• Disable the mouse click event of a button placed inside a listbox item

  I have a button placed inside a listbox item and i have style defined fro that button where i have two images and on mouse hover i change the image. Now the problem is I am handling the listbox mouse event and when click the button the listbox mouse event doesn't fires. I tried to make the property of button ishittestvisisble=false And now if i click on button the listbox mouse event fires but the problem is the two images placed inside the styling of button don't apply as they are the child of button and by default their ishittestvisible also turn out to be false. So any suggestion or idea will be helpfull ....tx in advance...

  How do I get a list of all index & index columns in SQL Server 2005+? What I want is to list all user-defined indexes (which means no indexes which support unique constraints & primary keys) with all columns (ordered by how do they apper in index definition) plus as much metadata as possible.

• What is the JavaScript variable scope in a switch / case statment?

  While creating JavaScript with ASP.NET MVC I noticed several scope warnings and realized that I am missing something with understanding the variable scope inside the switch / case statement. Warning: 'i' is already defined referring to case b and case c My code looks similar to this: switch(element) { case 'a': for(var i=0; i < count; i++){ do something } break; case 'b': for(var i=0; i < count; i++){ do something } break; case 'c': for(var i=0; i < count; i++){ do something } break; } I thought scope ended with each break statement but it seems that scope does not end until the end of the switch/case. Is scope for the entire switch/case?

• ASP.net error message when using REST starter kit

  Hi all, I've written some code using the REST starter kit and it works fine on my development machine. However, when I upload it to our server the page gives me the following error message... CS1684: Warning as Error: Reference to type 'System.Runtime.Serialization.Json.DataContractJsonSerializer' claims it is defined in 'c:\WINNT\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.ServiceModel.Web\3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.ServiceModel.Web.dll', but it could not be found I've removed code line by line and it appears that the following line of code is triggering the error... HttpContent newOrganizationContent = HttpContentExtensions.CreateXmlSerializable(newOrganizationXml); Really haven't got a clue how to fix it. I assumed it might be because it needs a newer version of the framework to run, but looking in IIS it says it's running version 2.0.50727 which I think is the lates version because it says that even when we're using framework 3.5 Very confused, any ideas? • Silverlight MergedDictionaries and subclassing of Application

  We have subclassed the Silverlight Application class to add some additional functionality and then use this in multiple projects. The problem is that the Resources defined in App.xaml do not seem to get loaded. Has anyone else seen this and/or have some insight? • Generics and Exposing .Net Types For COM Consumers?

  I remember seeing a question on my official MS 70-536 exam that talked about a simple class that was designed to be exposed for COM calling clients and etc. of all the members defined in the classes I chose the answer D. The one that used a generic. My question to you guys is this: If you were designing a .net custom type that was to be eventually consumed by a com caller or a com type .... of all the guidelines I have read on this subject. Generics is the one .Net topic I would not include in a class for this purpose I would omit such a data member or use something else? Am I right in thinking this. As soon as I saw this question I knew it was generics but I can't seem to prove it. Surely I did not make this up ... generics is a .net feature right?

• C# Lambda Problem

  Probably something simple, but as I'm new to lambda expressions, the problem evades me: m => m.contactID == contactID && m.primaryAddress == true && (m.addressTypeID == 2 || m.addressTypeID == 3) I tried to use that lambda expression but I receive an invalid operator. Is there a way to simplify this so that it would work? Edit: The equivolent sql query would be: SELECT * FROM Contact WHERE contactID = 3 AND primaryAddress = 1 AND (addressTypeID = 2 OR addressTypeID = 3) I have a repository function defined like so: public E Single(Expression<Func<E, bool>> where) { return objectSet.Single<E>(where); } I'm passing the lambda expression above into this function.   Hi, memory management still gives me grief. This time it is an NSDate iVar that I init using NSDate *myNSDate = [[NSDate date] firstDayOfMonth]; with a method call to - (NSDate *)firstDayOfMonth { NSDateComponents *tmpDateComponents = [[NSCalendar currentCalendar] components:NSYearCalendarUnit | NSMonthCalendarUnit | NSEraCalendarUnit | NSWeekCalendarUnit | NSWeekdayOrdinalCalendarUnit fromDate:self]; [tmpDateComponents setDay:1]; [tmpDateComponents setHour:0]; [tmpDateComponents setMinute:0]; [tmpDateComponents setSecond:0]; return [[NSCalendar currentCalendar] dateFromComponents:tmpDateComponents]; } At the end of the init call the retain count is at 1 (Note the iVar is not defined as a property). When I step into the viewWillAppear method the myNSDate has vanished. I tried to do an explicit retain on it, but that only lasts until I update the iVar using the above method again. I though - ok - I add the retain to the return of the function, but that makes the leak analyser throw up an error. What am I doing wrong?

It looks as though the Mbox::StringIO should have been defined by hasn't been. What's going wrong here? Ruby version: ruby 1.8.7 (2009-06-12 patchlevel 174) [universal-darwin10.0] (That's the default ruby installed on OS X 10.6.6)

• Exception on malloc for a structure in C

  Hi all, I have a structure defined like so: typedef struct { int n; int *n_p; void **list_pp; size_t rec_size; int n_buffs; size_t buff_size } fl_hdr_type; and in my code I Have a function for initlialization that has the following fl_hdr_type *fl_hdr; fl_hdr = malloc(sizeof(fl_hdr_type) + (buff_size_n * rec_size_n)); where those buffer size are passed in to the function to allow space for the buffers as well. The size is pretty small typically..100*50 or something like that..plenty of memory on this system to allocate it. Any ideas why this fails?

