• Routing zend request through a default controller when controller not found.

  Below is a function defined in my Bootstrap class. I must be missing something fundamental in the way Zend does routing and dispatching. What I am trying to accomplish is simple: For any request /foo/bar/* that is not dispatchable for any reason try /index/foo/bar/. The problem I'm having is when the FooController exists I get Action "foo" does not exist. • Query to return internal details about stored function in MS-SQL database

  I have been given access to a ms-sql database that is currently used by 3rd party app. As such, I don't have any documentation on how that application stores the data or how it retrieves it. I can figure a few things out based on the names of various tables and the parameters that the user-defined functions takes and returns, but I'm still getting errors at every other turn. I was thinking that it would be really helpful if I could see what the stored functions were doing with the parameters given to return the output. Right now all I've been able to figure out is how to query for the input parameters and the output columns. Is there any built-in information_schema table that will expose what the function is doing between input and output?

• Dynamically showing fields to a Dev Express Grid view on windows form

  In one of windows application in C# , I am using Dev Express Grid view control to bind some data and display it to user. I have custom business objects with properties defined for this purpose.Then I simple set the DataSource of the grid to the list of my custom business objects. A while ago , there came a requirement which means that the columns to be displayed on to the grid will be dynamic. This means I cannot know at design time which fields I will need to display. I was thinking of abandoning setting the DataSource and populating the grid manually by code. But I think this will cause many of the grid's features not to work properly, for example , grouping the data by drag n drop of fields to the header area etc. Is there any way to tell a grid at runtime to skip certain fields from a list of BO's when databinding to the grid ?

• CSS Container not growing with grid?

  Hi, I have a container background defined in CSS like this; .container { background:#fff; margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; position: relative; width:970px; border:1px solid #000; padding:5px 10px; } The problem is I have a jqGrid put in the bottom of the container (near the bottom edge) and when its initially drawn it does fit inside the container panel and looks correct. Something like this (please pardon my non-l33t graphic skillz): But then when I populate the grid with rows it outgrows the container and it looks really tacky, something like this (I circled the original container background edges): I am sure its something I am doing wrong with the CSS. Any advice would be appreciated. EDIT: The problem isn't the width its the height of the container being overlapped by the new height of the now populated grid

  Hi I have a Subsonic3 Active Record generated partial User class which I've extended on with some methods in a separate partial class. I would like to know if it is possible to add Data Annotations to the member properties on one partial class where it's declared on the other Subsonic Generated one I tried this. public partial class User { [DataType(DataType.EmailAddress, ErrorMessage = "Please enter an email address")] public string Email { get; set; } ... } That examples gives the "Member is already defined" error. I think I might have seen an example a while ago of what I'm trying to do with Dynamic Data and Linq2Sql.

• Search for Variable Usage In SSIS tasks

  Hi all: As what seems to be some sort of penance for sins in a prior life, I have been tasked with maintaining some SSIS packages. (NO! NO BADMOUTHING SSIS!! BAD PROGRAMMMER! NO DOUGHNUT!). Anyhoo, I many of the packages have variables, defined in an outer container, which are used in multiple inner containers, in script tasks. What I want to do, is find out all the places in a package a variable being used; in other words, search for instances of variable usage in all tasks of a package. This would be a huge help, but I cannot for the life of me find out how this can be done in BIDS. (this is SSIS/BIDS 2008) Thanks for any help, YS

Ideally, we don't need to make a new local variable such as x and assign it the value of i inside the loop, but just so that i has a new copy in the new scope each time. (if possible).   How do I get a list of all index & index columns in SQL Server 2005+?   I am looking for a Java-based numerical method package that provides functionality including: Solving systems of equations using different numerical analysis algorithms. Matrix methods (e.g., inversion). Spline approximations. Probability distributions and statistical methods. In this case, "best" is defined as a package with a mature and usable API, solid performance and numerical accuracy. Edit: derick van brought up a good point in that cost is a factor. I am heavily biased in favor of free packages but others may have a different emphasis.

• SQL Server 2008 Dead lock issue

  I got into a deadlock issue where I am struggling find the root-cause...The Deadlock graph suggests that an UPDATE statement became the victim over a SELECT statement... What puzzles me is that the UPDATE statement is trying to acquire an index on some other table that is never referred in update statement... This is how my UPDATE statement looks like... UPDATE Table set col1 = @P1 where col2 = @P2 This statement acquired a X lock on the col2 index, but also tries to acquire an index on a column defined in some other table that is no way related to the UPDATE statement... And the SELECT statement that won the deadlock situation had nothing to do with the table or index in the update statement but tried to acquire an index on the table in UPDATE statement. eventually causing the DEADLOCK.

  I installed ruby-mbox by doing gem install ruby-mbox Running this: #!/usr/bin/ruby require 'rubygems' require 'mbox' m = IO.read('test.eml') puts m.size m = Mbox.new(m) puts m produces this: 71309505 /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/ruby-mbox-0.0.2/lib/mbox/mbox.rb:45:in `initialize': uninitialized constant Mbox::StringIO (NameError) from r.rb:7:in `new' from r.rb:7 I have proved that "m" is assigned a string containing the contents of the file, just before Mbox.new(m) is called. It looks as though the Mbox::StringIO should have been defined by hasn't been. What's going wrong here? Ruby version: ruby 1.8.7 (2009-06-12 patchlevel 174) [universal-darwin10.0] (That's the default ruby installed on OS X 10.6.6)

  I have a Category class that is defined like this: class Catergoy < ActiveRecord::Base acts_as_tree :parent_id I'd like the ordering to be by the position value which is a float such that: category-1 category-2, parent_id=1, position=0.5 category-3, parent_id=2, category-4, parent_id=1, position=1 How would I specify this? I tried acts_as_tree :parent_id :order => :position acts_as_tree :parent_id, :order => :position but these are not working. Any ideas how to specify this relationship? • Why won't this SQL CAST work?

