• Making all links inside of a div call the same function?

  I'm trying to make a notification area that will show alerts. return this.each(function() { jQuery('<div class="' + o['className'] + '">' + o.msg + ' + '<a href="#" onclick="$(this).parent().remove(); dismiss(' + o["id"] + ');">X</a>' + '</div>') .appendTo(this); }); This just takes a message pulled from the database, and shows it to the user. If the user clicks the X then it will call dismiss() which will mark it as being read in the database. The thing is, if the message itself contains a link to another page or external site, I also want to call dismiss() before the user leaves the page. Is there anyway to alter this javascript to take all a elements (the X and any links that would appear in the message) and change the onclick to call the function?

• Using (void)awakeFromNib

  I am trying to run an action when the application starts. The action checkAtStart is supposed to display an alert if there is no text in field1 and hide startView if there is text in field1. checkAtStart works fine if assigned to a button, but when I try to run it using (void)awakeFromNib, the alert will display no matter what and startView will never hide. Its probably something really simple that I'm forgetting. Any help is appreciated!   Hi, I've more than one Handlers in an Activity. I create all the handlers in the onCreate() of the main activity. My understanding is the handlerMessage() method of each handler will never be called at the same time because all messages are put in the same queue (the Activity thread MessageQueue). Therefore, they will be executed in the order in which are put into the Queue. They will also be executed in the main activity thread. • administrator permission are recommended for running visual studio sp1 on windows 7 rc

  I get this annoying message everytime I try to run visual studio 2005(even using "Run as Administrator" gives same message). I have VS 2005 Professional with all the latest service packs installed including vs2005 SP1 and vs 2005 update for Vista. I am part of the administrators group on my machine. Still I have this problem. Some read on the web suggests that Running program in Compatibility mode solves the problem. Others also recommend turning off the message forever. Well my question is how do I turn off this warning which seems to bother me even if I am part of administrators group. Does Visual Studio does not run in administrator mode even when I am an administrator or even I use "Run as adminsitrator". Also it would be greate if someone out there can highlight what features of Visual Studio wont be available if Visual Studio is launched as a normal user (User is not an administrator/part of the administrator group) on Windows 7.

  I need to catch the following specific exception: System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException was caught ErrorCode=-2147467259 Message="The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again." Source="Microsoft JET Database Engine" I'm not sure what ErrorCode is but it looks unreliable. Can I rely on Message being identical across platforms? Is the only solution to do a text search of Message for words like duplicate and primary key? Note: see my question here for why I need to catch this exception.

  I've got the above odd error message that I don't understand "value Parsers is not a member of package scala.util.parsing.combinator". I'm trying to learn Parser combinators by writing a C parser step by step. I started at token, so I have the classes: import util.parsing.combinator.JavaTokenParsers object CeeParser extends JavaTokenParsers { def token: Parser[CeeExpr] = ident } abstract class CeeExpr case class Token(name: String) extends CeeExpr This is as simple as I could make it. • Flex: Rendering a bound TileList - when does it finish rendering?

  Hi, I have an mx:TileList which is bound to an ArrayCollection. I have some code that displays a "Loading..." message before modifying the ArracyCollection and some code after that hides the loading message. For small data sets, it works fine. However, I noticed with an array size of about 50~ and larger, flex will hide my loading message before the TileList is finished rendering the new data and I'm left with a blank screen for an odd second. Is there an event I can listen to that is called after the TileList is finished re-rendering? Code looks something like this: loading_message.visible = true; for each (var x:Object in new_data) { tile_list_data.append(x); // bound to my_tile_list component } my_tile_list.validateNow(); loading_message.visible = false; In this example, loading_message appear, disappear, and then the flex app will lag before finally revealing the updated TileList. Any ideas? Thanks!

• Confirmation box pops up more than once using ajax

  I'm using Ajax to delete records and display an animated message (function display_message) when this record is deleted, but I noticed that the confirmation box pops up depending on the number of records. for example if I have 2 records in my list and I want to delete on of them.The confirmation box pops up twice before deleting and the same thing happen with the message, It appears twice(I'm using a message that fade in and out), and so on(3 records - 3 pops up, etc). I tried a lot to resolve it but I haven't succeed .   Hi guys! Let's assume we have the following method in the business layer. What's the best practice to tell the UI layer that something went wrong and give also the error message? Should the method return an empty String when it was OK, otherwise the error message, or should it throw another exception in the catch code wrapping the caught exception? If we choose the second variant then the UI should have another try,catch which is too much try,catch maybe. Here is a pseudocode for the first variant. public String updateSomething() { try { //Begin transaction here dataLayer.do1(); dataLayer.do2(); dataLayer.doN(); } catch(Exception exc) { //Rollback transaction code here return exc.message; } return ""; } Is this a good practice or should I throw another exception in the catch(then the method will be void)?

• Running Send_SMS method from BroadcastReceiver

  My application is an auto-reply application for text messages. I have a BroadcastReceiver for when a message arrives, and I need it to run a public method (Send_SMS). SMS_Sender.sendSMS(phoneNumber, messageText); does not work however, and eclipse wants to change my method to static. This would not be an issue if I did not have more receivers that catch when the message is sent/delivered/etc in this class. These receivers are then errors for being contained in a static method. So my question is, how do I run this method from a broadcast receiver so I can send the auto reply whenever it is triggered with a received message? -Thank you in advance, Nate

• How to stop/override a Jquery TimeOut function?

  Hi, I have a small jquery snippet that displays notification message at the top of the screen in response to user actions on a page. The notification is often displayed after Ajax actions with dynamic content inside it. For example: $("#mini-txt").html("Thank you!"); $("#mini").fadeIn("fast"); setTimeout(function() {$("#mini").animate({height: "hide", opacity: "hide"}, "medium");}, 3000); The notification works well, except when a user does two or more actions in rapid succession, in which case the TimeOut function will confuse itself and the second message appears to come inside the previous 3000 milliseconds. Is there a way to "kill" the previous notification if a new action is performed. I've got no problem with the actions/selectors, just the TimeOut function.... either stopping it or overriding it somehow. Or perhaps there's a better alternative for getting the message to linger on the screen for a few seconds before disappearing? Thank you.

• MasterPage Page_Load hits before Grid_ItemCommand

  I am using the session object to store success/error messages based on user actions. On each postback, the message is set on ItemCommend and retrieved on the Page_Load of the master page. Once retrieved, the message is deleted from the session. The problem is that the master page's Page_Load gets called before the ItemCommand gets called so the message does not show up until the next refresh or postback. How is this situation normally handled? Is there some other event we can code against?

  I have created some code to popup a confirm dialog if a user tries to leave a page without saving their changes. However, I don't want the confirmation dialog to popup if the user has clicked the "Save" button. I have some code at the top of my file which looks like this: var confirmClose = false; window.onbeforeunload = function(evt) { if (confirmClose == true) { message = "There are unsaved changes on this page. What am I doing wrong here?
