  One can run VirtualBox guest in "headless" mode and access it using Remote Destkop Protocol(RDP) client.This is typical when VBox server is installed on Linux/Solaris where X-window stuff is not installed and users useWindows to access the VM.So, one can install OS into VBox guests using Remote Desktop client.(e.g. mstsc.exe)Here's the setting. • Discussion of a Distributed Data Storage implementation

  I want to implement a distributed data storage using a client/server architecture. Each data item will be stored persistently in disk in one of several remote servers. The client uses a library to update and query the data, shielding the client from its actual location. This should allow a client to associate keys (String) to values(byte[]), much as a Map does. The system must ensure that the amount of data stored in each server is approximately the same. The set of servers is known beforehand by other servers and clients. Both the client and the server will be written in Java, using sockets, threads, and files. I open this topic with the objective of discussing the best way to implement this idea, assuming simplicity, what are the issues of this implementation, performance measurements and discussion of the limitations.

  Is there any evidence that linking to external quality, reputable and popular websites helps with ranking (directly or indirectly)? Is there an established correlation? Some posts on the web do claim it, but without providing any evidence. It is known that if your website links to bad neighborhood, this will harm your reputation and authority, but does the reverse actually help? And, does it matter if the website is young or old in this case? Update I have found this Moz video revealing there is a 0.04 correlation with ranking.

• Physics-based dynamic audio generation in games

  I wonder if it is possible to generate audio dynamically without any (!) audio assets, using pure mathematics/physics and some input values like material properties and spatial distribution of content in scene space. What I have in mind is something like a scene, with concrete floor, wooden table and glass on it. Now let's assume force pushes the glass towards the edge of table and then the glass falls onto the floor and shatters. The near-realistic glass destruction itself would be possible using voxels and good physics engine, but what about the sound the glass makes while shattering? I believe there is a way to generate that sound, because physics of sound is fairly known these days, but how computationaly costy that would be? Consumer hardware or supercomputers? Do any of you know some good resources/videos of such an experiment?

It definitely very good idea, but I have not been able to find a tutorial of how this is done (only some clips in youtube of people who have done this and a plugin, but it is not known to work work 12.04 version of Ubuntu). I have set my settings of compiz manager, so I have a sphere now, but I need some help with the images that I need to set.   How to choose the right next step in learning programming and mastering new technologies? I have experience with WinForms applications in C# .NET. Next what I see as a good area of expanding the knowledge is ASP.NET. Language I already know, C #, so I think there is now more a matter of mastering new technologies. Also I have interest in WPF.
