach (suggested here and here, for example) says: if the successor is on the closed list, examine its cost. If it's higher than the currently computed score, remove the item from the closed list for future examination. I'm confused - which method is correct ? Intuitively, the first makes more sense to me, but I wonder about the difference in definition. Is one of the definitions wrong, or are they somehow isomorphic ?

• How to create a new IDA project based on an existing one with different offsets?

  I have an existing IDA Pro project for a C166 processor embedded application. This project already has many functions, variables, etc defined. There are different versions of the embedded application I am looking at. The different versions of the application are 99% the same, but with slight variations in code and data that cause functions and variables to be at different memory offsets. I want to create a new IDA project for a different version of the application. I would like to somehow import all of my function and variable definitions from my existing IDA project. I would like IDA to recognize the signatures of the existing function definitions and define them at there new location in the new project. How can I do this? Are there certain plugins for IDA I can chain together?

  I'm using SQLAlchemy and I can create tables that I have defined in /model/__init__.py but I have defined my classes, tables and their mappings in other files found in the /model directory. For example I have a profile class and a profile table which are defined and mapped in /model/profile.py To create the tables I run: paster setup-app development.ini But my problem is that the tables that I have defined in /model/__init__.py are created properly but the table definitions found in /model/profile.py are not created. How can I execute the table definitions found in the /model/profile.py so that all my tables can be created? Thanks for the help!

• Unit testing nested subflows (subflows of subflows)

  I'm trying to write unit test for a flow, which has subflow, which, itself, has another subflow. I register first flow using FlowDefinitionResource getResource(FlowDefinitionResourceFactory resourceFactory). Then I register subflow definitions during test execution in FlowDefinitionRegistry before transitioning to them. Transitioning to "first level" subflow goes ok. The result of transitioning to subflow of current subflow - NoSuchFlowDefinitionException. The problem is that subflow definitions are all seem attached to the primary flow of the test and subflow can't be found within another subflow. Is there any way to attach subflow definition to another subflow in tests, which extend AbstractXmlFlowExecutionTests?

• XNA 4 game for both profiles

  I am writing game in XNA 4 and this version have two profiles hi-def and reach. My problem is that I need to have my game code for each of these profiles and is very uncomfortable to have two projects and do all changes in both of them. My idea was to use preprocessor directive (i am not sure about name of this, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ed8yd1ha%28v=vs.71%29.aspx) and use IF statement at places with problems with profile. There is only problem that program needs to be compiled two times (for each profile) and manually changed directive and project settings to another profile. And my questions are: Is that good way? Is there better and cleaner way how to do this?

  So I have to preface that I'm not familiar with tomcat/catalina, but trying to troubleshoot this anyway. Cuando abordamos un desarrollo a medida, estamos pensando únicamente en las necesidades de hoy. Tenemos un proyecto concreto, un determinado alcance funcional y conocemos las herramientas que hoy tenemos disponibles. Somos los que mejor conocemos nuestra empresa de hoy, sus procesos y el desarrollo parece una buena opción, pues las licencias de las herramientas de desarrollo son económicas y el coste de la tarifa diaria de programación es asequible, y entonces, caemos en la trampa del corto plazo y vamos adelante. Es muy posible que este desarrollo salga bien, que estemos orgullosos de nuestro trabajo, e incluso que proclamemos a los 4 vientos el dinero que nos hemos ahorrado. Sin embargo el mundo no se para, el negocio no se para, la adaptación debe ser permanente, nuestros clientes, internos y externos, tendrán nuevas exigencias y nuestro desarrollo no estará terminado, tendremos que integrarlo con otras áreas, tendremos que tratar de darle mayor funcionalidad y alcance, tendremos que adaptarlo a las nuevas tecnologías, permitir que la información se analice, se comparta, se acceda desde nuevos dispositivos … y veremos en primera persona cómo la trampa del desarrollo se cierra sobre nuestras cabezas, nunca estará terminado, la tecnología que usamos un día se quedará obsoleta, el ritmo de exigencia por funcionalidad e integración será cada vez mayor y no podremos sino poner más y más recursos dedicados al mantenimiento de un desarrollo propio, que no deja de comer, que me obliga a gastar más y más cada día y del que no puedo salir. Al poco tiempo me he convertido en una empresa de desarrollo de software dentro de mi propia empresa y ni tengo los recursos económicos para hacerlo viable, ni tengo las capacidades humanas y de inversión para responder a lo que se me exige desde el negocio. Así que pensemos, desde el principio, en que nuestra empresa debe perdurar muchos años, y hagamos el análisis de costes bajo esta perspectiva a la hora de tomar la decisión y veremos entonces que la adquisición de un ERP es mucho más económica que el desarrollo a medida. Por otro lado tenemos la integración. Un sistema de producción, requiere la asignación de recursos, que a su vez requieren de un plan de desarrollo, una formación o un cálculo de su nómina; también requiere de una cuenta contable, de una gestión de compras o de una asignación de costes y claro,de todos estos puntos nos vamos dando cuenta sobre la marcha, cuando en un sistema de gestión integral (ERP) lo tenemos disponible desde el primer momento. Claro que no nos vale un ERP cerrado, poco flexible y que no me permita diferenciar a mi empresa. Tenemos que buscar un socio tecnológico que nos acompañe, que asuma la inversión en tecnología y que me vaya suministrando versiones y soluciones acordes a las exigencias de los tiempos, de hoy y de mañana, pero además que me permita adaptar los flujos e innovar en los procesos para que podamos diferenciar nuestra empresa de la competencia, hoy y mañana. Veremos cómo, con la decisión de un ERP, flexible y abierto, los números salen y en el largo plazo es mucho más económica la decisión de adquirir un ERP que de optar por el desarrollo.
