    I had Ubuntu 8.10. I upgrade it to 9.04. I have Openerp5.0 server/client/web. It worked on 8.10 but not with 9.04. Now when I try to launch my server using: ./openerp-server.py I have this error: ERROR: Import xpath module ERROR: Try to install the old python-xml package It seems that this version of openerp doesn't work with python2.6. Can I redirect openerp to use old version of Python?

Among the three buttons, close was moved to the far left. Close is below Applications and above File. You have to look to the close button to close Windows now. Why?

  • Ubuntu 10.04 boot splash screen and themes broken

    I recently upgraded to the release candidate of Ubuntu 10.04. Since then, two problems have occurred and persisted: the boot splash screen has reduced down to a black screen with random color blocks/text/gibberish at the top; and the themes are broken, as in the light themes have checkboxes in menus the same color as the background, and the dark themes don't correctly change the font colors in the top menu. Help? On a side note, is there a need to upgrade from 10.04 RC to LTS?

  • Dell Inspiron 1501 no wired/wireless w/12.04 or13.04

    I don't know what to do. Every install of either 13.04 and 12.04 on my Dell does not have a working wired or wireless internet connection. However, if I am running from USB in the trial mode I have working internet through a wired connection using the same ethernet cord. I honestly at this point do not know what I can do to fix this issue as I have gone through every possible fix I have found here and in other places.

    Background: I switched from default driver to Nvidia-319-recommended. I am guessing that this update has caused issues with Keyboard shortcuts, battery status icon disappearing as well as power management issues as speculated by others. Closing laptop lid no longer suspends laptop - It has to be manually done by licking 'suspend' before closing lid. Question: How do you restore the original/default graphics driver?   • Ubuntu 8.04 server is not retaining a static IP address

    I recently setup a linux box running Ubuntu 8.04 (to match another server with 8.04). I need to insure that this box has a static IP address and I changed /etc/network/interfaces to set up the static IP address and when I run sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart it works fine for a while, but always reverts back to 10.0.1.24 after being idle for a while. I also tried stopping/removing the dhcp client, but that didn't help. sudo /etc/init.d/dhcp stop sudo apt-get remove dhcp3-client Here is my /etc/init.d/networking: # The loopback network interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback # The primary network interface auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 10.0.1.4 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 10.0.1.255 gateway 10.0.1.1 Any thoughts?   • Ubuntu - changing another users file permissions

    I have setup Ubuntu as a development web server - however I am experiencing problems with file permissions. I have 2 users, user1 and user2, and they both have been put into the group www-data. I have uploaded a new file with user1 so the file is owned by user1 and the www-data group. At present if user2 wants to modify the permissions on that file to say 777 - they cannot. Is there a way to allow any users within a group to be able to modifiy permissions etc.. on this file? I have tried changing umask to 002 and a few other combinations that were suggested without luck.

  • No sound (USB speakers) in Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope

    I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 and have been unable to get sound functioning. I have a set of USB speakers (not USB powered with a stereo plug... they are totally USB). I've tried plugging them directly into the tower as well as into the USB port on my Dell 2405FPW monitor. Both USB ports are functioning correctly (I tested by sticking a flash drive in there - they both read it), and the speakers are functioning correctly in Windows. If it's relevant, I have an SB Audigy 2 sound card that came with the computer, but is not being used. Any ideas? Thanks! EDIT: These are the speakers - Logitech S-150 USB Speakers

    I have setup pptpd as my VPN server on Ubuntu Server 9.04, I am able to connect to the VPN from the client and can access the server's local network, but I am unable to connect to the external network via the VPN. I have tested that I can save 4GB to ram disk at most. Why exactly 4GB? Where did the computer get this number from? And what happens when I don't use that ram disk for a while and when the directory /media/ramdisk is empty? Does it mean that my system can use whole 8GB ram? And what happens when the system runs out of ram? Will the most rarely used things be moved to swap? And should I turn of swap if I think my system will never need it? Will turning off the swap make my computer faster? And can I even remove the swap partition? And will the hibernation work correctly then?

  • Error burning DVD using Devede on Ubuntu 9.04

    I'm trying to burn a DVD in DeVeDe under ubuntu -- on my computer it's already in DVD format (a VIDEO_TS folder) but when I try and drag it into DeVeDe it says "Some files weren't video files. None added." From looking at it, all the files look like they belong there, just from doing this a few times already and seeing all the files contained in a DVD. The file extensions in the folder are: VOB BUP IFO and the files are all named like VTS_02_1.VOB. I have tried excluding the IFO files when dragging them into DeVeDe but get the same error. Is the problem in the types of files in the DVD data or is the DVD corrupt?

    Hi, Running Ubuntu 10.04 in one office and we want a couple of Mac's in another office to be able to connect to shares on this computer. Want a fairly simple solution to this if one exists. Started looking at setting up a VPN using PPTP but it seems quite complicated. Also seen mention of VNC but this seems more related to sharing desktops and all i want to do is share a directory. Could i just install open SSH and have the Mac users mount a share over SSH using public/private key encryption?
