• Enabling SFTP Access within PLESK

  Hello everyone, I have a client who wants to ensure his upload is secure, so we are trying to enable SFTP for him on our Linux PLESK server. I have enabled SSH access to bin/bash for FTP accounts, and created a new user. When I attempt to SFTP using either the IP address or the domain name, this is the error FileZilla is giving me: Error: Authentication failed. Error: Critical error Error: Could not connect to server Here is some basic information regarding the server: Operating system Linux 2.6.24.5-20080421a Plesk Control Panel version psa v8.6.0_build86080930.03 os_CentOS 5 I had read in some places that I should reboot the SSH Service in Server - Services, however, there is no SSH Service within the list. I'm not really a server guy so it's quite possible I'm missing something obvious. Thanks for any help that you guys can provide!

• AppCmd returns error: Object 'SET' is not supported

  I am trying to set SSL Host Headers and Secure Site Bindings in IIS7. I followed the directions on this website http://www.digicert.com/ssl-support/ssl-host-headers-iis-7.htm (among others), but when I run the appcmd command mentioned, I get the error "Object 'SET' is not supported. Run 'appcmd.exe /?' to display supported objects". I have also tryed "appcmd site set" but it still returns the same error. What am I doing wrong? The server I am working on is Windows 2008 R2 x64, if that matters. Thank you.

• Started a Forum Board (with phpBB), but Now Rethinking Choice of Board App - Security

  The main reason I even started participating on Superuser.com is because a friend ripped me a new one for using phpBB. He said, "check out StackExchange, they have their act together!" I did, and it's true. So now, after learning phpBB and implementing the board (it's still new and in its infancy), I feel slightly regretful. I would love to use the Stack Exchange tool, but the cost will eventually be the main deterrent. The attractive thing about phpBB is that it's free and open. However, I have heard that it lacks security. Has anyone had this experience, that phpBB is not secure, such that they changed board software? And, I wonder if Stack Exchange is going to introduce a cheaper option for low traffic users? Does this question belong on meta?

• QT4 - MDI model or Dock Windows?

  Greetings, In the QT application we develop we need to display several 'Viewer windows'(to display data in XY plane ,YX plane,XZ plane and in 3D). We were hoping to use MDI application model ,but later client asked for a requirement to drag and view 'Viewer windows' in multiple desktops.(using multiple monitors). This can not be done using MDI window model ,because we cannot move MDI window outside the Main Application Window. Only possible way is to use Dock windows because they can be undocked from Main Application Window and move into other desktops, but Dock windows primary used for tool-palettes or utility windows. (http://doc.qt.nokia.com/4.6/qdockwidget.html#details) Is it a good practice to use Dock window for our requirement? thanks in advance.

• Supermicro IPMI SSL

  I have a Supermicro X9SCA-F serverboard and I'm trying to secure Super Doctor III IPMI by using SSL. I generated my own certs (done this many times before), uploaded via the web interface, then it said it needed to restart & I clicked OK, but it never came back up. Right now it's not listening on port 80 or 443 it seems. I also power cycled the box a few times (shutting down & physically removing power for 5 mins), but that didn't seem to help either. Before I did this, it was working fine, so I'm not sure what may have happened?

• Component based game engine design

  I have been looking at game engine design (specifically focused on 2d game engines, but also applicable to 3d games), and am interested in some information on how to go about it. I have heard that many engines are moving to a component based design nowadays rather than the traditional deep-object hierarchy. Do you know of any good links with information on how these sorts of designs are often implemented? I have seen evolve your hierarchy, but I can't really find many more with detailed information (most of them just seem to say "use components rather than a hierarchy" but I have found that it takes a bit of effort to switch my thinking between the two models). Any good links or information on this would be appreciated, and even books, although links and detailed answers here would be preferred.

  Attempting to implement client authentication with an SSL cert. http://www.modssl.org/docs/2.8/ssl_howto.html#auth-selective Receive the following errors. Apache: Re-negotiation handshake failed: Not accepted by client!? Firefox: ssl_error_handshake_failure_alert I assume it is a configuration error, but have not been able to locate it. Additional info: Commercial CA server cert servers secure works without problem in Apache 2.2 & Passenger. Only client authentication related directives do not work.

