I have been using "int" data type and doing increment by one on inserts. Is there any particular benefits to using the uniqueIdentifier data type compared to my current model of using int and auto increments on new inserts ?

• How can I create a shortcut to uninstall MyApplication using the Visual Studio Installer?

  I have created an installer for MyApplication using the Visual Studio Installer (VSI) Setup Project. I would like to create a shortcut in the user's Start Menu to uninstall MyApplication (instead of having to go through the Add/Remove Programs control panel). I cannot simply create a batch/script file to run the command "msiexec /uninstall {MyGUID}" because, although it does succeed in running the uninstaller, when the uninstall completes the program folder (wherever the user has chosen to install the app) does not get deleted. It stays empty. How can I create a shortcut that can uninstall the program but not leave behind an empty program folder?

  We are using Visual Studio 2008 and would like to know if there is a way to create a (keyboard or toolbar) shortcut for the 'View in Browser'-command, but with a specific page from a specific (loaded) project. We always start testing/debugging our app from "Somepage.aspx" from "Project-x". I would like to make a shortcut that does 'View in Browser' with this specific page/file, from this specific project. So even if I am currently working on another file in another project (from the same solution) it should still work... Anybody know if this is possible, and if so, how this can be achieved? Thanks!   xte is part of the xautomation package. After hours of man page reading and looking for documentation or working examples, I still cannot get xte to emulate a Fn-F7 keypress. xte 'keydown Meta_L' 'key F7' 'keyup Meta_L' I've tried Meta_L, Meta_R, Multi_key, key F7, keydown F7 then keyup F7. No combination seems to work. Any idea how I can emulate a combination key press with a Fn key from a command/script?

So wherever key 'data' exists in array1 it gets added to array2 with the exact depth (and key names) as in array1 AND without modifying any other keys. How can I do this recursively?

  I want to get involved with Ubuntu and I've decided to join the Bug Squad. Launchpad tells me that I have to some OpenPGP Fingerprint key, and I followed instructions from this link: https://launchpad.net/+help-registry/openpgp-keys.html#publish All goes fine, I enter all the necessary information, and it starts generating the key. After about 20 seconds of generating the key, it gives an error saying "Couldn't generate PGP key: General Error." What does this mean? How can I fix this?

• Still prompted for a password after adding SSH public key to a server

  I'm attempting to setup a git repository on my Dreamhost web server by following the "Setup: For the Impatient" instructions here. I'm having difficulty setting up public key access to the server. After successfully creating my public key, I ran the following command: cat ~/.ssh/[MY KEY].pub | ssh [USER]@[MACHINE] "mkdir ~/.ssh; cat >> ~/.ssh/authorized_keys" ...replacing the appropriate placeholders with the correct values. Everything seemed to go through fine. The server asked for my password, and, as far as I can tell, executed the command. There is indeed a ~/.ssh/authorized_keys file on the server. The problem: When I try to SSH into the server, it still asks for my password. My understanding is that it shouldn't be asking for my password anymore. What am I missing?   I'm just (re)starting playing around with Rails and I'm making a little card game app. I cannot seem to figure out my Foreign Key setups. Say I have 4 objects: - Game - Player - Hand - Card A Game has many Players, which have many Hands which have many Cards. But the cards are also independent of a Hand, Player and Game. For example, I have 6 Cards in my database (1 to 6). It is possible that Card 3 could be in 2 Players Hands in the same Game. How can I set up my keys for this? Should I just create another object for "CardInHand" to simplify it?

