• Acting as though the laptop Fn key is pressed

  I have a Fujitsu laptop and all was working fine until I ended teamviewer. On the keyboard it has a numberpad on some of the letters which you press the Fn button to use. The system is acting like I have the Fn key pressed and I get numbers shown when it should be letters. If I press the Fn key the numbers go to letters. The Fn key is not stuck down. Is there a way to reset keyboard settings or a known fix. The operating system is Ubuntu 11.04 Natty.

• Steps to diagnose SNU5600 disconnection problem

  I have a Philips SNU5600 WiFi dongle plugged into two machines (ie I have two SNU5600 dongles, one in each machine). One machine is running 10.10 and the other is running Linux Mint. The dongles work absolutely fine, except if I do a lot of file transfers to a NAS attached to the wireless router. After a while the connection to the router will go. To get the connection back I either need to run sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart or I need to unplug and plug in again the dongle. Otherwise the dongle works fine (web browsing, streaming, etc). Output of lsusb: Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0471:1236 Philips (or NXP) SNU5600 802.11bg Output of lsusb -v at http://pastebin.com/dXYKkF01 What steps should I take next to resolve this? Is it a known problem? Could it be the router? It is a 3Com "OfficeConnect Wireless 11g Cable/DSL Gateway Version 1.02.15".

  Yesterday I was making upgrade (from 11.04 to 12.04) when I have got power failure. I don't known where the installer was, because I wasn't in the front of computer at that moment. After restart Ubuntu started to version 12.04 and everything looks OK. But - I'm not sure if everything was installed correctly? How can I check it or how can I "restart" my automatic upgrade tool to do everything again and "to the end"? Some more infomations: lsb_release -a: No LSB modules are available. • "Oracle Certified Expert, Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 6 Java Persistence API Developer" Preparation

  I have been working with Hibernate for a fews years now, and I want to solidify and demonstrate my knowledge by taking the Oracle JPA certification, also known as: "Oracle Certified Expert, Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 6 Java Persistence API Developer (CX-310-094)" There is a training course provided by Oracle: "Building Database Driven Applications with JPA (SL-370-EE6)" But this costs $1800 and I think it would be overkill for my needs. Ideally, I would like a self study guide that will cover everything in the exam. I have looked for books and these seem like possibilities: Pro JPA 2: Mastering the Java Persistence API (Expert's Voice in Java Technology) and Beginning Java EE 6 with GlassFish 3 2nd Edition (Expert's Voice in Java Technology) But these aren't checklist type study guides as far as I am aware. I found the official SCJP study guide very useful, but I think the equivalent text for the JPA exam isn't out yet. If anyone has taken this exam, I would be grateful to hear how you prepared for it. • Didn't do too well on a Java IKM test, advice?

  I did an IKM Java test recently and got quite a low score. I only graduated a year ago and I dont have commercial experience in Java (i do web development in my current job). I thought reading up a lot on Java would help me prepare, but when I sat the IKM test i got ripped to pieces. I didn't know much about how the garbage collection actually works, names of other java compilers (i know about javac?), using .dll with Java etc etc. I know a wide range of the basics, but to the extent wether 'int(5L)' produces an integer or not, I really didnt know. My question is that many of the IKM questions I have never come across, yet I have read many of the wider-known Java programming books (Deitel, O'Reilly etc). Am i reading the wrong books??? Could anyone recommend a good plan of action to allow me to go away and self-study and be able to know these really tough java questions?
