• Can't boot up computer windows 8 installation

  I wanted to install Windows 8 with a volume partition and when the Windows 8 was installing it rebooted and it gave me an error: The digital signature for this file couldn't be verified. File :windows \system 32\winload.exe error code 0xc0000428. I have tried bootec commands and they didn't seem to fix it. Also my Windows 7 got deleted and I only have to boot with the Windows 8 error, so I can't do anything not even boot to safe mode. I have tried to install Windows 8 from disk later on and it won't let me because it keeps rebooting and starting the installation again, so I took off the disk before it rebooted and it takes me to that error again. Remember that's my only boot option so I'm stuck in the installation disk.

  I'm using Iceweasel (un/rebranded Firefox) 3.5.9 on Debian (amd64). I want to use the "Furigana Injector" plugin. I installed it via the Tools - Add-ons menuitem (version 1.3), and restarted Firefox. Unfortunately, when I click the button, it only says: "The 'SimpleMecab' XPCOM component could not be loaded." in a dialog box, several dozen times (!). I found a Debian package "libmecab1", but installing it didn't help. Is there some "mecab" package I can install that will make this work?

  I have P.C with Emaxx Motherboard : emx-a55gm-icafe with AMD dual core processor,500 GB WD Sata HDD,2GB of RAM,samsung dvdr,windows 7 dvd which is all brandnew. When i was trying to install windows 7 ulitmate on my P.C it really takes hours on setting up, which is really rare and i'm still hopeless getting a solution for this.But I don't have any issue installing windows 7 on my HP laptop that can be finished within just more than 20minutes. There is same issue that ive search in google and disabling the floppy disk drive in BIOS is their solution, but my problem is, Emaxx icafe doesnt have floppy disk drive setting on bios. I already change ACHI/IDE Support but i have still no luck. Is there any solution for this? Thanks in Regards

  After installing the 2 files for Windows 7 Windows XP mode, the Start Menu now has Windows Virtual PC Windows XP Mode but clicking on the first merely brings out a folder, and clicking on the second brings out a dialog box that says: "Require Hardware Assisted Virtualization" Does that mean the machine cannot support Windows 7 Windows XP mode? I am running Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition. This is the dialog box: Update: the computer is an HP TouchSmart, with American Megatrends BIOS v02.61. I looked into the BIOS set up but it is quite simple and dosen't have something for "hardware assisted virtualization". The CPU is Intel Core 2 Duo T5750.

• Has anyone else had problems with the miserable kb980408 update?

  I wasn't experienced any problems before installing kb980408 for Windows 7 x86. The update made it impossible for me to log into my computer after displaying a "Setting up personalized settings for Windows Desktop Update" message, after killing that task a "Windows Explorer is not responding - Windows is checking for a solution to the problem" message appears, then it waits forever... If I killed that task, I was not able to continue the boot process, if I ran explore.exe manually, the same thing happens. The solution, by the way, was to boot into safe mode and use the add/remove program in the control panel to uninstall this wretched piece of code. Start-up repair and/or the use of system restore will not help you, you need to uninstall.

• MS SideWinder Force Feedback Wheel under Win7 x64 - steering works but force feedback not

  I just bought this second-hand ancient but professional steering wheel: Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Wheel. I hooked it up to my Win7 x64 machine, it recognized it without installing anything, it did show up in the "Devices and Printers" section. Right-click - I could calibrate it, I could use it under Flatout2 right away. However, force feedback does not seem to work. The steering wheel has a force-button. If I set it using force feedback, it should lit up according to the manual (originally written for Win98). However, instead of lighting up, it blinks. The manual does not associate anything to blinking. I never used any game controllers before on any Windows. Is there a way to check/calibrate force feedback?

• Apache Unclean shutdown of previous apache run

  I'm having problem with running Apache2.2 on my Vista machine. When I clean install Apache it works just fine, but after I installed PHP, I'm getting this error message in logs. [Fri Oct 23 21:29:02 2009] [warn] pid file C:/Dev/Apache2.2/logs/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run? Apache service was stopped when installing PHP. I did only one shutdown before instalation via Apache Service Monitor. Deleting httpd.pid and starting again doesn't help. I even tried to lookup process with PID in that file, but there is no such process.

• What's the significance of this Google Apps error code '0x8004010B' ?

  There seems to be a lack of good information around this particular Google Apps error code. Has anyone found common environmental information that causes this error? Any kind of solution? Uninstalling/re-installing Google Sync doesn't seem to do anything, I've run Outlook's executable that scans/fixes the PST file etc. Task 'Google Apps - ::user email address:: - Sending' reported error (0x8004010B) : 'Unknown Error 0x8004010B' I found a listing of error codes for the Gdata API but nothing for these types of 'unknown' error codes. Does Google have available a list of common 'unknown' error codes/messages? Thanks in advance.

