• Can we have some "coming soon" text in our app? Will Apple reject it? [closed]

  We're getting ready to push our app live. There's some functionality that's not ready yet; it's accessory, not crucial to the user, but it does provide some interesting context. If I have a button with the name of the feature (e.g., "Panoramic Views") and a "COMING SOON" label stuck over it, will Apple reject the submission? What if instead of a button it's just a text label somewhere announcing "Panoramic Views coming soon!"? I've seen some material online saying that "coming soon" is a no-no but all I could find in Apple's guidelines themselves was 2.9, "Apps that are "beta", "demo", "trial", or "test" versions will be rejected". Which is certainly not the case! Thanks in advance, any help greatly appreciated.

• Programming tourism

  I'm going on vacation to Paris, France for 10 days. Actually, it's my girlfriend's wish to go there but I'm not very interested in visiting, sightseeing, etc. Recently, I came up with an idea of trying to do something like programming tourism. :) I'd like to do something related to programming in a startup-like company. I do not want a salary or any kind of compensation. I want to overview process, social aspects, environment and "what it feels like" to development software in another country. I'm from Russia. I've been a software developer since 2003. I prefer C#4 but I'm ready to use anything Turing-complete. I have some MS certifications and am familiar with all .NETs since 1.1. Currently I'm finishing PhD in CS. I'm interested in multidimensional indexing and I can turn any piece of data and code to OLAP system. :) But it'd take too much time. What can I do? I have no more than one week. I want a totally complete project in a short amount of time. Implement some features in well-tested project Do a code review Debug memory, performance and concurrency issues Do unit testing So, about the questions: Is it legal? I'm ready to sign NDA if it's necessary. I'll have tourist visa. Is it possible? I'm really sure that bureaucratic companies with lots of HRs and PMs will not allow such experiments. But small companies can afford it. I'm ready to guarantee support on my code after leaving home :) P.S. I still havn't started learning French :) I hope it will not take too much time :) P.P.S. Yes, it's girlfriend-approved. What's in it for me? It's fun. It's fun to see new systems and people who created them. It's fun to complete meaningful things. Quickly. What's in it for them? Feature, debug, review or test. If my short-term colleagues will like this style of working I can invite them to make same trip into my company :) I think in Russia it's even more exciting :)

• Finding out why Dell Controler is Degraded

  I installed open manage on a couple of my PE 2950s for snmp monitoring of the RAID. Can anyone tell if I am missing something or neglecting something import in my RAID monitoring/understanding? I get degraded for both these servers I have set up. • mysqld-nt.exe exist in task list, but actually it's not running?

  mysqld-nt.exe is showing in the task manager, but I cannot connect to it. I tried: telnet localhost 3306 And it fails to connect. So I restarted the server,and it's ok. This happens every day. • MySQL password changed every other day in windows?

  Every morning when I check server status,I will find MySQL's password is changed: mysql -uuser -ppassword will report ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'user'@'localhost' (using password: YES) And then I restart server,and when it's up,MySQL will be back to normal. • computer freezes but music continues

  Recently I have had a problem where my computer will freeze completely but if I happen to be streaming Pandora in a tab that will continue playing. If I wait about 2-5 minutes it will eventually come back and start working normally. I also noticed that during the period that it is unresponsive that the HDD activity light stays lit the whole time, not flashing. I've ran memtest86+ and a diagnostic from Western Digital for my HDD model and none of them reported any errors. • Have a child window be notified when parent window goes to a different page?

  i have a parent window and a child window. in javascript, i want a function in child window to be called whenever the parent window loads a new page. i'd like to use something similar to jQuery's $(document).ready() so that I don't have to worry about whether the parent is done loading yet - but ready() only appears to fire when the window loads the first page - but not when, say, a link is clicked in the parent and it loads a second page. any suggestions? thanks.
