• Is it possible to rewrite some query strings to HTTPS and keep everything else on HTTP?

  I'm rewriting query strings to pretty URIs, example: index.php?q=/en/contact becomes /en/contact and all works nicely.. # httpd.conf # HANDLE THE QUERY RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA] Is it even possible to rewrite single queries to force https and force everything else onto http? I've tried many different approaches that typically end in infinate loops. I could write a plugin to do this in PHP but figured it would be more effecient to handle this in the server conf. I'd be greatful for any advice. EDIT: To clarify, I'd like to be able to rewrite the non SSL http://example.com/index.php?q=/en/contact to the SSL enabled https://example.com/en/contact and every query that is not /en/contact get written to http://example.com/...

• How to rewrite using htaccess if the file exists in another folder?

  We are trying to rewrite to another folder if the file does not exist in the document root, but does exist in the other folder. The other folder is in a completely different location, which is located using "Alias" in the vhosts. So, what we have so far (from this post How to rewrite URI from root if file exists in folder?) is: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/legacy/ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ legacy/$1 [QSA,L] This works to an extent, but seems to direct everything to the legacy folder, not just when the file doesn't exist in the first location and does exist in legacy. • NGINX rewrite rules help. Redirect not working and want to get rid of index.php in urls

  hey! I have 2 questions for nginx users. 1) I'm trying to setup my joomla server onto my new linode running NGINX and after much (like days) of searching and testing, I finally have a config that works with with SEF url plugins...sorta. I was using an apache system on the old server and it used mod_rewrite and life was fine in terms of SEF. Since NGINX doesn't have mod_rewrite, I found something that works BUT it constantly leaves index.php in the urls. ex: http://mysite.com/index.php/forum i want it to be just http://mysite.com/forum but without mod_rewrite it doesn't seem to be possible in joomla that i'm aware of. I know in wordpress it IS possible but I have to use a plugin. I want to use the same config I posted above and have either mysite.com or www.mysite.com both forward to mysite.com/portal. Basically when you hit up the front page with or without the www, it all gets forwarded to a sub directory on the server I called Portal. I have tried several variations of: rewrite ^/(.*) http://www.example.com/portal/$1 permanent; but it usually ends with firefox telling me there is some crazy loop happening the address bar saying something like mysite.com/portalportalportalportalportal.........on and on. So, any help on either of these issues would be awesome!! Thanks!!

  I would like to rewrite requests to http://www.mysite.com/foo to http://foo.mysite.com without the user's address bar changing. Using IIRF I can do the rewrite, but only if I use the [R] modifier flag which makes the rewrite a redirect. Is there a way for me to transparently rewrite requests to a subdomain? • "Run As Administrator" on program right click failing and not launching program

  This problem lies within a relatively fresh x64 Windows 7 install ~4 weeks, but is also a problem I have seen on Windows Vista machines (x86 versions). Since the other day, any programs attempted to be launched via right clicking on a shortcut (.lnk)'s context menu and pressing - "Run As Administrator" for instance, in the Quick Launch/Jump List in Windows 7 has failed, screen has not dimmed, no UAC popup. In fact the program does not even load. There is no way around this unless I use the shortcut version from "All Programs" which appears to work, very strange? I have performed no major software installs, nothing out of the ordinary. Has anybody encountered this or know what would be causing it?   Hi, I just signed up for the iPhone Developer Program (the $99 one), I filled it all out, was directed to the store and completed the purchase. However, when I go to the member center it says I have not completed the purchase: Your Developer Program Enrollment Status: Once you've completed your purchase, you will receive an Order Acknowledgement email from the Apple Online Store and an Activation email within 24 hours from Apple Developer Support. The email from Apple Developer Support will contain information on how to access the resources of your Program. With a link directing me to a page that adds the program to my cart in the Apple store. (A process I have already been through with a success message at the end) Is this what has happened to everyone else? Aren't I supposed to receive an email from Apple at least confirming the purchase? I have received nothing. Thanks a lot.

  In Windows 7, applications should be installed to "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" depending on whether they are 64-bit or 32-bit (respectively, as per this page). Is there an easy way to check that all the applications on my system are in the correct Program Files directory? To put it another way, is an easy way to detect any 32-bit applications in "Program Files" and 64-bit applications in "Program Files (x86)"?