• Office 2007 Setup prompts for PptLR.cab

  While running Office 2007 Ultimate Setup on Windows 7 box, I get this error message - "Setup cannot find PowerPoint.en-us\PptLR.cab". This file is very much present in the setup folder. It gives me an option to choose the correct path of this file, but when I browse and navigate to the folder containing this file, it doesn't show me the CAB file for selection. I tried installing both from DVD and also running setup from hard disk location. The same setup media was used earlier for installation on Vista without any issues!

• How to install Python newt or snack in Mac OS X for byobu

  I've installed byobu in Mac OS X 10.6.5. It will start, (i.e. it will start a screen session) but in order to run byobu-config and probably in order to do some other things I need a module called snack which apparently is part of python newt. pip search newt and pip search snack return no results. newt and snack aren't in MacPorts or Brew either. I haven't found anything online in my searching with respect to installing newt on Mac OS X. Has anyone else been able to install byobu and newt in Mac OS X?

• Sonicwall SSL VPN: Unable to reconnect once connection drops

  One of my users is having problems with his NetExtender connection. After installing NetExtender from the portal, it connects fine -- ONCE. After that, attempting to reconnect gives Verifying user...authentication fail! and the log on the router shows: [timestamp] | Info | SSLVPN | Auth Failed: No user name in http request (message id: 1079) This seems odd to me because the user name, password and domain are entered on the NetExtender client. After this error occurs, the only way to connect again is to uninstall, reboot, and reinstall NetExtender. He can connect fine to the Sonicwall SSLVPN demo site, and a different user can connect fine to this site from a different PC. Any clues?

I want to access this proxy over the internet (as an anonymizer) so that I can see how some ads show up for US traffic on my website. I have setup authentication so abuse is not a problem. However, I am not able to access the proxy over the internet. I have set the following rule in squid.conf http_access allow all Is this not possible to do what I want or I am missing something?   I am new to Linux and trying to set up a server. For this project I need some additional software, but how to install the software I'm interested in is not always obvious. For example, this was my experience with a PHP package called htscanner: There is no installation guide on the website. The website says that the version I used did not have any dependencies, but this is incorrect. "Release 0.8.1: No dependencies registered." There is no configuration guide on the website. After I managed to get it installed it still didn't work. I decided to just uninstall it and find a better solution. Uninstalling isn't straightforward; the best answer I got is to manually look for the files and delete them. What are the basic concepts of installing and uninstalling software on Linux? How is this supposed to work?

• Windows server reboot loop - uninstalling hotfixes

  After installing 3 updates, my system is stuck in a reboot loop. I am using server 2008 r2. I have tried deleting pending.xml from the windows directory, so pelase don't suggest that. I tried dism /image:d:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions which completed successfully but did not solve my issue I then tried: dism /image:d:\ /Remove-Package /PackageName: and sucusfully removed one of the 3 updates. The two updates that are left are not listed with the dism get-packages command, but are listed with the get-apppatches command. I cannot find a way to uninstall them with dism however. So my question is, how can I manually uninstall specific updates or hotfixes from within the winre environment?

• bash alias doesn't carry over with sudo

  I'm curious if there's a way to get my .bash_profile to work when I sudo a program. For example, I have it set to alias emerge='emerge -av' so that I can install software, and it will always ask me if I want to proceed before downloading and installing. However I just noticed when I sudo emerge foo, it defaults to just the plain command emerge foo instead of emerge -av foo. Only thing that comes to mind to fix this is to also put the alias in root's .bash_profile, but I don't want to have to resort to that since I will always have to make changes in two places when I want to add stuff to my own profile. Is there another way around this that I'm unfamiliar with?

  Background information: I have a problem installing system-config-network. It appears it cannot find an update to sqlite (checks every mirror and comes back empty handed.) I have tried the skipping broken option and package cleanups from yum-utils. Since I cannot get it installed, I decided to set an ip manually from console. But when I was installing Windows 7 x64 for two times I got a BSOD, and a error message like this: Your PC has rebooted unexpectly, installation will continue after reboot. I have checked everything and tried to install once more time. It was almost successful, Windows had installed, but I cannot format my disk, open cmd or control panel, boot from DVD etc. It's the first time I have assembled a PC, and I don't know where the problem is, in my hardware or in Windows.   I'm trying to install VPN client Shrew, in the process of installation an error occurs. Error 0x800f0203: Couldn't install the network component. It occurs when the installer tries to execute C:\Program Files\ShrewSoft\VPN Client\netcfg.exe -add service vflt C:\Program Files\ShrewSoft\VPN Client\drivers\vfilter.inf Anti-virus, firewall, etc. - are disabled. Run from administrator. Installing vfilter.inf in manual mode, but it's nowhere leads. A similar situation with the Cisco VPN client. Need a VPN client supports a group authorization, and import the settings from pcf format. I'll be glad to any advice!