  I have a nvarchar(50) column in a SQL Server 2000 table defined as follows: TaskID nvarchar(50) NULL I need to fill this column with some random SQL Unique Identifiers (I am unable to change the column type to uniqueidentifier). I tried this: UPDATE TaskData SET TaskID = CAST(NEWID() AS nvarchar) but I got the following error: Msg 8115, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type nvarchar. I also tried: UPDATE TaskData SET TaskID = CAST(NEWID() AS nvarchar(50)) but then got this error: Msg 8152, Level 16, State 6, Line 1 String or binary data would be truncated. I don't understand why this doesn't work but this does: DECLARE @TaskID nvarchar(50) SET @TaskID = CAST(NEW() AS nvarchar(50)) I also tried CONVERT(nvarchar, NEWID()) and CONVERT(nvarchar(50), NEWID()) but got the same errors.

  Hi, I am trying to write a base crud controller class that does the following: class BaseCrudController: model = "" field_validation = {} template_dir = "" @expose(self.template_dir) def new(self, *args, **kwargs) .... @validate(self.field_validation, error_handler=new) @expose() def post(self, *args, **kwargs): ... My intent is to have my controllers extend this base class, set the model, field_validation, and template locations, and am ready to go. Unfortunately, decorators (to my understanding), are interpreted when the function is defined. Hence it won't have access to instance's value. Is there a way to pass in dynamic data or values from the sub class? If not, I guess I could use override_template as a workaround to expose and set the template within the controller action. How would I go about validating the form within the controller action? Thanks, Steve

  While creating JavaScript with ASP.NET MVC I noticed several scope warnings and realized that I am missing something with understanding the variable scope inside the switch / case statement. Warning: 'i' is already defined referring to case b and case c My code looks similar to this: switch(element) { case 'a': for(var i=0; i < count; i++){ do something } break; case 'b': for(var i=0; i < count; i++){ do something } break; case 'c': for(var i=0; i < count; i++){ do something } break; } I thought scope ended with each break statement but it seems that scope does not end until the end of the switch/case. Is scope for the entire switch/case?

• MinGW and "delcaration does not declare anything"

  I'm working on converting a Linux project of mine to compile on Windows using MinGW. It compiles and runs just fine on Linux, but when I attempt to compile it with MinGW it bombs out with the following error message: camera.h:11: error: declaration does not declare anything camera.h:12: error: declaration does not declare anything I'm kind of baffled why this is happening, because I'm using the same version of g++ (4.4) on both Linux and Windows (via MinGW). The contents of camera.h is absurdly simple. Here's the code. • Using MSpec runner in Visual Studio 2010 and .NET 4

  Hi Everyone, I'm a big fan of MSpec so naturally I wanted to use is right away with VS2010 as well. I have the MSpec runner defined as an external tool in Visual Studio to be able to have it always visible as a toolbar item. Anyway, whenever I try to use the MSpec runner (mspec.exe) with a .NET 4.0 solution I get the following error: Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Users\[SOMEUSER]\[SOME_FOLDERS}\bin\Debug\[PROJECT].Specs.dll' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. I can still run my specs with the Resharper 5 runner so it's no big drama, but I bothers me to no end :þ Do you guys have any idea what the problem could be? Is there any solution other than recompiling the whole Mspec source code as a .NET 4.0 solution, which I really, really don't want to do? Thanks in advance. Sergi

  I want to build a page for end users to visit (in our MPLS Network) and it show the following information in regards to them: Computer Name OS Disk Space Memory IP Address Active Directory User Name Password Expiration Time (As defined by Global Policy) Maybe a few other things such as Trend Micro Office current version vs. their version, # of MS Updates needed (we utilize WSUS), and a few other things in the future. My question is how would I pull this information from the user when they visit the page? What is the proper function for this? Anyone have examples they wish to share for me to learn by if possible? • Upper Bound in FOR loop does not get altered in loop,Why?

• NSDate & Memory management

  Hi, memory management still gives me grief. This time it is an NSDate iVar that I init using NSDate *myNSDate = [[NSDate date] firstDayOfMonth]; with a method call to - (NSDate *)firstDayOfMonth { NSDateComponents *tmpDateComponents = [[NSCalendar currentCalendar] components:NSYearCalendarUnit | NSMonthCalendarUnit | NSEraCalendarUnit | NSWeekCalendarUnit | NSWeekdayOrdinalCalendarUnit fromDate:self]; [tmpDateComponents setDay:1]; [tmpDateComponents setHour:0]; [tmpDateComponents setMinute:0]; [tmpDateComponents setSecond:0]; return [[NSCalendar currentCalendar] dateFromComponents:tmpDateComponents]; } At the end of the init call the retain count is at 1 (Note the iVar is not defined as a property). When I step into the viewWillAppear method the myNSDate has vanished. I tried to do an explicit retain on it, but that only lasts until I update the iVar using the above method again. I though - ok - I add the retain to the return of the function, but that makes the leak analyser throw up an error. What am I doing wrong?
