• What is cloudfront.net and what does it do?

  I frequently have messages like this in my websites error log: "Script error.". URL: https://e3m4drct5m1ays.cloudfront.net/items/loaders /loader_21.js?pid=21&systemid=13504281c5a501837196c23300f84e66&aoi=1327214632& zoneid=16620&cid=HK&rid=Hong%20Kong%20(general)&ccid=Kowloon&dma=0. Line number: 0 Error name: Stack: Now I don't actually know what cloudfront is or what it does. And I do not refer to this script in my site. So why would I be getting js error logged as if it was a script being run on my own site? This is using elmah logging.

• initial Class design: access modifiers and no-arg constructors

  Context: Student working through Class design in personal/side project for Summer. I've never written anything implemented by others or had to maintain code. Trying to maximize encapsulation and imagining what would make code easy to maintain. Concept: Tight/Loose Class design where Tight and Loose refer to access modifiers and constructors. Tight: initially, everything, including setters, is private and a no-arg constructor is not provided (only a full constructor). Loose: not Tight Exceptions: the obvious like toString Reasoning: If code, at the very beginning, is tight, then it should be guaranteed that changes, with respect to access/creation, should never damage existing implementations. The loosening of code happens incrementally and must be thought through, justified, and safe (validated). Benefit: Existing implementing code should not break if changes are made later. Cost: Takes more time to create. Since this is my own thinking, I hope to get feedback as to whether I should push to work this way. Good idea or bad idea?

  I have a script, and now it's the perfect time to have an option to change theme templates. I was looking forward to store these files in php files, or html files. with CSS file. I looked over some codes and I found that they use brackets to refer to the variable. Here's an example of a template block: <div class='block_div'> <center>{title}</center> {content} </div> I know that I can use PHP vars usering <?=$var;?>. However, I think the one above is better, and I looked over the web to find anything about it but I couldn't. My Question is how I can use these brackets in my php or html code. to let the user changing the template only not the code!

• Is it legal to modify MIT licensed code and sell it?

  I have a project and I want to use a ready-made script that is licensed under MIT in it. But using this script separately will be redundant. So I've decided to merge my code and the MIT licensed script in the same file. (Let's say I'll modify, improve and/or add new features to it.) I'm planning to sell this work on a market, but is it fair (legally)? NOTE: Meanwhile, I'll put (refer) the MIT licensed script's copyright already in the final file.

• Cannot connect to windows share

  I've been going through and pouring over resource for the past few hours and I cannot get my box to connect to my friends network drive. My friend doesn't use linux, but he's setup the network share like this: DPR:\\name\images and he's given me the username and password which I've verified is correct. It is located on 192.168.0.2 sudo mount -t cifs -o username=***,password=*** //name/images /media/name/ sudo mount.cifs //192.168.0.2/name/images /media/name/ -o credentials=~/name.credentials (I've confirmed that ~/name.credentials does have the correct credentials as well) Regardless of what I attempt I get mount error(13): Permission denied Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it's probably really simple and stupid. Thanks to any/all in advance. EDIT: I don't know if this helps, but I'm running Ubuntu 14.04.

• Sharing samba-folder with root access

  Hi everyone, I have a staging server in my network running Ubuntu server 10.10, being my main development area. As I need to access the files in the Apache root from other computers in the network, I have setup samba with the following settings: [www] comment = Apache root www path = /var/www writable = yes force user = root force group = root On the host computer, running Ubuntu 10.10 desktop, I am trying to mount the drive with a bash file looking like below: #!/bin/bash sudo mount -t cifs //192.168.1.5/www /media/www/ -o username=myusername,password=mypassword,rw,iocharset=utf8,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 What happens is that I get mount error(13): Permission denied Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) thrown in my face whilst trying to execute the mount. I've done exactly the same, with exactly the same smb.conf & mount-bash file on another computer in my network, but this just wont work. What am I doing wrong? I am running out of ideas.

  I have a school project to build an AI for a 2D racing game in which it will compete with several other AIs (no collision). We are given a black and white bitmap image of the racing track, we are allowed to choose basic stats for our car (handling, acceleration, max speed and brakes) after we receive the map. The AI connects to the game's server and gives to it several times a second numbers for the current acceleration and steering. The language I chose is C++, by the way. The questions are: What is the best strategy or algorithm (since I want to try and win)? I currently have in mind some ideas found on the net and one or two of my own, but I would like before I start to code that my perspective is one of the best. What good books are there on that matter? What sites should I refer to?

  E-Business Suite 11.5.10 Sustaining Support Exception & 12.1 Extended Support Now to Dec. 2018 [ID 1495337.1] As part of Oracle’s continued commitment to our customers, we will be providing an exception for the first 13 months of Sustaining Support on Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.10 (11i10), valid from December 1, 2013 – December 31, 2014. This exception support will be comprised of three components: (1) new fixes for Severity 1 production issues, (2) United States Form 1099 2013 year-end updates, and (3) payroll regulatory updates for the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia for fiscal years ending in 2014.  In addition, the Extended Support period for E-Business Suite Release 12.1 has been extended through December, 2018. Customers with an active Oracle Premier Support for Software contract will automatically be entitled to Extended Support deliverables for E-Business Suite 12.1. The same question for algorithms http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_algorithm_general_topics ?... What's after learning algorithms and data structures? Specializing in a certain field of algorithms such as computer graohics, memory management...etc? or what could be the plan for mastering programming after knowing the language syntax and the background about program design and programming logic? I asked about wikipedia because i would like to find a complete resource or are least a resource which would be enough for the field of data structures instead of searching for separate articles in different places in other words an alternative to books which may even be more complete.