Is this to say that: If the rewrite pattern matches, process the rewrite (rewrite to target) but do not process any of the other rules in the location block, and process all other (cache, proxy, etc) directives in the location block? My code in the lobster project is PHP with the CodeIgniter framework. Trying to load http://lobster.dev:81/ gives me: 400 Bad Request Normally, I'd go check my logs to see what caused it, yet my logs are empty! I looked in both /private/var/log/apache2/error_log and /private/var/log/apache2/lobster_error, and neither records ANY message relating to the 400. I have LogLevel set to debug in /private/etc/apache2/http.conf. Removing the rewrite rules gets rid of the error, but these same rules work on my MAMP host. I've double-checked and rewrite_module is loaded in my default Apache installation. My http.conf can be found here: https://gist.github.com/1057091 What gives? Let me know if you need any additional info. NOTE: I do NOT want to add the rewrite rules to .htaccess in the project directory (it's checked into a git repo and I don't want to touch it).

My colleague wants to write a Java program that uploads that flat file to a remote server, opens the desktop program when the flat file is downloaded from a Web site, and checks if the desktop program is running or not by looking at the Windows processes. He keeps calling this helper/utility program a "wrapper." But it doesn't wrap anything! I tried to clear it up with him, but he said, "Well, I call it a wrapper." He now has everyone in the company calling it a "wrapper." What would you call it? I say that it's a helper program or utility program.

  I need to do a 301 rewrite to force all urls to become lowercase. I put in .htaccess (RewriteMap lc int:tolower in httpd.conf): RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} [A-Z] RewriteRule . ${lc:{REQUEST_URI}} [R=301,L] Everything works just fine except to urls with subcategories which in this case are: /category-1256-Product-page-example.html The numer 1256 refers to a “subcategory”. So when i try to access /category-1256-Product-page-example.html gives me a loop error message. I think another redirect rules are making the loop but dunno how to fix it because are just this urls rewrite rules that don't work with the above rewrite. • Why does 64-bit Windows need a separate "Program Files (x86)" folder?

  I know that on a 64-bit version of Windows the "Program Files" folder is for 64-bit programs and the "Program Files (x86)" folder is for 32-bit programs, but why is this even necessary? By "necessary", I don't mean "why could Microsoft not have made any other design decisions?" because of course they could have. Rather, I mean, "why, given the current design of 64-bit Windows, must 32-bit programs have a separate top-level folder from 64-bit programs?" There are plenty of questions on Super User and elsewhere that assert "one is for 32-bit programs, one is for 64-bit programs", but none that I can find give the reason. From my experience, it doesn't seem to matter whether a 32-bit program is installed in the correct place or not. Does Windows somehow present itself differently to a program running out of "Program Files (x86)"? Is there a description that shows exactly what's different for a program installed in "Program Files (x86)" instead of "Program Files"? I think it's unlikely that Microsoft would introduce a new folder without a legitimate technical reason.

• Install Windows 8 on SSD and Program & Users on HDD

  I have been dealing with a few problems while installing Windows 8 on my computer. On my old configuration, I had Windows 7 installed on my 60Go SSD, and my programs and user data on my 1To HDD, thanks to relative links. Yet, while installing Windows 8 on my SSD, he made a small partition on my HDD "System related". Plus, I'm afraid using only links is a bit cheap, and I saw lots of people messing with their registry when trying to put user data on another drive. I read a lot about optimizing Windows 8 for SSD, putting Users on another drive, and very similar situation that didn't quite correspond to what I was trying to achieve. Here's what I tried : http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/4275-user-profiles-relocate-another-partition-disk.html Booting on Audit mode and using an XML to relocate Users didn't work as the specified version in the file is a test one, and I don't what to enter if I'm using the last release. Booting with the install DVD in repair mode to do a copy of the User and create a relative link, resulting in an error on the logon screen while entering my password saying that "The profile can't be load" (average translation of my error from french to english) Do anyone know how to do a clean separated install of Windows 8, with OS on a drive, and the other data on a second one ? When compiled and ran it printed out another program formatted in a different Japanese character, then another, then finally it printed out the first again.