• Java 2D Game Frameworks

  I have been looking at frameworks for writing 2D games in Java - part of a growing desire to rediscover my roots in writing those simple but addictive video games. I have googled and found some possibilities, but it's hard to judge which is best without investing significant time in each. Does anyone out there have any recommendations from experience, preferably with a list of pro's and con's for the framework. NOTE: I am not looking so much for comparisons between frameworks but, rather, feedback on any given framework from actually having used it firsthand, or knowing someone who has. The other possibility I am considering is rolling my own, but would rather not. EDIT: I am targeting Java on the Desktop, and expect capable machines, though not state of the art.   I have a Windows 2008 Std server running NPS. After applying the latest round of updates (including Root Certificates for April 2012 KB931125 (See:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933430/)), EAP authentication is failing due to being malformed. Sample error (Security/Event ID 6273), truncated for brevity: Authentication Details: Proxy Policy Name: Use Windows authentication for all users Network Policy Name: Wireless Access Authentication Provider: Windows Authentication Server: nps-host.corp.contoso.com Authentication Type: PEAP EAP Type: - Account Session Identifier: - Reason Code: 266 Reason: The message received was unexpected or badly formatted. The NPS policy (Wireless Access) is configured accordingly (for Constraints/Authentication methods) EAP Types: Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP) - with a valid certificate from ADCS Microsoft: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2) Less secure authentication methods: Microsoft Encrypted Authentication version 2 (MS-CHAP-v2) User can change password after it has expired Microsoft Encrypted Authentication (MS-CHAP) User can change password after it has expired We've tested a different RADIUS server without the aforementioned patch, and removed EAP as an authentication type and experienced success. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

• Webservice Jira gives: Error: No such operation 'getIssuesFromJqlSearch' from Jira 4.01

  When I use the Webservice of Jira, I need to use the method getIssuesFromJqlSearch to describe a certain (JQL) Query. But it returns me "No such operation 'getIssuesFromJqlSearch'". Is this method in Jira 4.01 not implemented yet? BTW: I need a method to get all Issues from one specific project, without creating filters first. This was my first way to find a workaround, because there is no function getIssuesFromProject. If there is no way to fix the problem with the JQL method, I try to take RSS XML View with the URL jql statement like SearchRequest.xml?jqlQuery=project+%3D+Testproject&tempMax=1000. But this is not my favorite.

• How can I create an “su” only user (no SSH or SFTP) and limit who can “su” into that account in RHEL5? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: How can I allow one user to su to another without allowing root access? We have a user account that our DBAs use (oracle). I do not want to set a password on this account and want to only allow users in the dba group to su - oracle. How can I accomplish this? I was thinking of just giving them sudo access to the su - oracle command. However, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a more polished/elegant/secure way.

• Apache Redirect to Jboss SSL

  I'm trying to have an SSL Connection to an Apache server on port 443 which I want to use to proxy connections to a JBoss server on a different port. The SSL certificates sit on the Jboss server not on the Apache server. Is it possible to redirect HTTPS traffic from Apache to the Jboss Server and have the JBoss server do the SSL handshake? The Apache server must be able to redirect HTTPS traffic for two different URLS. One for a secure site. The other for access to web services. By the way I'm using it mutual authentication, if that makes any difference. What does the Apache config file need to contain? or are there any good example of this out there? Thanks

• Screen Capture Under Win7 of JOGL Applet

  Hi I'm trying to take a screen shot of an applet running inside a browser. The applet is using JOGL (OpenGL for Java) to display 3D models. (1) The screen shots always come out either black or white.The current solution uses the usual GDI calls. Screen shots of applets not running OpenGL are fine. • (Tough) Security Queston about ISP companies

  I want to ask a question. One ISP was criticized for it's low security conditions, and when i heard this i started to think: If one gets an unauthorized access to the mainframe computer / internal network of the ISP, then wouldn't he be able to sniff all the traffic ? Because the ISP is providing the internet connection for the user so all traffic that sends and transmits a user travels via the ISP, right ? What security solutions (talking about computer security) are being implemented by other ISP in order to protect themselves and their users ? If all the connections are being sent via a special computer, how secure it is and how can be we sure that it's really safe ? And what kind of computers are those who serve as backbones for the ISP ?   Hi, I'm interested in booting-off-flash (i.e. like livecd) for more secure online banking at home. -I like system rescue CD, but AFAIK it doesn't have the wifi drivers. (These are convenient) -ubuntu live cd has the wi-fi drivers, but also has a lot of stuff I don't need -I'd like a way to save some basic config settings (e.g. wifi SSID and passphrase), so that wifi works upon startup, i.e. without having to re-enter the settings. What's the best way to 'roll my own slightly-customized boot-from-flash live cd? thanks, bill

  I am trying to compile a program I took off a cd from a book that uses directx to render 3d objects. when i press compile I get the following error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'dxerr9.h': No such file or directory I am using VC++ 2008 Express Edition and i am running off of Vista. I went to the following folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Include and I was not able to find the header there. Unless I am looking in the wrong place. When I initially installed DX sdk I allowed the installer to put everything in a default location. I am not sure If I am looking in the right places or what.

