  • How do I configure IIS 7 (discount asp.net) to point subdomains at application subdirectories?

    I have an discount asp.net account, which uses IIS 7 and I want to configure subdomains to point at specific applications on the site. For instance: 's1.site.com' would run the application at 'site.com/serverone'. I would like the subdomain to be opaque so that users do not have to deal with the /serverone part. There was a similar question on server fault, but it involves creating a whole new site for each subdomain, where as I would rather just create independent websites.

    On Linux systems, you can successfully chmod u+s $some_directory, but instead of forcing the ownership of new subdirectories and files to be the owner of the containing directory (and setting subdirectories u+s as well) as you might expect, the system just ignores the setuid bit. Subdirectories and files continue to inherit the UIDs of their creating processes, and subdirectories are not setuid by default. Why is setuid ignored on directories, and how can I get the system to recognize it?

    I'm creating a batch script for a class and I've hit a roadblock I have to list all text files whose names are up to seven characters long on the whole c: drive - make the listing output in a wide formant - then append to Batch script file output.txt So far I have -- dir c:*txt/w/o/s/p c:/"My Batch Script File Assigment"/"Output"/"Batch Script File Output Data".txt The above does everything except limit the search to files with only 1-7 characters in their name. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it!

  • Per directory ignore in TextMate

    I love idea of TextMate that any directory opened in it is already a project. But sometimes I it would be good to ignore files for certain dir and I don't like idea of creating project file in that dir or remembering how I named project file in some special folder like ~/.tmproject. Is there some sort of plugin or something like this which will allow me to ignore files in dir? Perfect solution would be reading .gitignore file.

I've never used SBS 2008 before today, so this is a real noob question: Is it possible to create a user account without creating an associated exchange mailbox? I've been asked to create a new user, but not give them an email address. I guess I could just disable their email account in Exchange, but is there a nicer method?

  • Postfixadmin Invalid Query

    This is my first time running a postfixadmin, so in my setup.php, I'm getting this error DEBUG INFORMATION: Invalid query: Unknown column 'create_date' in 'mailbox' I'm running it with MySQL. So if i'm right, my guess is that i need to create a column? under mailbox table on the postfix database? but how or whats the right syntax into creating a timedate column? My knowledge with mysql and postfix are very minimal btw. Thanks in advance.

  • Unable to boot directly to Mac OS X

    I was trying to install Windows 7 on my Macbook pro using bootcamp, after creating partition I found out that I missed my DVD at office desk. Later I deleted the partition, but when I restart the macbook it kept telling that "No bootable device found" even after deleting the partition, I'm expecting it to boot directly to Mac OSX. Is there any solution to fix this problem?

  • Microsoft Word files have weird icons suddenly?

    All of a sudden, my Microsoft Office files have the generic file icon, and it happens with Powerpoint and Word, but not Excel. I can open the files just fine, and I tried restarting my computer, creating new files, clicking F5 on the desktop, turning off my Windows XP theme patcher, and none of them worked, any ideas? EDIT: I've also noticed that it happened to the following programs: Windows Live Messenger, iTunes, and Skype, so not just MS Office. Yet, some are still fine like IE, Paint, GIMP, Paint.NET, a few web browsers, etc.

  • Why do I have a different jump list for Outlook 2007

    I understand that the Windows 7 jump list for Outlook 2007 should look something like the one on the left, whereas mine, on the right contains only the three basic items and an ICS file I imported recently. I would like to have access to the commands for creating new items from my jump list. Can anyone explain why I don't get the other commands and what I might be able to do to enable them?

  • Dynamic IP and spam filtering

    Is it possible to filter incoming spam when the mail server is hosted on a dynamic IP. Static IP is not an option at the moment. Outgoing mail is relayed through a third party service which works great, but I am not sure how I could filter incoming mail within Domino. Has anyone figured out how to do achieve this? Or I am limited to what Domino has to offer to control spam and doing it manually by creating mail rules?

  • Why does a PDF printed in iWork Pages 09 look crappy in Adobe Reader?

    Hello, I use Snow Leopard at home and work and recently realized that the documents I create in iWork Pages 09 don't look good in Adobe Reader. I go about creating a regular document and 'Print' - Save as PDF in Pages in OS X. The saved PDF file looks great in Preview in OS X but it looks pretty bad in Windows' Adobe Reader and even Adobe Acrobat in OS X. Is there something I could do to make it look better on both platforms? Thank you.

    I've got an old powerbook g4. Battery is totally dead, as is the superdrive. I've looked into selling but it's worth less than it would cost to ship it safely. So I'm considering cracking it open and and taking it's parts and creating some kind of small form factor desktop, probably for the living room. I don't need an optical drive, I really just would like Mac OSX, without purchasing a Mac Mini. Anyone got any tips?

    When I got sick my email ended up in every drug sellers email list. Some days I get over 200 emails selling everything from Viagra to Xanax. Either they don't know what my condition is or they are telling me you are a goner, might as well chill-ax and have a good time. In order to cut down on the mail being downloaded I thought I would add all of the Junk email senders from Outlook to my Network Solution mail server. Much to my amazement I could not find that import Spammers button, so I submitted a tech support request. Here is the response: Thank you for contacting Network Solutions Customer Service Department. We are committed to creating the best Customer experience possible. One of the first ways we can demonstrate our commitment to this goal is to quickly and efficiently handle your recent request. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused you. With regard to your concern, please be advised that we cannot import blocked senders in to you e-mail servers. An alternative option is for you to create a Custom Filter that filters unwanted e-mails. To create a Custom Filter: Open a Web browser (e.g., Netscape, Microsoft Internet Explorer, etc.). Type mail.[domain name].[ext] in the address line. Login to your Network Solutions email account. Click on the Configuration left menu tab. Click on the Custom Filter link. Type the rule name. blah, blah, blah Basically add them one at a time. "We are committed to creating the best Customer experience possible." No you are not. You are trying to squeeze every nickle you can out of me. "With regard to your concern, please be advised that we cannot import blocked senders in to you e-mail servers." Maybe I should apply for a job to write those ten complicated lines of code... Maybe I should question my choice of vendors, because if they truly "cannot" then they are to stupid to have my business. It is both amusing and sad.     As our client computer team is in the process of creating some Windows 8 images I have been charged with the setup of the KMS host to support this OS. I do currently run a 2003 KMS host that serves Office 2010, Server 2008, and Windows 7. However from looking at this Technet page it would seem that I cannot install Windows 8 or Server 2012 KMS host services on Server 2003. Am I reading that correctly?

  • Create a zip file that doesn't create a folder when opened, Mac OS X

    I am wondering if there is any way of easily creating a zip file that contains a bunch of files. However, when I double-click to open this zip file, I do not want it to create a subdirectory with the same name as the zip file, I just want all of the files to be extracted into the directory where the zip files is stored. Is there a certain flag I can add in terminal to do this, or any program that does this. Thanks for your help!