  Hello, I'm attempting to write a script to generate SSH Identity key pairs for me. from M2Crypto import RSA key = RSA.gen_key(1024, 65337) key.save_key("/tmp/my.key", cipher=None) The file /tmp/my.key looks great now. By running ssh-keygen -y -f /tmp/my.key > /tmp/my.key.pub I can extract the public key. My question is how can I extract the public key from python?   I am looking for a key/value type datastore with very specific requirements. Anyone know anything that will work? Needs to be a component of some sort. No additional installation needed. The datastore needs to be on the local hard drive. I am using VB.Net for a desktop app running Windows XP through 7 so it needs to callable by that environment. It needs to replicatable. If I have four copies of my app running on the network, each local copy of the datastore needs to replicate with the others. As close to real time as possible. The first three are easy, I can do that with ADO.Net out of the box. The last one, replication, is the one I do not have answer to. Does such an animal exist? Thanks, Brad

In some part of my code I need something like this: $product_type = $product->type; $price_field = 'field_'.$product_type.'_price'; $price = $product->$$price_field; In other words I need kind of KVC - means get object field by field name produced at the runtime. I simply need to extend some existing system and keep field naming convention so do not advice me to change field names instead. I know something like this works for arrays, when you could easily do that by: $price = $product[$price_field_key]. So I can produce key for array dynamically. But how to do that for objects? Please help me as google gives me river of results for arrays, etc... Thank you

  I'm building a web application where the front end is a highly-specialized search engine. Searching is handled at the main URL, and the user is passed off to a sub-directory when they click on a search result for a more detailed display. This hand-off is being done as a GET request with the primary key being passed in the query string. I seem to recall reading somewhere that exposing primary keys to the user was not a good idea, so I decided to implement reversible encryption. I'm starting to wonder if I'm just being paranoid. The reversible encryption (base64) is probably easily broken by anybody who cares to try, makes the URLs very ugly, and also longer than they otherwise would be. Should I just drop the encryption and send my primary keys in the clear?

• Creating a unique key based on file content in python

  I got many, many files to be uploaded to the server, and I just want a way to avoid duplicates. Thus, generating a unique and small key value from a big string seemed something that a checksum was intended to do, and hashing seemed like the evolution of that. So I was going to use hash md5 to do this. But then I read somewhere that "MD5 are not meant to be unique keys" and I thought that's really weird. • Violation of primary key constraint, multiple users

  Lets say UserA and UserB both have an application open and are working with the same type of data. UserA inserts a record into the table with value 10 (PrimaryKey='A'), UserB does not currently see the value UserA entered and attempts to insert a new value of 20 (PrimaryKey='A'). What I wanted in this situation was a DBConcurrencyException, but instead what I have is a primary key violation. I understand why, but I have no idea how to resolve this. What is a good practice to deal with such a circumstance? I do not want to merge before updating the database because I want an error to inform the user that multiple users updated this data.

  I have a new laptop, It has the icon for toggling the touchpad on fn+f1 so I would like to assign this shortcut, I have a working script, and I can assign the script to any other combination, but it appears that ubuntu does not pick up the fn+f1 combination? how can I correct this? The other one is, My laptop has three extra buttons, Assist, Web, and Vaio. These map to Help, Homepage, and nothing respectively. the Web button is working perfectly. The assist button if I am setting up a keyboard shortcut for something it binds fine, but then pressing it does nothing? The Vaio button seems to not be listened to much like the combination I posted above. How can i correct the assist and Vaio buttons?

  I would like to configure a keyboard shortcut for a particular folder in my Desktop. I will be using this folder quite often and is there a way to open them with a custom keyboard shortcut ? The remote thing I came across regarding this is this question which is for opening home folder similar to Windows, but I do not want to go to home folder and navigate from there all the way to a folder in the Desktop (mouse clicking the desktop folder is way too easier than this method). • xubuntu keyboard application shortcuts not working

  I am using the latest Xubuntu 13.04 with Xfce 4.10. I have issues while setting "Application Shortucts' from 'Settings Manager Keyboard Application Shortcuts'. Not all custom keyboards shortcuts, which I have added, work. Some do, some don't. Example the command 'xdotool key XF86AudioPause' works perfect from cmdline, but not when I assign this as a shortcut to some key, say 'F11'. Have tried to Google about this, but found nothing. Kindly help. If possible, kindly provide me a cmdline way to set a keyboard shortcut