  I'm having some trouble finding a proper solution to the following architecture problem. In our setting (sketched below) we have 2 data sources, where data source A is the primary source for items of type Foo. A secondary data source exists which can be used to retrieve additional information on a Foo; however this information does not always exist. Furthermore, data source A can be used to retrieve items of type Bar. However, each Bar refers to a Foo. The difficulty here is that each Bar should refer to a Foo which, if available, also contains the information as augmented by data source B. My question is: how to remove the tight coupling between data source A and B?

  With release 12.2.4 for non-referenced RMAs, Order Management will allow you to configure the model from Sales Order / Quick Sales Order windows. This is only allowable when profile  OM: Enable Configuration UI for RMA is set to Yes.  All selected options must be returnable, as well as all included items. Order Management explodes included items and creates options and option classes in a way similar to outbound orders. The application creates all selected components with same line number but different option/component number.  Additionally, the application does not allow re-configuration and/or deletion of any line if any line in the same configuration is received, fulfilled, closed, cancelled, or split. What do you need to do and where are the official patch requirements?   I have the need to store random contents (on my local hard drive/ laptop hard drive) for personal use so I can look these contents up later on when I need them. What I mean by random content is one of the following: Some sort of code Random fact Css / html / Javascript tips Or anything I might find interesting and want to keep for future reference I want to look up these entries by tags, the software should give me the ability to associate every entry with one tag or more. I have been having difficult time find applications offer this functionality, it is like a local database with search ability and easy data-entry methods. I can build one, but I don't have the time to invest in doing so. Can you refer me to any application/software that can do that, it would be great. It does not matter if it is paid or free.

• Are there similarities between operating system kernels and programming language kernels?

  I know very little about Smalltalk but I noticed that there's a frequent mention of the "kernel". Dan Ingalls prime maintainer of several implementations of Smalltalk also worked on a Javascript environment called "Lively Kernel" and in Peter Siebel's book he kept mentionning the "kernel". I cannot help but think that it is no coincidence that the creators of Smalltalk used the name of a (central) part of operating systems to refer to a particular component of their language. Was it because Smalltalk intended to act as an operating system? Was it because theory behind programming languages and operating systems have a lot in common? What is the reason behind the common appelation of the two components?

Some examples can be http://www.addgoogleurl.com/ and webdirectorieslist.com, etc. I was talking with my colleague and he says, adding the URL of my website to these kind of websites will negate the effect of other organic real links. Does google consider positive/negative points for these kind of links from web directory websites? Do you have any source for your answer to refer to? • Domain held at one registry, need to redirect to subdomain on my own hosting provider

  Hi, There are lots of questions around this general area, but I haven't seen one that exactly mirrors what I'd like to know. It's per the title really. My understanding (and what I'm told by my host) is the easiest thing is just to get the transfer key and bring the DNS across to my own hosting provider. Also I'm told by my host this doesn't affect the client's ownership of the domain itself. Basically, I have a subdomain setup with the site (this has the same IP address as the top level domain). So presumably just giving the other registrar that IP address will only refer it only to the TLD rather than the subdomain. What's the easiest way to achieve this? It's an asp.net site, I don't have a hosted directory on the client's account where I can code a redirect. Thanks all Mark

• smbmount returns "operation not permitted"

  I use the smbfs tools package to mount my SMB shares. I wrote a quick script to mount the share: #!/bin/sh /usr/bin/smbmount "\\\\somehost.local\\hostshare" /media/hostshare -o user=smbuser,dom=WORKGROUP,uid=localuser,gid=localgroup This script used to work in 9.10 when called by the "localuser" account, but in my fresh-installed 10.04 it fails giving me the error: mount error(1): Operation not permitted Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) The /media/hostshare directory is empty and has these perms: drwxrwxr-x 2 localuser localgroup 4096 2010-12-12 12:04 hostshare/ The "localuser" is in these groups: localgroup adm dialout cdrom plugdev lpadmin admin sambashare Any idea what is going on here? Google seems to suggest that the "sticky" bit needs to be set on /sbin/mount.cifs /sbin/mount.smbfs and /sbin/umount.cifs Is this a bug?

• Should I change the name in the WTFPL?

  I'm using the WTFPL in my personal projects published on GitHub. Currently I'm using it verbatim, but I have the suspicion I shouldn't be leaving Copyright (C) 2004 Sam Hocevar <[email protected]> in there, and instead should use my name. But the license is very confusing about this. Half of the WTFPL is about the WTFPL itself, so I thought that copyright might refer to a copyright on the license text itself, and not on the project this is licensing. Also, it says Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim or modified copies of this license document, and changing it is allowed as long as the name is changed. So would I have to change the name, from WTFPL to, say, "WTFPL-Domenic"?

• What grammatical tense should I write my specifications in?

  We are currently writing functional and technical specifications in a two column format; summary sentence and technical detail. The details often refer to an appendix with diagrams, layout designs ect. However I am struggling with what tense to write it in: With past tense as if the work is done I struggle to show highlight extensions of exiting work. Future tense as in it needs to do X starts to sound like a to do list or Tense neutral very hard as it has either going to be done or is done. To add further confusion this specification may be read by people who do not have English as a first language.

• Will URL encoding the image names

  Just wondering if it makes any difference to Google whether or not I URL encode the image names when linking to them. For example if I have an image named "test-1234-!.jpg", does it make a difference if I name it refer to it as "test-1234-%21.jpg"? The reason I am asking is because I am doing a major shift in the way my website works and while all new image names will not be URL encoded, all of the past ones are. I want to see if it is worth it renaming all of them or if I should just leave it like that.
