• Where are xmodmap settings saved?

  I created my own keyboard layout and loaded it with xmodmap .Xmodmap. Now I want to go back to a default layout, but after a reboot the layout defined with xmodmap are still present. What files is modifying xmodmap? By the way, I'm using Arch Linux, and I just want to have again the layout defined in /etc/vconsole.conf (which is the default place to define your keyboard layout with systemd, according to the Arch Wiki).

• Circumvent proxy filter that disables the download of EXE files

  Do you know of a way to download exe files although the web proxy has a filter in place not to allow this? I have searched for a feature web site that does automatic file renaming. That should certainly make it possible. The solution would take a URL and then change the extension so that it would look to my proxy as I was downloading a .dat file (or similar). There are perhaps other solutions to this problem.

  I've setup extension mobility to the best of my ability, however, it its perplexing me... From the materials I've been reading I have established I need to have the following URL in place: http://IP/emapp/EmAppServlet?device=#DEVICENAME# If I try and browse to this in a web browser I can a blankHTML page. When my registered phone (CIPC) presses Services - Extension Mobility, it just sits there / delivers a blank page. I figure this isn't coincidence... Any ideas?

• How do I automatically copy data when attaching external storage?

  If I am correct to assume that once I place a DVD/disk in my optical drive (or use a USB flash drive or external HDD for that matter; for arguments sake) that this action would in effect trigger an 'event' in Windows. I would like to use this 'triggered event' to enable an entire copy of that device. Example: if my optical H: reads a disk OR the user closes the tray OR ... then xcopy /S H: "F:\Copy of H"

• Power outage during disk wipe. What do I do now?

  I was using Roadkil Diskwipe on an external hard drive and the power went out. I had removed it from any outlet connection by the time power was restored to prevent power-spike damage (it's on a surge protector, but I didn't want to rely on that). My question is, where do I go from here? Obviously I don't care about preserving any data currently on it, I just want to make sure the drive itself is not terminally damaged. I'm running chkdsk (full), but I don't know if that's the correct step to assessing any damage. If it makes any difference, the hard drive was unallocated at the time of the outage, as Diskwipe requires that for it to run. Also, could something like this cause latent problems with the drive itself (i.e. serious issues that I won't be aware of when testing it now). I'd appreciate any program recommendations if chkdsk is not the most appropriate diagnostic route. Thank you.

• Is there a wildcard for setting up an outlook 2007 rule

  I would like to create a rule that moves anything with the words "SUCCESS * BenchmarResults", where the * indicates a wildcard to a specific folder. We have multiple systems that will be put in place of the *. We have emails that will return "WARNING * BenchmarkResults" that I don't want the rule applied to. I know I can create a seperate rule for each of our systems, but I want this rule to be dymanic where I can add new benchmark emails without creatting a new rule.

• Apache httpd VirtualHost config - multiple sites

  [Advised to post here from StackExchange] I have a site to work on, because of the way the URLs are built the application seems to have been created on the assumption that it will be at the server root (only app). On my dev server I have other projects and up to now a simple symlink has been working for me, but that's not the case now because this new app wants to sit at the route and process all URLs arriving on :80. Hopefully this snippet from httpd.conf will help explain what I'm trying to acheive: # default for any not matched elsewhere <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName localhost DocumentRoot /var/www/html/newproject </VirtualHost> # now try to pick out specific URLs <VirtualHost localhost/webdev> DocumentRoot /var/www/html/existingProject ServerName localhost/project </VirtualHost> Also need to be able to get same affect from wherever I'm accessing the httpd instance from.   Is that dangerous : for the computer (without the battery) for the cells If possible, explain why. Edit : Here are some more assumptions : Without the battery included, there is no risk of overheating the cell, or over charging them. But there is still some dc to dc conversion taking place on the motherboard. I assume this dc to dc stage to be quite tolerant. What kind of trouble can I run into when using 20V instead of 19V ? Overheating ?

  I'm learning routing using packet tracer simulation and I think this is a very commun scenario: let's say pc4 is the server... why I can't ping from PC1 to 192.168.2.253 (router1) but I can ping 192.168.2.2 (pc0) aren't they the same subnet? what am I missing or have to do in order to reach pc4? (192.168.100.254) from pc 1 (192.168.1.1) is there something like "default gateway" for router? thanks for advice PS: during the simulation it shows error "The routing table does not have a route to the destination IP address. The router drops the packe (from 192.168.2.253 to 192.168.1.1)"

• Boot Linux from DOS (with loadlin.exe etc)

  I have been using the latest version of loadlin.exe (version 1.6e). It works on some machines but on others I get "no place after kernel for initrd". The kernel is about 5MB in size (non-modular) and my initrd image (decompressed) is about 8MB. One route that I could take is to enable module support and offload some of the weight of the kernel into the initrd image but I'm not confident this will rectify the issue. Are there any alternatives to loadlin.exe that are capable of loading Linux from a booted DOS session? I basically have a series of DOS tools that I'd like to run one after another and then boot into Linux, which loadlin.exe seems to be working very well for except on some machines.

• Ubuntu Wired network(ethernet does not work)

  It was working just fine, until the other day I yanked it out. The wireless works just fine on the same router. If I login to a windows 7 instance on this dual boot laptop then the ehternet works just fine. So it's not a hardware, cable or router issue. The card even gets an ip, but I can't connect to the internet. Here are the details from route, iptables, ifconfig, ping etc. Any ideas? • How to remove hiberfil.sys

  I have a small SSD and I want to reclain the space currently used by the hiberfil.sys (~4GB) by disabling hybernation or perhaps preferably, move it to an HDD. I see under "power Options" that "Sleep/Hibernate After" is set to "Never", yet I have this 4 GB hiberfil.sys file. I don't see any other options pertaining to Hybernation. how do I remove this file and keep it from coming back or relocate it to another drive, an HDD where I would not mind the frivelous writes to take place.

I am not sure what are steps involved in applying a new ssl certificate. I know at the least I will install the new certificate(s) in the local store.   I'm trying to deploy Rails 2.1.2 with Apache 2.2.10 and FastCGI (yeah, bad, ancient, ugly, I know). My application can be accessed via example.com/app/public/, but I want to access it via example.com/app/. In my .htaccess-File (in the app/-directory!) I have: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /app/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ public/dispatch.fcgi [QSA,L] How can I forward each request going to app/ to app/public/? Every time I try this (like, with RewriteRule ^.*$ public/$1 [QSA]) I get a routing error: No route matches "/app/" with {:method=>:get} Help?

• How can I stream my laptop's desktop to my iPad?

Since it's iptables firewall ruleset is very simple I'd like to turn it to stateless mode. I know that iptables can operate in stateful connection tracking mode and in a stateless mode. My firewall rules are all in place I'm pretty sure that they are stateless but my question is how can I verify that the firewall is really operating in stateless mode?
