  • Qt creator, insert custom menu at specified place into menu bar

    Hi, I have created a menu bar and some menus with Qt creator. One of the menus had to be coded to use QActionGroup features. Now it is easy to add my custom menu to the menu bar with: printMenu = menuBar()-addMenu(tr("&Print")); but my menu will be in the last position of the menu bar. How do I add my menu at a specified place? (e.g. the second place right after the File menu) Greetings

So their control inherits FrameworkElement but then every thing gets super complex... are there any easy tutorials out there that show how to implement a custom FrameworkElement with children and so on?     In perl, parentheses are used for overriding precedence (as in most programming languages) as well as for creating lists. How can I tell if a particular pair of parens will be treated as a grouping construct or a one-element list? For example, I'm pretty sure this is a scalar and not a one-element list: (1 + 1) But what about more complex expressions? Is there an easy way to tell?

  • Dark color scheme for Eclipse?

    Is Eclipse at all themeable? I would like to install a dark color scheme for it, since I much prefer white text on dark background than the other way around. Edit: so apparently there is NO easy way to do it. Shame, I really prefer Eclipse to NetBeans, but I cannot stand the white background (and NetBeans does support themes).

I am reading Kohonen and Kaski's paper on using the maps to identify the structure of Welfare, and want to try the technique my self. I think many of the examples in R have a lot to be desired.   • Complementary language to learn after Python?

    As a reasonable proficient Python programmer, I'm wondering what a good second language to learn would be. More specifically, something that does well the things that Python doesn't in general do as well. My first guess would be C/C++ since it's got easy extensibility with Python and because it offers generally better performance, but I'm wondering if Java or C# might be a better or at least equivalently good option with different up/downsides compared to C/C++.

  • How can I show a "selection highlighting"-rectangle around a column of a Silverlight Grid?

    I have a feature matrix implemented with Silverlight's Grid where users need to select a product. How can I indicate selection with a rectangle around the whole selected column? It is easy to put a CheckBox at the bottom of each product's column, but that is too dull. I would have preffered to use SL Toolkit's DataGrid (with built-in row selection), but it cannot be orientated vertically for a feature matrix... Thanks, Carl

    In Scala, I can define a function with two parameter lists. def myAdd(x :Int)(y :Int) = x + y This makes it easy to define a partially applied function. val plusFive = myAdd(5) _ But, I can accomplish something similar by defining and returning a nested function. def myOtherAdd(x :Int) = { def f(y :Int) = x + y f _ } Cosmetically, I've moved the underscore, but this still feels like currying. val otherPlusFive = myOtherAdd(5) What criteria should I use to prefer one approach over the other?