  Hi , I need to use YQL (Yahoo Query Language) to perform a cross domain ajax request then bind the XML response into a JSON object and retrieve a value from the XML. • Is there a 2d sprite library for webgl?

  I am looking to build a 2d game using WebGL. I want the hardware acceleration that WebGL provides and I cannot get this from the 2D canvas context in the canvas tag. With that said, is there a tutorial on creating 2D sprites using webGL? Or, better yet, is there a 2D sprite library for WebGL? Ideally, I'm looking for something like cocos2d ported to WebGL. Not surprisingly, all of the demos, tutorials and libraries I have found for WebGL focus on 3D manipulation. Are there any WebGL libraries that support 2D sprites?

• Tomcat 6 HTTPS connector: keep alive timeout not being respected

  I'm using Tomcat 6.0.24 on Ubuntu (JDK 1.6) with an app that does Comet-style requests on an HTTPS connector (directly against Tomcat, not using APR). I'd like to set the keep-alive to 5 minutes so I don't have to refresh my long-polling connections. Here is my config: <Connector port="8443" protocol="HTTP/1.1" SSLEnabled="true" maxThreads="1000" keepAliveTimeout="330000" scheme="https" secure="true" clientAuth="false" sslProtocol="TLS" /> Unfortunately it seems that the server closes the connection after 65 seconds. The pcap from a sample session goes something like this: T=0 Client sends SYN to server, handshake etc. T=65 Server sends FIN to client T=307 Client sends FIN to server (I'm guessing the 5 minute timeout on the client is due to the HTTP lib not detecting the socket close on the server end, but in any case -- the server shouldn't be closing the connection that early) (edit: this works as expected when using the standard HTTP connector)

So the user would type e.g. London, UK and I need to load the query as below: http://query.yahooapis.com/v1/public/yql?q=select%20woeid%20from%20geo.places%20where%20text%20%3D%20%22London%2C%20UK%2C%20UK%22&format=xml After which I need to grab the WOEID value from the XML content returned.   What is the best way to scatter a Fortran 90 matrix by its rows rather than columns? That is, let's say I have a matrix a(4,50) and I want to MPI_SCATTER it onto two processes where each part is alocal(2,50), where rank 0 has rows 1 and 2, and rank 1 has 3 and 4. Now, in C, this is simple since arrays are row-major, but in Fortran 90 they are column-major. I'm trying to avoid using TRANSPOSE to flip a before scattering (i.e, doubling the memory use), and I figure there must be a way in MPI to do this. Would it be MPI_TYPE_VECTOR? MPI_TYPE_CREATE_SUBARRAY? Likewise, what if I have a 3d array b(4,50,3) and I want two scattered matrices of blocal(2,50,3) distributed as above?

• Slow git clone and fetch

  I setuped gitosis on a linux server following this tutorial: http://scie.nti.st/2007/11/14/hosting-git-repositories-the-easy-and-secure-way We are using git on our windows machines with TortoiseGit and msysgit. Pushing changes to the server is pretty fast, but when we want to clone or fetch changes from the remote server, it begins really fast (800k/s) and then drop pretty fast to around 3 to 30k/s and it can take forever to update. git-pull for small update is fast, but as soon as we have to download something of more than a few MB, it is slow. We are switching from SVN to git and this is holding us back from using git full time. Thanks!

• OpenGL Wrapper in .Net

  This question is similar to the one here. But I feel that the answers recommended ( such as Tao and OpenTK) are not good enough because they are just a direct port from OpenGL, with no OOP design, and hard to use. What I'm looking for is a .Net OpenGL wrapper that is written in clear OOP principles, easy to use ( easy to apply textual and lighting, easy to debug etc), able to rotate the 3D diagram with mouse ( a feature that is critically missing from OpenGL and TAO), and the ability to export to other file formats ( such as dwg or dxf or Google Map file format). Any suggestion? Both Open source or commercial components would do.
