The procedure is meant to be the "ultimate" index information procedure, providing lots of information about all indexes in a database or all indexes for a certain table.   • What is a good way to test demand for a new game platform?

    I'm working on a game platform that turns your iPhone, android or iPad into a steering wheel, for racing games (like need for speed and dirt 3) and flight simulators for example. I'd love to figure out smart ways to figure out whether gamers would like something like this. I originally asked this question over on the gaming SE and it was for getflypad.com. A lot of the tech is built and most of it is doable - the question here is how to test demand and know whether gamers actually want this.

  • How to migrate from Wubi to a regular installation?

    I recently installed Ubuntu through Wubi and I love it enough that I am ready to ditch Windows! My set up is like this: Drive 1: 80 GB SSD Windows 7 Drive 2: 320 GB HDD Ubuntu (installed through Wubi) Drive 3: 1000 TB NTFS media drive What I want to do is move the Ubuntu installation from the 320 gig hard drive to my SSD and totally get rid of Windows. Would be great if I could preserve my current Ubuntu install during the process since it's finally working. :-) Thanks!

    As much as I understand both concepts, I can't see how can I take advantage of JavaScript's closures and prototypes aside from using them for creating instantiable and/or encapsulated class-like blocks (which seems more of a workaround than an asset to me) Other JS features such as functions-as-values or logical evaluation of non-booleans are much easier to fall in love with...   • How do I get a TP-LINK WN723N wireless USB adapter working?

    I am having trouble using a TP-LINK WN723N wireless USB adapter on my computer which is running Ubuntu 12.04. When I plug the adapter in, the computer automatically picks up a signal from my wireless router but only connects to the internet for a short amount of time before losing the connection. I have searched for additional drivers and have tried running the .exe installation file on the WINE drive with no such luck... Am very new to Ubuntu would love some help! Thanks :-)

    I have a bilingual site in Drupal. The problem is that I hate the language switch block taking up so much space (sometimes the only thing in the sidebar is the language switch block). So what I would love to have is language switch menu item, that would point to the other language (other then the current one).     I often buy webtemplates online, and when I do so I often look at the demos to get some inspiration on how to use the components. But I would love to look at other sites which have already implemented a full website using this template. So I am looking for a tool which searches sites having a similar HTML as the demos (and therefore are probably implementing the template). I am referring to templates which do not have a static text like "Created with Template FooBar by BarFoo" in the footer.

  • What's the closest thing to Apple's SpriteKit on Android devices? [on hold]

    I've been playing around with the iOS 7 SpriteKit APIs and I totally love them. As I'm pretty much a n00b on Android, I'm wondering what the best Alternative would be if I wanted to go cross platform? I find Cocos2D learning curve pretty steep, where with SpriteKit it's a matter of minutes to get something on the screen. Then there's MonoGame and Cocos 2D for MonoGame - haven't tried either one I must admit.

  • Transparent menus(for applications) in gnome shell

    How do I make menus look transparent in Gnome-shell? In unity, I use ubuntu-tweak to do this(In ubuntu tweak , Go to Desktop-Compiz settings and then select Enable transparent menus option). Since compiz is no longer being used in gnome-shell, this is not working any more . Any alternatives ? I love gnome-shell but I am still missing some awesome features of compiz like "wobbly windows" and other desktop effects!

  • Did I choose proper career path? [closed]

    I am a C# Junior. My company has it's own enterprise documents-flow system written, my job along with 10 other programmers is to write modules/add-ons for it. I am totally bored of this job, I dont like Microsoft's technologies stack (dont hate me here, just subjective), but it's plain boring, enterprise is boring (subjective again, everyone's tastes differ), days on this work last long and I am tired of it. In short - I dont like my job. In my spare time I am doing PHP-development and I totally like it. I am also doing web-design, so I am LAMP-kind of guy who loves his Ubuntu and does design aswell. I know that most programmers don't do design themselves, so some person is either all about design or all about coding, but I enjoy both and do both. I often get interesting sites orders, I love to make whole websites with all the design, I love the feeling of site completeness, I enjoy talking with customers. I like that PHP is simple and skill cap is lower than one of java, meaning I can become expert in it after some years. But C# (and J2EE also) pay more, and I am doing really good in C#. But I dont like it. I can go for J2EE, platform itself seems more fun to me rather than .NET, but EE development is still boring to me. But it seems higher payed, easier to find job (since PHP is too common for its easiness. But if you are expert in something it doesnt matter, right? Just a higher skillcap.) Question: I want to go on with freelance. I want to have an opportunity to start my own startup in web. Actually I have a browser-game already written by myself, it earns me around 500$ per month which I am really proud of since I am 21 only and still noob in coding. I want to find part-time PHP job. 3 days per week so I can get some stable income, I can work in team and learn from them, social factor matters aswell as ensurance and diversity. I also want my total income (freelance + part-time job + own startup maybe)to be not too much less than one I have working in EE development sector. Maximum of 25% lower, but not more. Is it all possible if I stick with web-development (LAMP + HTML/CSS/JS/Jquery/AJAX)? Or is it easier to reach my goals with EE development?
