  • Convert .cshrc to .bashrc

    I am new to Linux and I am trying to compile some code that needs environment variables set first. The script is in cshrc, but whenever I try to run that code I get "if: badly formed number" errors. I want to run it in bash instead. Is there an easy way to convert cshrc to bashrc?

  • What is the best way to produce a tilde in LaTeX for a website?

    Following the previous questions on this topic, when you produce a website in LaTeX what is the best way to produce a url that contains a tilde? \verb produces the upper tilde that does not read well, and $\sim$ does not copy/pase well (adding a space when I do it). Solutions? It seems like this should be one of those things that has a very easy fix... if it doesn't, why not?

Right now I have a batch script that runs, but I have to manually add a database each and every time, and I'm sick of maintaining it. So I want to set it up to backup all SQL Server and then all MySQL, I dont care if its two different solutions, just want the ability to backup all the databases without having to type them in.     Does anyone know a good way to test if one element, stored in a var, is the child of another, also stored in a var? I don't need element1.isChildOf('selector'), that's easy. I need element1.isChildOf(element2) element2.find(element1).size() > 0 Does not seem to work. I don't want to have to write a plugin the uses .each to test each child if I can avoid it.

I use the cfdirectory to get the file by year. Right now, I want to display it as sorted order in month. Say If I only want year 2009 data. I want it sorted as january2009.xml, february2009.xml, march2009.xml,april2009.xml but not april2009.xml, february2009.xml, january2009.xml, march2009.xml Anyone has easy way to do it in ColdFusion?

It's easy to see in the sys tray on a windows box and I've become used to it by now. So, is there a similar/identical tool for CVS. Some googling and to my surprise I couldn't find one. Any tips?

    Hi, cmake advises to use out-of-source builds. While in general I like the idea I find it not comfortable to navigate from out-of-source sub directory to the corresponding source directory. I frequently need the code to perform some actions with code (e.g. grep, svn command etc.).   • How to manually throw a compiler error in GCC and Xcode

    In xcode, while compiling apps with gcc, I want to throw compilation time errors if things like NSZombieEnabled is on for a distribution release, thus ensuring that compilation will fail and I won't accidentally do something stupid. I did some googling, but could not figure out how to cause the compiler to bail if a certain condition is met. Surely it must be easy, am I just not finding it?

So, for instance, you have an enum Fruit{Apple,Orange,Banana,Pear, ... } NetworkConnectionType{LAN,Data_3g,Data_4g, ... } I am opposed to naming it: FruitEnum NetworkConnectionTypeEnum I understand it is easy to pick off which files are enums, but then you would also have: NetworkConnectionClass FruitClass Also, is there a good document describing the same for constants, where to declare them, etc.?   • Is there a way to generate a short random id, avoiding collisions, without hitting persistent storag

    If you've used GoToMeeting, that's the type of ID I want. I'd like it to be random so that it obfuscates the number of items being tracked and short, so that it's easy to reference manually; UUIDs are way too long. I'd like to avoid hitting persistent storage merely for performance reasons, but I can't think of any other way to avoid collisions. Is 9 digits enough to do something time-based?