  I'm working on an designer-heavy application (using Visual C++ 2.0, but a C# solution should still be relevant). My setup is this: I have a UserControl named "Host" I'm attempting a UserControl named "Child" Child contains a property to a class whose type is defined in a different dll entirely, named "mytools.dll" Child works just fine in the designer. However, when I go to drag "child" onto "host" from the designer, I get the following error: Failed to create component 'Child'. The error message follows: 'System.io.filenotfoundexception: could not load file or assembly MyTools, Version XXXXXX, Culture=neutral ..... {unhelpful callstack} If I comment out the property in "child" that points to the class in mytools.dll, everything designs just peachy. I have the property marked with "Browsable(false), and DesignerSerializable(hidden), and it does not help. Is there a way for me to explicitly say "Don't load this dll, you won't need it in design time", or some way for me to force a dll to load from the designer programmatically? Thanks!

• Can Hibernate default a Null String to Empty String

  In our application we are pulling data from a DB2 mainframe database. If the database has "low values" in a field, hibernate sends a "null" value in the object. This occurs even if the column is defined as "not null". As we are doing XML parsing on this, Castor is having trouble with it. I would like to fix this in Hibernate. Also, all of the hibernate hbm files are generated, so we can't mess with them (they are regened from time to time.) Any way to intercept all Strings and replace nulls with ""?

  I have a site that physically has this directory structure. -public_html --conf > contains file conf.php -SiteFiles -LiveSite > contains file ConfLive.php Directory public_html/conf/ contains a file called conf.php this file contains the following include include_once('/home/mydir/SiteFiles/LiveSite/conf/ConfLive.iphp'); I want to copy this application to test PC to test it. Test PC uses XAMPP Apache. "Root" directory on the test machine is: C:\xampp\htdocs\ My questions: 1. Where is logical path "/home/mydir/" defined? 2. What steps should I take to get this to work on my test machine preferably by server configuration and not changing application. Thanks. • gdb: SIGTRAP on std::string::c_str() call

  So I've been trying to use gdb to return the value of a string I have by calling > print <member variable name>.c_str() But everytime I do so, I get this: Program received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap. <some address> in std::string::c_str() from /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 GDB remains in the frame where the signal was received. To change this behavior use "set unwindonsignal on" Evaluation of the expression containing the function (std::string::c_str() const) will be abandoned. Two questions: Why/how is the standard library throwing SIGTRAP? I checked basic_string.h and c_str() is defined as: const _CharT* c_str() const { return _M_data(); } I don't see any SIGTRAP-throwing here... is there a way to get around this SIGTRAP? How can I read the text value of the std::string out (without getting some crazy extension library) in gdb?

• Do you use enums in your data applications and how?

  My practice shows that a general enterprise application has a lot of entities which's nature corresponds to an elementary enumeration. For example We may have an Order entity which may have such fields as "OrderType", "OrderStatus", "Currency", etc. referencing corresponding Entities which are nothing more than just a textual name bound to a key to be referenced. Using enums would look very natural here. But entities have to be defined in application code at design-time, am I right? While in we need to be able to CRUD enum value variants at runtime and use enums in server-side SQL queries (like stored procedures and views). What are you practices and thoughts on this subject? I am particularly interested in C#4, linq and T-SQL.

• Query to return internal details about stored function in MS-SQL database

  I have been given access to a ms-sql database that is currently used by 3rd party app. As such, I don't have any documentation on how that application stores the data or how it retrieves it. I can figure a few things out based on the names of various tables and the parameters that the user-defined functions takes and returns, but I'm still getting errors at every other turn. I was thinking that it would be really helpful if I could see what the stored functions were doing with the parameters given to return the output. Right now all I've been able to figure out is how to query for the input parameters and the output columns. Is there any built-in information_schema table that will expose what the function is doing between input and output?

I supposed i can do it via relation between Id and Parent Id ( and set cascade for delete rule ) , But when i do that in MMS , the Delete Rule or Update Rule in Properties is disabled .   I would like to install a feature according to the brand. So in my brand.wxi I defined: <?define brand.FeatureLevel = 1 ?> And in my wxs I wrote: <Feature Id="FF" Title="FF" Level="$(var.brand.FeatureLevel)"> <ComponentRef Id="..." /> <ComponentRef Id="..." /> </Feature> This definition works fine (wheather I've placed 0 or 1 as FeatureLevel). My only problem is a warning I get at compilation time: The 'Level' attribute is invalid - The value '$(var.brand.FeatureLevel)' is invalid according to its datatype 'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema:integer' - The string '$(var.brand.FeatureLevel)' is not a valid Integer value. Is there a way to fix this warning? Can I define integer variable? I couldn't find a way...

  I want to build a page for end users to visit (in our MPLS Network) and it show the following information in regards to them: Computer Name OS Disk Space Memory IP Address Active Directory User Name Password Expiration Time (As defined by Global Policy) Maybe a few other things such as Trend Micro Office current version vs. their version, # of MS Updates needed (we utilize WSUS), and a few other things in the future. My question is how would I pull this information from the user when they visit the page? What is the proper function for this? Anyone have examples they wish to share for me to learn by if possible?
